Hello all,
I would like to introduce a software which using CTRL/ALT key on your Universal.
Here is a link to download.
http://1942.rocketspace.net/PQz/PQz20051119_0015.zip
Espcially, It has been designed for Japanese.(IME Atok)
(I'm not sure it works or not in other languages.)
Thanks.
OK, I'm not brave enough...
<JarJar Brick Warning>
Anyone else willing to run an executable from an unverifiable source :?:
</JasJar Brick Warning>
Tom's other 2 posts are innocuous enough, and started over a month ago, so it doesn't look like someone who registered just to post a trojan.
Tom, can you tell us if you've tried this, how it works, and where we can find a URL that lends it some cred?
Here's what I could find that might help (Jap translated page). Looks like a competition to write such a proggie:
http://216.239.39.104/translate_c?h...=50&hl=en&hs=vfu&lr=&client=opera&rls=en&sa=G
Woohoo! I found a few more Jap/Chinese pages, and developed a level of comfort that this was a competition, and that the app exists and does what Tom suggests. It's AWESOME! U get a little icon on the title bar (would like to get rid of this some time), and it changes to show ctrl and alt mode. You can set different keyboard keys to be ctrl and alt, and when u press them u can now move backwards and forwards 1-word at a time and all the other things u would expect.
Nice going Tom - sorry to have been so circumspect. We would love for you to tell us more about what those darned clever Japanese dudes are doing for the Universal.
PS: For n00bies, put this exe file in your \windows\startup folder. Right-click icon for settings. Set ctrl to be your WIN key, and Alt to be your SYM key and you're a-for-away! Uuh, on second thoughts, I've no idea what the alt key does for me, so until I figure that out I'll keep my sym key as is
PPS: Sorry VJ - you were beaten to it! No worries tho, you can focus on some of the other stuff we're all dying to see...
Woohoo! Ctrl-Q,Del,A,C,X,V I expected - but Ctrl-Z is just a big fat bonus!
Most excellent! Any chance for an "ESC" key?
Wow, that's nice!
V
Hi all,
and thank you for your interest.
Last few weeks, I've been developing this app and not finished yet.
I will write a user's guide as soon as possible.
PS.heidy
I think it not hard to implement 'ESC'.
cheers
heidy: You might be interested in this.

In the setup page:
what do the 2 IME list do?
thank you
Hi francorg,
>In the setup page:
>what do the 2 IME list do?
You might be using single byte charactor like English if you don't use IME.
We japanese have to convert from single byte charactor(alphabet) to Japanese. (Chinese/Koria are same)
Alphabet <----(IME OFF/ON)---->Japanese
The settings are used for Japanese Input.
If you don't use IME. You can choose IME [none][N O].
that the best way to you.
thank you.
brilliant - thanks!
is tough choosing which key to lose though for Ctrl.... think i'll start with CAP LOCK - i've kinda got used to using Fn, Windows, Sym etc.
but finally - i can use command-line stuff like putty properly!

Great software, great guide. Thanks!
Working while keeping the ctrl-key pressed?
Great software! Thank you for that.
To make it perfect in my eyes, it would be great, if it would work as well, as long as you keep the key pressed. I would need it to jump word by word keeping the ctrl-key pressed and moving by hitting the arrow-keys. Would that be possible?
Regards,
Jogi

I agree - this is how I would want it to work.
I haven't tried this software yet but I want to. Can anybody answer this question please? The user guide didn't seem to give me the answer:
Can I program the software to give me <FN> + <SHIFT> = <CTRL> ?
I.e. can I hold down FN and SHIFT to get the Ctrl function? Is that a combination of keys that's supported in the dropdown selectors? I don't want to lose an existing key to get the Ctrl function if I can avoid it.
And yes, I want everything!
Superb. Makes my Exec a whole lot more useful.
Has anyone figured out how to copy some text as any highlighted text gets wiped out when you enter 'C'
Mike
ctrl+c it just works. Doesn't clear the text at all.
is there a way to use the button mapped to Ctrl solely for Ctrl?
I use "CAP LOCK" as Ctrl, and although it works fine as Ctrl, when I start typing again, my writing is all in caps :-(
To get all the Windows Live services working on your HD2 running Windows Phone 7 all you need to do is call Microsoft and get an Activation Code.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2431699
They dont even ask what phone you have, although if they do I imagine you would just say HD7?
I rang them earlier to get my code and as far as I can see everything works fine.
You need to have a Windows Live Email address obviously. This method worked for me in the UK but I cant see why it wouldn't work in other countries?
Get the number to call from here :
http://www.microsoft.com/worldwide/
If they say Windows Live isn't supported in your country either call and try again or just call the US/UK number over Skype.
To any one getting an Error in the Marketplace, I did this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857127
Then the reg hack here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911309
Through this method :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907169
You can also do some of these if you want :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=907971
Hope this helps somebody!
One last thing, if you haven't flashed Windows Phone 7 on to your HD2, just do it. It is very very cool.
Have fun!
Can you dl apps from the marketplace? I too have succesfully activated my HD2 with a phonecall, but when i try to dl something, it says something like it can;t get the information right now, try again in a while, or so.
Yeah, I still keep getting that. Not sure why. Some people have had success by unlocking it? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857127)?
Can someone please share his key with me? I would be forever grateful.

