Ok now im having problems with themes from the toolbocks. I click on the theme I want and it says downloading and installing then looks like its rebooting then its looks like its installing it but then it says aborted. I then need to select the reboot phone to get back
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
It will reboot the phone and go in to recovery mode and install the theme on it's own. If the installation aborted that means the download didn't finish right.
Once your phone is booted up go in to the file manager and in the liberty folder there is a downloads folder, click on it and you will see the different themes that you downloaded. The ones that don't work but are listed there need to be deleted so you can redownload and attempt the install again.
I wanted to add, you are much better off downloading the themes while connected to wi-fi then 3g.
It worked thank you. I think I just didn't let it download all the way

Glad to hear you got it working. I had the same problem the first time I tried switching themes and realized what it was and what needed done.

Does anyone know if z4root is compatible with the Epic 4G? If so is it as good/as safe as the 1-click root method?
Why not just 1-click root it ?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I did use one-click root personally, but I've had other users on another forum ask if they could use this as they wanted to root without using a computer. And I'm always open to another root option - just wanted to get the developers' opinions on it.

Haven't tried. You can be the first to do so but I don't see why not

I just used it on my epic running stock eclair...works great, since all other forms of rooting failed for me. A+++
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Just make sure your have debugging on, aswell as switching to stock launcher--if using launcher pro or adw etc.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I literally just used it 2b minutes ago to root from stock and its was quick. Took me about 7 minutes to root and reboot.

Strange, I just tried it on my stock Eclair too but didn't work, it got stuck "running the exploit". It changed once to "saving file" but it returned to the previous state and just hung there. I forced rebooted my phone (aka take the battery out) and tried it again, no luck for me in the end.....

I used z4ROOT to uninstall root on my 2.1 stock rom.
works instantly quick.
Easy, worked like a charm.
root and unroot on stock epic worked fine!
Need a little help here so I don't screw up.
installed ROM manager - download clockworkmod 2.5.1.0
tried to backup Current Rom
goes to Backup Name Window with date.time
click ok
phone goes to Install from package
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
e:failed to verify whole-file signature
e:signature verification failed
Installation aborted:
I use the select reboot option, reboot and back to where I started.
What am I missing?
Thanks in advance for an assist.

Rom manager will not work on the stock kernel on the epic- I wish that Rom manager included that in the support notes- you need a custom kernel - your best bet is to install noobnl clockworkmod
Thanks for the tip. Off to try noobnl clockworkmod.

I have tried EVERYTHING to get into ClockworkMod with no luck. At first I tried rom manager and when I found out it wouldn't work I uninstalled it and downloaded tried to use one click and the 3 finger method and no green :-( I'm positive I'm rooted because z4 said I'm rooted, I can take screen shots, I have setcpu, I have titanium backup, root explorer, you get the point and the are all running without problems. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? I am the first to admit I'm a total "noob" as you all call it when it comes to anything involving technology but I want to try and theme. I also had previously tried one click root on both my windows pc and my pc running linux. I'm sure I'm just missing something obvious lol.
PS yes I have superuser and it grants permission when running root apps also I sucessfully installed busybox if that matters...I'm just dirt duh der I'm sure
I already backed everything and returned my phone to stock again and that didn't help. It gives me the same message at boot up as the poster above if it matters

I had this problem as well. I ended up having to download and use the super one click root method that has clockworkmod recovery built in. make sure you have the sdk installed and place the unzipped one click folder in the tools folder of the sdk. Also download the correct drivers for your computer. I originally rooted with z4root and was in the same boat as you, you can check out the thread I started to get the answer just search ( can I flash froyo beta with out root or clock work???) Shouldn't be to hard to find. Good luck. If you need any help pm me.

