[Q] Disable charge when the phone is connected to PC - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hi everyone, just wanna ask if someone know how disable battery charge when the phone is connected to Pc ?
Because of many times I connect my HD2 on the computer I don't want to kill battery.
Thank you.

dont worry you wont its better to keep your battery full all the time then recharge from the begining

search around and had no luck in the same issue
I wonder if anyone know the way to shut it off like in WM6.5 anyways?
thanks

no idea as to the charging issue... if you plug it in and the green blinking light changes to a steady orange, it should be charging. If you plug it into a USB port connected to your computer it charges super slow, a wall charger is better. It won't charge? or it won't hold a charge? Perhaps you need a new battery
As for the overclocking and good programs and everything, you might want to spend a few hours in your spare time just reading past threads, and using Search! Actually I'm not sure if search works, but google does... go to google and use search term like...
site:http://forum.xda-developers.com wizard overclock
the site: part is essential, it means google will only search for results on that website.
(the overclocking program is omapclock or something but it's better to read the posts to discover more about it)
well i have been reading stuff all over the place. the best one that i can find seems to be this one:
http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/843374-1.html
but i wanted some input from people who have actually used some of these.

My guess is it would be easier to by an external battery charger and whip the battery out to charge it something like this i guess?

As for overclocking try searching for an app called battery status. Can't remember which version is best for wizard overclocking but should be easy enough to find.

thanks for the info man, i bought this;

cause i can charge the battery on the back while i sync the phone, but (and remember this is my first phone like this) i was told that if i take out the battery, or it dies that i will lose all my memory on the phone.
I'm thinking your mini usb connector on the phone is faulty. Does it sync?
he says it does, i dont know yet the phone gets here in the morning if usps doesnt suck today... so it might be here wednesday
I can safely say i know sod all about usb connections but the one on my old wizard started playing up (wouldn't charge and wouldn't sync).
By pure coincidence after leaving it in a drawer with about 40% battery for a couple of weeks i thought i'd see about fixing it got it out and it just worked (from usb and mains charger) so i didnt need to tinker with it at all
Good luck
anyone else?
anyone? any advise at all?

Are you talking about the battery not charging when you are at home? If so, it's possible you could have the wrong charger. You can find this out by charging the battery from the USB cable to a PC. I've attached the new version of battery status for the overclocking and other options. I would suggest you search first in the future for any other issues that may arise. Search Forum

That's "horse hockey". You'll lose only data that has not already been saved in memory. When you hard re-set the device is when all data will be lost if it's not backed up on a computer, and not by removing or your battery being drained....

There are some very odd battery issues with this at the mo, in short, dont run your battery down flat.
Charge up your phone, install the HTC battery tool, run it and make sure its full,. ACR should read 1250ish, it might be a bit below that depending on age.
then use the Battery reg tweak to set windows to report the correct battery levels.
but you still may have issues charging, it may requirer you to restart and charge, and/or unplug and charge
Also dont reboot with your USB attached, it doesnt like that just now!
any solution for this yet??
thanks

Why would you want it to not charge while plugged in to the computer? Are you able to transfer files? If not should be an option in your notification bar.

Cause it mess up my battery...its gonna shorten its health, I used to own a HTC and on that one I could just tap on the battery bar up right of the screen then I could choose to stop it from charging when connected to the pc but I can`t do the same on this one..I can`t even find something about the battery besides putting it modes...nighttime modes..performance, Maximum battery saver and custom mode which also does not have a option for stop it from charging when connected to the pc..
P.S. I can transfer stuff fine from the SD card, like I said problem is I don`t want it to charge the phone while connected to pc.

How will it mess up the battery? Lithium ion batteries do not suffer from memory like lead acid, there is software to prevent over charging, and the batteries have a certain number of charge/discharge cycles in which partial cycles count as partial cycles so there really is nothing to fear from charging your phone.
If you really nfeel your hurting your battery don't let it sit on the computer.
PS. Even if my answer does not satisfy you consider it a free bump

On CM7 with stock kernel
adb shell "echo 1 > /sys/class/power_supply/battery/disable_charging"

Hi, are you still having problems with the 32B?
Does the phone start charging when you plug it in? Can your PC see it at all via USB?

It doesn't sound good
I don't know how much you care about this phone or whether you want to spend any money at all on it, but if you don't mind wasting time on a phone that's likely dead, you can try to narrow the problem down a bit.
If you have a battery tester, you can find out if the battery will hold a charge. It may be dead or damaged.
If you have any kind of battery that outputs 3.7V, you could try connecting it to the phone's +/- terminals with some wire. Most cell phone batteries are 3.7V, so it wouldn't be hard to find. Hooked up properly with a working battery, you can hook the phone to a charger or to your computer to see if it starts charging, and you can try to turn the phone on.
We're getting into the realm of miracles, so make sure to say your prayers.
Good luck.
*** Be careful with wires and batteries; don't leave the phone+battery+wires setup connected to a power source... unless you like fires.