I think each key is linked to the live address, but Im not sure. Even if its not its bound to be one use only. Just call them? They dont bite.

the last part of that thread gives an addition to make to your registry which will identify your phone as an HD7. Try doing this to your phone after getting the activation from MS, maybe the market is checking it against a list of allowable phones or something
EDIT: scratch that, looks like that registry edit just allows your PC and zune software to sync with the HD2
Question, what UK number did you call and what option did you pick please? I went to the activation bit but it was asking for product keys which i'm assuming they're on about Microsoft Windows and not Windows Phone, thanx!

+1... please and thank you!
Do you really think someone will call for you? They don't even have your personal information and e-mails, please stop asking people to call for you/send you code. It's pointless.
Nie ma sensu prosić o dzwonienie innych. Zresztą, w Polsce mamy oddział M$ i możesz sam zadzwonić przecież.
i hate to call with such support bobs can we just share one key? Ive read it can be set multiple times?
if i call, what should i say? its a person aint it? not a call-robot? i suggest i'd say its HTC HD7 but what if they ask why i need a new key? normally its included in the buy package?
Is anyone else getting the run around from 1-800-Microsoft? I tried calling them twice, but both times they told me they don't support Windows Phone and that I need to contact my cell carrier.
Is there another number those of you in the US are calling to get the activation code?
ITS ALIVE!
I just called here in the US. the # I dialed was 1(800) 642 - 7676 The 2 men I spoke to where dismissive, they immediately told me to call my carrier Tmobile or The device manufacturer HTC. I explained this is an MSphone problem. I asked him what help would they be? Im not having a hardware or service problem, im having a Microsoft Live account/services problem. They both explained that MS does not have Windows Phone 7 support yet, and again just repeated you need to contact your bla bla bla. I got frustrated and just said thanks for nothing and hung up. maybe ill call tonight and get someone whose willing to help. any other suggestions for numbers to call?
EDIT: Persistence my friends persistence. Be polite, now what your taking about and you will get your Product license activation code. Running 100% on my HD2
Ok finally got an activation key, looks like 3rd time was a charm for me. The first 2 reps I talked to had no idea what I was talking about and said they don't support Windows Phone, but the 3rd guy knew immediately and got me a code within 2 minutes without problems.
I now have Windows Live logged in, can't download from the market yet but it says I can't get that info right now, so I'm guessing it just takes a little time for the Windows Live certification to go through
The key can be used multiple times, so it would be nice if some people are willing to share. I can't get a key at the moment because the lines are closed but I can't wait to try some stuff out. I would really appreciate it if some one can send me one in a private message.
+1
any generous souls reading this?
i thought there was limit on the number of times the key could be used?

I'm just giving you this as a warning, I got the activation code about one hour ago by calling MS customer support in US, after I activated with the code I could login with my Live ID but then I realized that the softwares I installed using XAP like HTC HUB, YouTube, Flashlight, ... were not working anymore and it gave me an error like this app has been provoked by MS please uninstall it, so don't bother getting the activation code.
You won't be able to download app from market place after activation and I personally think that they're marking us out by giving out the activation code so easilly over the phone!
EDIT : First I had to change the name of the device from LEO70 to HD7 and then activate wp7 by the code, sooooo it was my mistake and now everything just works fine including the marketplace but I had to uninstall and reinstall the provoked apps.

Just follow the guide for activating live on WP7 Rom...and your device name will change itself(well for me it did so I assume it will for all) and then call MS and get the activation code.

You need to change the Model name and you can't just do that.