Thank You
I gave up. I just wanted to get better battery life and have more options for customizing but it isn't looking hopeful at this point. Both of my desktops and my laptop had some issue causing me not to be able to install ClockworkMod. I am not computer savey and for sanity reasons I said **** it.
I'm sure ill get a hair when I'm not fed up...
Is it normal that when my phone is in usb dubugging that it pops up an error and won't allow me to connect my usb to a computer? Its a new thing. Everything is backed up on 2 different computers so I think I'm going to try and return my Epic to stock. Maybe that will help, maybe not
Thanks again for trying to help

I can't seem to figure out why the themes won't flash from the Liberty toolbox. I'm running v1.5. The themes will download, they just won't flash. I have tried literally everything - I've re-flashed the ROM, didn't work. I wiped data/cache then re-flashed the ROM, didn't work. I uninstalled the toolbox and then downloaded the new version of it (1.1.2), didn't work. I tried downloading the themes from the internet instead of the toolbox, still didn't work. Anyone have any idea on what to do?
Make sure your bootstrap is working. After it downloads it usually reboots into recover to load it.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
It reboots into recovery every time. I then try and manually flash it and it doesn't work.
ive had this same exact problem
I have had the same problem. I notice when I click on a theme to install it, it doesn't download, it just reboots without realizing it wasn't downloaded. Hence no download, no install. I do not have a connection problem and I have plenty of signal. I'm guessing perhaps there is a problem with download location.

I have had a similar issue. I found that once my ROM manager was updated, I had to reflash clockwork mod from within the ROM manager. Once I did that, I was able to install a theme with liberty toolbox.

I had this exact issue and I did this but now it just downloads an empty zip file with the themes name
I'm having the same issues this morning, my guess is that they have removed the files in preparation for a new Liberty release.
I am assuming this may be something simple to most but I can't figure it out.
In the rooted version of GB I just flat out can't get into CWR.
I have tried all different button combos at startup as well as the Reboot into recovery option in Rom Manager and just can't get there.
Suggestions?
Use the droid 2 bootstrap,i was having problems with the rom manager one too, the droid 2 bootstrap works fine

I'm sorry...I just had to comment because this made me laugh. I'm assuming you meant 'pay' but just the mere thought of having to party for an app made me chuckle. I'll party for apps all day lol.
See my signature for free apps.
Problem solved. Thanks everyone
I found out that if you turn off debugging on the phone the DX Bootstrap will work fine.
Phone Hangs on Motorola Logo
Hi folks,
I flashed a ROM through ROM Manager and told it to back up, wipe, etc... it went through all the steps... backed up the old ROM... installed the new one..
Now it hangs on Boot at the Motorola Logo. Won't go any further and the phone will not boot back into Clockwork Recovery. All that happens is the default Blue recovery panel comes up and only lets me select to flash update.zip.
This of course does not work and installation aborts.
Any ideas here?
Thanks,
Chris

When you get into stock recovery, perform a factory reset/wipe multiple times. It works the same as Clockwork on this aspect.
I have the same problem. Ron manager never got me into cwm. I can use bootstrap to get into cwm but it will only allow me to use the volume buttons. When I use the power button it will appear to work but all that happens is the screen flashes. I have Uninstalled Rom manager but I think I have to delete the cwm file for it to actually function. Anyone have some ideas.

http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/...d-7-for-samsung-galaxy-s-phones-experimental/
Faq lists two ways to install gapps. If the rom manager way isn't working for you, try the other.
flash the zip called gapps-gb-xxx located in mnt/sdcard/clockworkmod/download/goo-inside.me/gapps. flash it with recovery not rom manager.
Look for an external link--one sec, adding it for you.
my market keeps fc! The lady just had her baby and i won't be near a computer for a while to re flash. Any ideas? It force closes every time i open market. Just started today. Even uninstalled updates

hm, try uninstalling market, and reinstalling 3.4.4 apk. also, check if you have vending in /system. What rom are you on? wipe cache/dalvik?
Thank you! I actually tried to get into clockwork to try fix permissions and hit reboot recovery and it bricked! straight to boot loader every time with tons of errors. It sucked because i had no phone to send baby pictures with . Re flashed cm7 and issue seems gone now. Thanks for the suggestion!
