[Q]my X8 become a brick after i change the theme - XPERIA X8 General

hello everyone, i am a newbie. I root my X8 successfully.i want to change the theme. so, i replace the framework apk file in the system. After that, it becomes a brick. When i turn on the phone, it stops at the frame of ''Sony ericsson''. But i can go into xRecovery. What should i do? i want to use my X8 asap...

maybe u can reflash it via SEUS

ya...i have tried SEUS,i need to turn on to usb mode to connact the pc companion. But i can't turn on my phone. It is stop at the frame of ''Sony Ericsson'' text. I need to take off the battery to turn off the phone.(sorry my english is poor )... i think i should take my phone to the SE shop to repair...

If you can get to xRecovery, can you flash one of the Roms in the Development section. Things may not work, but at least you won't be bricked.
You could probably connect it to SEUS after

at first, try "fix permissions" in xRecovery
if it won't help, just restore firmware via SEUS

You didn't bricked it man... Brick is when you cannot use any home-tools like xRecovery, SEUS, whatever...
Now if you have backup just restore it, if you not have - flash it with X10 flasher. Or use the guide to install the newest update.

SEUS is different in pc companion because u don't have to turn on your phone when using update service all u need is to put ur phone to flash mode

agree....still have hope....keep trying man.....

i solved the problem with SEUS,Thank You^_^

How are you trying to apply the theme? There is a trick to it.

I had a rooted , xRecovery, app2sd2.1 mod dalvik cache, . . .
rebooted and bricked
no recovery, no nothing past black screen ' Sony Ericsson' screen.
downloading Update service from SE, but FA will get me past this screen so-far
( removed sd=no joy)(usb to PCCompan=not found(as I cannot mount))(cannot find fail-safe key-presses to factory boot???)
?

Try to flash with a custom rom and then use SEUS.. It might work
Sent from my E15i using XDA App

Seus 2.11.1.9
I'm trying with the Downloaded standalone version, but have a problem.
after I select the X8, it tells me to hold back button, and plug in USB,
now windows finds a 'semc flash' device, but hangs there.
Something is severing the internet connection ( USB internet dongle )
at this point the PC is locked .

hey guys ive been looking for the past 3 days im hoping i can get some help. so my girlfriends brother got a x10 and it got stuck on the sony ericsson screen. he then asked a sony rep what to do, the rep said oh yeah just re flash it. so he tried not really experianced in this sort of stuff. he then i guess tried to flash lol now the phone doesnt do anything it just has that green light on top right. now im used to using the windows roms an such not that experianced with andriod nor this device. so this is why i finally broke in an decided to ask.. lol thanks in advance
I'd just go to Sony Ericsson's website, download the updater and run it. Should reimage the phone back to what it's supposed to be.
tried that. it says phone is up to date

even if it says up to date click on install it will repair the phone.
just gives me the Exit option is there a diffrent tool? other then Seus?
looks like it's stuck on Flash screen. Same thing happens after you remove the battery and re-place?
If so, I suggest you go through the Root process as provided here on XDA. That will load an image for you at least, then you can either 'Keep it rooted' (RECOMMENDED) or just reflash a stock image for X10 (a or i) whichever one you got.
that whole root process i tried that. and everytime i try it fails. i will try again tho. and how do i know what version i have??
It should mention it there where your looking at root. btw we may be able to help if you could tell us the error?

Try using SE PC Companion
Try go to SE website, download the updater *not PC companion*
and go from there.
He already tried the updater. Updater = SEUS.
Now try PC Companion
just out of curiosity anyone able to pull 3g network on AT&T?
and that PC Companion didnt work
it wouldnt let me connect. cuz the phone is stuck in flash mode? im assuming nothing comes on the screen besides an green light top right;
Last i can think of is Omnius. Its a free Sony Ericsson flasher.
When that happened to me I was still able to use SEUS.. Even when it says I already have the latest firmware it still gives me the option to reinstall
omnius is what messed it up to begin with. haha maybe he tried to flash the wrong firmware? im not sure. can you link me to correct way to use omnius?
A quick write up for using Omnius.
Download these files:
Omnius ZIP 1
Omnius ZIP 2
R2BA023 ROOT
Then go to www.omnius-server.com, register, download omnius and activate account.
Connect Data cable to phone only (switched off) and run omnius.
In omnius settings -> server settings enter username and password
In phonetype drop down list select x10
Hit the flash button (looks like lightning)
In the next prompt select R1FA016_APP_SW_RACHAEL_GENERIC_1227_4612_S1_SW_LIVE_AC12_0001_S1_PARTITION.zip as the 1st file and R7A_R1FA016_FSP_X10i_GENERICGLOBAL_GGL_GENERIC_1232_9897_S1_SW_LIVE_AC12_0001_S1_PARTITION_WITH_SPARE.zip as the second file.
Press ok and hold the back button on phone whilst connecting phone to laptop/pc
Wait till its finished flashing.
OPTIONAL:
Boot phone up and go to applications -> tick unknown sources then select development and select debugging mode.
Extract R2BA023-RooT.rar and run step 2 then step 3.
P.S do not restore previous systems settings but its ok to restore phonebook, sms, mms and call log.
Good Luck
Regards
that 2nd file, isnt complete. it wont download as a .zip any place i can go to get the file.
i got the zip working. well this is the deal i tried omnius again an it didnt work. the phone is still stuck in flash mode. i still cant figure out the root process. is there anyway to hard reset from device? i cant seem to find that anywhere to get it out of flash mode.
Try removing the battery for 5 mins re-inserting...then...
Just after you have selected the zip files in Omnius and pressed ok... hold both menu key and back key simultaneously and see if that works.