You thought better of this community? First the key is supposedly tied to your Live ID, so thats a no go there. Also, 3 times is a very small amount, if something goes wrong with my phone and I need to re-activate it once or twice after the first, then I sure as hell want to. If you want a key so bad get one your self like everyone else, or go buy a real certified Windows Phone 7 device. Besides, I can almost guarantee the first or second OTA update will most certainly kill this exploit, even if the HD2 isn't able to receive it.

Totally agree!!! Do the work yourselves....
It took me a 5 minute phone call to get an activation code from Microsoft. No questions, no hassles. MS can't just track you down via e-mail or your Live ID. There are Data Protection Laws.
Microsoft only go after the 'big fish'
Don't worry. Just do it and enjoy Cotulla and DFT's awesome port!!!!

Sorry but I think you have to call Microsoft. I don't think it is any other way. Just call Microsoft and tell them you installed Windows Phone to you HTC HD2 and you need an activation key. They will ask your name, phone number, and your e-mail. Give them this info and they will give you a activation key.

well actually I would call them after You flash WP7 to your HD2 cause I don't really know what the whole process involves of entering the activation key being as I have never done it myself cause I have not flashed WP7 to my HD2. But it is all over XDA and other sites that talk about the HD2 that you have to call to get the activation Key to enable cloud services like market places and several other features of WP7.being that you may have to enter the information to your HD2 as you talk to them on the phone I would flash WP7 first then call. But I have read MULTIPLE POST by users that they called and got the activation key with no problems. I think this is because WP7 is a Microsft product and even though the HD2 is not an official WP7 device, they still have to give the key because you can not fully us the product with out it.
Edit: I toke a look at the Windows Phone development section and found this "[Confirmed working]HowTo actvate your wp7/HD2 Live services". I think you Might find this very usefull.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944995
Like the post above me says i installed it first than set up my internet connection (important if not activation will fail) if you had to leave the activation window to set up internet you will get it again when setting up your live account in the email box. the person on the other end of the chat box will be in a hurry make sure you keep him/her on saying you want to make sure everything works right and he has to also know you have successfully activated or he may just decline that key and remember you cant have 2 keys on live at the same time so do not do it it will cut one or maby both off
remember do not thank me i just re direct other noobs like me(semi noob) i do read alot tho Thank every one here who takes time to write these guides and make programs an kernels to flash our phones
wm 7 sucks
I second that
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i know
it it alright and the only reason i have it is to use netflix and it is on my second hd2 which dual boots android too i would not want to use it as my main phone whatsoever if android was secure enough or could spoof my hd2 to one of the secure androids that come with netflix i would be happy and not think of winmo again i do say wm7 is pretty smooth though from what i have used
just email microsoft customer service, I got my code in this way

Well your opinion "sucks" mainly because there is no such thing as WM7, Its WP7 (Windows Phone 7), which is a completley different OS to Windows Mobile.
@ OP
Go into the HD2 WP7 forum, there is plenty of topics on activation. You can do it via email or chat not just phone.
How many times can you use the same activation?
I've used mine twice and I want to play on WP7 again, but I doubt I'd keep it for long but I want to know if the code can expire? If so then I'd probably just wait for a Mango update.
Thanks!

You don't really need an activation code. 'Cause theoroticly WP7 is never released for HD2. I even got an code just by mailing the helpdesk, didn't even call them.
If you mean the activation code for WP6.5, Don't really think it has one. Just go to the HTC site, install the HD2 WP6.5 rom which can be found somewhere under the topic HD2.
Otherwise, call Microsoft and supply them with your S/D number. Mostly to be found on the back of the box, otherwise behind the battery socket.
Take out the battery and read it out
i think he has used the activation code for windows phone 7 by typing it in the phone when asked and didn't note it somewhere else. so he wants to know if he can read it out of the already activated hd2 running wp7 to use it on another rom again....
have the same question here could i read out the used activation code from my hd2 to install new rom ??
Me too, I wrote my code down and somehow lost it
I have asked this question before but no one answered.
It must be somewhere on the phone but it may be encrypted like it is on Windows
Think I will try ringing them again and asking if they can give me my code as I have lost it.
If you lost your activation code for WP7, then you cannot retrieve it anymore.
It is encrypted somewhere in the phone.
It is like a password, when you lose them you are ****ed but they are somewhere in the sites core but you can't get to them.
I recommend calling Microsoft again, mailing or even open a chatbox with an microsoft employee.
And wright it down this time
Yea, I chatted with MS after I reflashed and hadn't written down the code, and they simply gave me the same one and asked that I'd write this one down and save it in case I needed it again.
