Led lights working with kik messenger

If your a kik user you would know that the app has a led color changer for received messages. Well in 2.1 I tried and the colors never changed but since I been using the leaked froyo I notice that every color you pick works. Has it work for anyone else? & would it be possible to do the same with other apps?

DHD LED - Tri-colour Confirmed

Does anyone what the LED is on the DHD. It seems to display only Green or Orange.
However to display orange it means it has to have 3 primary colour LEDs in it.

Now that you mentioned it, I'm curious.

I remember reading in another thread that the original desire has a multi colour led whereas the one on the desire hd can only do green and orange.

Its 1 LED. To make orange you need to mix colours

Perhaps the diode is Bi-color -|}-|}- can only emitting green or green and red together

Really? Maybe I did not pay enough attention, but I think I didn't see red on the DHD.
The directory /sys/class/leds has these sub-directories/symlinks:
amber
button-backlight
flashlight
green
keyboard-backlight
lcd-backlight
You can write a number to the brightness files therein, like
echo 1 >/sys/class/leds/amber/brightness
echo 1 >/sys/class/leds/green/brightness
Amber and green together is a bit more yellowish than amber alone.

Does that actually work?
What are you using to map to those files. I found them when using Astro but couldnt open them

Yes, it works - even without root. I used the shell. With QuickSSHd on the phone you can ssh into the phone from your PC.

I copied the files to my PC and opened them with Notepad++ but they're blank.
Am I doing something wrong?
Also, the Desire had this issue, however a college installed Handcent and it installed a blue folder into that directory...now he has a blue LED. However if he tries to make a magenta colour it wont work.

Probably the programs that you are using do something wrong. I tried with Black Moon File Browser and Text Edit and it worked. I could write a 1 or 0 and save it.

I can do that using Astro. But that either means on or off. Doesnt mean I can edit the colours
EDIT: Just realised each of those files is an RGB value...or not since they're the same in all

I'm watching this very intently because I'm astounded that HTC would include an LED with such a limited choice of colours after all their previous phones. It's one of the visual customisations you can make to your phone and I really miss my blue LED :/

Can I mod perhaps move this to the development section?

There was a great app made by britoso for the nexus one that used the led on the nexus one as a CPU usage indicator, blue low usage, green medium, yellow Med/high and red high, it was freaking amazing.... he knows everything there is to know about tweaking this.

Man, you can't open those file and expect to find something in it. It's not something really stored on the filesystem but sort of link to comunicate with a device (in this case the led). In UNIX (hence in linux) every device is abstracted by a filesystem object (block or character) .

Actually there is something in them. The brightness files control how bright the LED is ranging from 0-255. Change the content of this file and you can change the default state of the LED.
What I think we need to be looking at is how Handcent creates a blue LED folder on the Desire Classic as this too only had a orange/green Led

I found that thread on the Desire forum, but what I gather from it is that they didn't create any directory or change the device drivers, but simply found the directories already being there.

Which is the best and most up to date Android to run on my hd2.

I have an hd2. And I'm running froyo 2.2 I think. I have had it for about a year. And everything works great. Except for a couple of bugs. Home screens don't rotate, flash doesn't work for camera, and I can't install angry birds. Damn it. With that said has there been a new Android build worthy of me flashing it to my hd2 and replacing my froyo? Also is there a way to flash it so I don't turn on phone and it goes to energy Rom. Please help.

Thanks man. I got the gingerbread and it works great. Haven't found any bugs yet. Except one. My mms messages wont download. Is this cuz of my apn settings? Does anyone have a new apn setting for the gingerbread. I have tmobile.

Im thinking that the 2.3.4 ROM you are now running is the nexus one build to HD2. you wouldn't be able to run htc sync since it would recognize the phone as a nexus one. the windows mobile sync center also wont work.

Ok first things first.
I tested many roms but ONLY PURE Gingerbread rom is listed on my signature. Also dont had any problems with MMS or SMS.
Yes syncing wont work, but some stuff you can make with DroidExplorer
Right now maked some search for soft and found three sync soft. I dont tested these yet. You use it with your own risk. Backup with titaniumbackup first.

I've used both DroidExplorer and MyPhoneExplorer. They both seem a little twitchy. I mainly rely on syncing with my Google account. I use Google Calendar Sync on my PC to sync my Google calendar and Outlook.

Constantly on sync..but why?

I'm running evil D virtuous unity Rom.. and I had posted this question in the unity thread but no response.. I was wondering as to why sync just stays on even with background and auto sync off its killing my battery hardcore if anyone has a solution I will greatly appreciate the help thankyou

i have a mytouch 4G...i got it like two day ago....i dont have a data plan (please dont ask me how i got it w/o a data plan..and if you are going to anyways..the answer is my uncle somehow got them...tmobile likes us cuz we have been with them for like ever)....i have mobile network unchecked, i have enable always-on mobile data unchecked, i have background data unchecked, but still the up down arrows with the E show up at the top right corner with the time. it shows up and then disappears and then shows up and disappears...but it is constantly doing that...i need to know why it is doing that.. and how i can turn it off...
my uncle has a galaxy S and his has everything unchecked also but the 3g with updown arrows are always there...
can anybody please help? its really bugging me...i dont want to use data that i dont have a plan for..!

It's not using data, the E, when showing without data will appear when you are sending messages as your phone needs to signal sending and receiving

Easiest fix is to check "manually sync data" when you initially setup the ROM

Have you looked into the APNdroid app?

If it was actually synching, there would be a circle with arrows spinning in the status bar.

It did have the spinning circle but I just reflashed the Rom and it hasnt done it since

I've seen it to with sync off, something is still syncing but I'm not sure what, might need a logcat to check it. I've seen it happen on other roms w/ data off.

Gmail not syncing completely

I'm running CM7.1 with the Dark Horse theme on Mt4g.
Lately my Gmail is syncing, but not completely. I'm getting all of my mail but if I move or delete a message on the phone when I go on the pc it is still in the inbox.
If I refresh or run sync on the phone the messages don't reappear even though they are still there on the pc but on the phone it still counts the message in the unread total until I go on the pc and move/delete them.
So it seems to be sort of syncing from pc to phone but not from phone to pc at all.
Any ideas why? Thanks!

U can clear data if that doesn't work u can uninstall it then reinstall it

Having synch problem also with my Gmail synching with my W6.1
I keep getting "Cannot connect to the incoming server" although my login info is correct.