Install SEUS, run it, and follow the instructions, if it says you're upto date run it anyway.

It needs to be off to put it into flash mode, as stated when you run SEUS.
If you are using firmware from your phone retailer you can Download PC companion on Sonyericssion website, install it on your computer, click update on Pc Companion then you see the hyperlink "click if your phone has problem" or something like that, click to repair your phone than follow the instruction. However, if you using firmware from internet such as nordic, global, you have to download firmware in here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793 then reflash your phone. to reflash your phone. download firmware, extract to your computer, run flash.batch then follow the instruction. then connect your phone on flash mode by connect cable to pc, hold back button and connect cable to your phone, press any key on your computer then press back button, after everything done you can restart

No you dont, seus or PCC will reflash whatever fw you're using back on the phone.

No that's not. in this case PCC will give you a message that your phone already have latest version, and you can't repair it

Accidentally deleted system file -> howto flash?

Hello everyone!
I really need some help on this one.
I accidentally deleted some important system files (like the usb-driver). Now it seems that I can't even connect with fastboot to my SE Arc devices.
Is there any solution on how I could flash a new image on my phone? The phone is not recognized anymore in the regular SE Software Suite. Currently the phone is functioning but I would like to update it to 2.3.3
Many thanks in advance for good advices!
Can no one help me? When I try to connect to the SE PC Companions tool and make a repair, the companion-tool refuses because my ROM is modified (rooted).
So this means that when a software tries to connect to the phone (via holding back-key+power on = green LED light) the software recognizes my phone... is there a way how I could use this (access-method) to manually flash the ROM?
Look for Flashtool on the x10 forum (and I think that there's a link on here somewhere.. ) then you can reflash the system to your phone)..
Hmm strange... all the soft-/hard-reset stuff didn't worked... but now I could flash it via the flashtool (had to press the back button... I normally always hit the menue-button... damn, my fault)
Thx anyway!
Menu button is for Fastboot mode.... Back button for flashing..

Where can I find X8 stock ROM with GUI?

Guys, my wife's X8 just got busted..
touchscreen is gone.. display is still there but not responding to touch anymore.
(I did everything I can.. so confirmed it's a hardware issue).
I've flashed this to a custom ROM.
How can I flash this back to stock 1.6? Along with the SE GUI?
I ran search on forum and found I need to download SE PC Companion, or SEUS.. will that do the trick? I need confirmation because my internet connection at home is quite slow, and I need to send this back for warranty ASAP.
Thanks all.
Yeah, download SEUS, select repair and it will install stock 2.1
Sent from my X8 using XDA App
Thanks Godra..
However I found this from SE Website..
How to use
1. On the computer: Start PC Companion.
2. Connect the USB cable to your computer and then to the phone..
3. On the phone: Select the "Connect your phone" option.
4. Wait for the phone to connect.
5. On the computer: From the Dashboard, select the applications to start different services and get information.
----
Issue is the touchscreen is busted, so I can't select the "Connect your phone" option.
Any other flashing method to get back to stock without them noticing that I've modded?
use the Flashtool.
You´ll have the choice beetween different 1.6 and 2.1 ROMs, and you just need to putn your phone into flashmode for this, so you don´t have to touch the screen.
You can try x10 flashtool. I would post you a link to the thread but im currently on my x8 so you ll have to use search...

Thanks codfreak and Godra.. I'll try first and see how it goes.
Appreciate your help. God bless!
Dear all, I found out that I've made a nandroid backup of the original stock ROM and saved it on my computer hard disk (see.. always do a nandroid backup!)
Anyway, I have xRecovery installed on the phone.. how do I uninstall it?
Flash with SEUS. You need first to turn OFF your phone (better to pull out battery). Run SEUS, choose your phone, next.
When SEUS asks, put your battery in while pressing back button. It will restore original Eclair.
unfortunately after using Sony Ericsson PC Companion 2.0, the app is unable to detect my phone.
Upon connect via USB, it asked me to do something to the phone.. which require touchscreen interaction before it could identify..

You are not trying SEUS?
I think there is no need to touch anything on phone because SEUS is needed your phone to turn off.
wc_how, yeah I didn't use SEUS.. hehe..
Oh well, I sent the phone after nandroid restore.. stock ROM.. as it is..
At the service center, one lady tested my phone.. checked the hardwares.. all appears ok, no sign of drop.. while I explained about the touchscreen issue..
All of a sudden she enters xRecovery before I knew it.. and she was greeted by this smirking Android face...
She paused, take a look at me... I smiled...
She turned the phone off and said "Ok, we're going to replace the touchscreen for you, please sign here - here's your reference number, we will call you - or you can call us when the device is ready"
And I was off.. hehehe
Your lucky then, enjoy
