[Q] Backup Current Settings - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hi,
I hope this isn't a dumb question, I'm a noob to all this, but is there a way to backup my current phone settings before I flash to WP7? Like how you can create an image of your PC to save and restore.
If this has already been asked then I'm sorry, I couldn't find it.

If you on windows mobile 6.5 use Windows Mobile Device Center
to back up contacts web favs and that kind of stuff.

Hello!
You don't need to backup the installed applications, because the roms here have a lot of applications on board. If you need more apps have a look to this link.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371201
For personal things like contacts, messages .. you can usw PIM Backup: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705

How To Recover?

ALL MY CONTACT (outlook) is lost did a system restore and no luck where did they all go? anyone had this problem?
PLEASE CAN ANYONE TELL ME if there is anyway to recover these data from my mobile !!!! Any place where these deleted items could be retrieved from ?Any recovery tool that i could use ???
PS: I have not performed any soft or hard reset of my mobile yet...
Thanks in advance for your help...
You could use a data recovering program? Or do you want to get them off your mobile, are they already on your mobile?
I'm not sure what you are asking.
Either - You did a system restore on your pc and lost your outlook contacts, in which case you should sync your mobile with the pc to get them back.
Or - You did some sort of restore on your mobile and lost your contacts from there, in which case you should sync your mobile with your pc to get them back.
I will love to get them off my mobile or my pc I sync it and all way GONE.
I updated my contact list then i sync it and "WHAM" all gone..
what software do i need to get back ALL my contacts
thanks for your help..
I hope i posted this in the right section. if not im sorry to all...

Needed Desktop software to backup mobile data!

Dear Friends, I can see a lot of threads about HD backups, and I didn't want to start a new one, but my problem is different. Please help me, I'm unable to use any of the softwares mentioned because they need first to be installed in the mobile and I'm unable to do that!
The problem simply is that I installed a software cab and then tried to remove it. When I did so my mobile got freezed. I softrest it, after I enter the password, the mobile starts loading and gets freezed again. I made soft resting many times but no hope! So, I want to make hard rest, but before that I want to back up the data in my mobile.
Now as long as I don't put the password I can access my mobile data by ActiveSync. So I need a software that helps me to backup my data or at least my SMS (because other information can be backed up through ActiveSync) without me having me to install it in my mobile because as I said my mobile gets freezed after I put my password and I'm unable to confirm the installation in my mobile!
I do not how to completely back up your HD. But most of it you can do by going to your sync window and then clcik on the last icon which will give you a normal window with all you have on your HD. And from there you can copy everything to your PC
Sorry not to be able to help you any further
plenty of options here

Windows Mobile backup software

Hi All,
I'd like to flash / upgrade my current Samsung Omnia II from Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro CE OS 5.2.21863 (Build 21863.5.0.67) into 6.5.3 so i wonder what should i do to backup the whole Windows Mobile OS ?
is there any software that can backup the mobile phone as whole ? eg. like Norton Ghost in case of the Flash-ROM failed ?
any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Best software is SPB Backup (sorry can't post link). You can make backup on device with one OS version and restore it on devise with another.
Hi,
I would recommend you to use backup just as a backup and not to use it for RomUpgrade!
If you flash a new software install everything and don´t use your backup.
You can restore SMS, Contacts and single files. But not the whole System. If you do so, your phone will be very slow and bugy.
If you want to backup the Rom you are using right now, search on Modaco for deskdump.exe
Regards
wow, thanks guys, that is so thorough and great explanation.

MENC + rom change + access to root

Hello All,
I have problem with access to my *.jpg photos on SD card. I enable encrypt mode and for that time my files have *.menc extensions and two weeks ago I changed original software 6.5 to new 7.8. Can I decrypt them somehow ? Where I can find the decrypt key (in internal memory of phone) ? I read a lot about it ... i know if I have still original 6.5 I could use Sync to send it to PC ...but please consider actually situation ...
If I remember correctly I made a backup using the SPB software on 6.5 ...and I'm not sure when I saved it ( i think on internal memory of HTC HD2) ,,so my second questions is how can I access the root memory of my HTC phone ? Would be great if I can mount it as a disk and try to recovery the SPB backup using Windows OS ( 7 or 8) because there is a lot of good programs ,...
Could you help me with it ?
you cant use anything (applications) from WM6.5 with WP7 and impossible to restore any backup from WM6.5 on WP7 including SPB Backup
pictures and other media files on WP7 you must sync with Zune or upload to your account SkyDrive... no other way...

Hi,
Yes I know I rather think to switch back to Win 6.5 -> restore SPB backup and try to send all files ( pic) to PC ( Sync)...
Any other ideas?
