[Q] Syncing Music & Pictures with Zune - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hi,
at first my HD2 is activated and full functional, but i have a problem with syncing my music and my pictures, the sync will do the first 10% very fast and then it hangs for a while (2-10 minutes)
if i reconect the phone the first 10% will do very fast again and then trhe same like above.
i've tried the wifi sync but the same it is very slow.
this problem is new to me that is my second time i flashed wp7 to a hd2 and on my first time the sync was very smooth and much more faster.
anybody has the same problem or a tip how i can fix this problem.
Maybe the problem is my sdcard on my first flashing wp7 i used a "8 GByte Samsung SD HC Plus Card" and in the moment i used a "16 GByte SanDisk Caard"

music touchflo freezes

hey everyone, i just got my blackstone yesterday and after uploading songs both through sync and manually into the storage card, my songs always freezes once i have an amount of about 50 or more. is this the stock firmware problem? is there a way to fix this?
I had that problem too, songs I dragged to the storage card would just stop after a few seconds of playing in AudioManager, or not play at all.
For me it worked better after I started to sync all songs through active sync and media player. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but I also just synced about 10 songs at a time and didn't have the audio manager tab open. Because I was scared it would happen again, I didn't put more then 500mb of songs on the storage card yet.
The storage card included with the phone is class2. I wonder, will a class 6 storage card solve these kind of problems better?
Also I wonder, would it help to make a back-up of the AudioManager_Eng.vol after syncing all the songs?
I used to get this on the bog standard crappy Orange ROM that came with the device. It would be fine until I loaded in Santogold by Santogold. Nothing would load after that and if you tried to play anything, it'd freeze up and I'd get an audio manager error or something. In the end, I entered the world of ROM flashing. Has made the phone more usable for sure.
I have the same problem. However, the problem doesn't occur if I bypass the touchflo music interface and use the Windows Media Player that came with it.

HTC HD2 on O2 - microSD not found problem

Hi,
Just noticed this last night. I haven't taken the card out at all in months but it now comes up as not found and I can't load any programs installed on it.
It's a SanDisk 16Gb microSD card and has been fine ever since i got the phone back in November or December. If i take it out and put it back, it does show up for a minute and then drops off again, any ideas?
I can still play songs on it on the Windows Media once it's been taken out and put back in and videos still play etc, so the content of the card seems fine, and with over 12Gb of music and programs, I don't want to reformat it and am not convinced that is even the issue.
Anyone had a similar problem that knows the fix? I have a feeling this is the phone at fault. The only thing I have done differently with the phone of late is to use it as a WiFi router, which does work very well for those that haven't tried it. Just wondering if that has cooked the phone as it does get pretty warm, but that said, all Opera 9 and the other functions still all work ok.
All help appreciated.
Thanks
I am having the same issue with my 8GB SanDisk microSD.
I would use a card reader and try to transfer all the files off and then reformat the card. My card has already corrupted and it is only 2 weeks old.

Hi guys
I got the same problem today...with my T-mobile HD2 used for 3 months.
This is the first time I met this problem and exactly the same with what you describled above. After insert, I got a minute to run program on SD but then it disappeared again. I tried soft reset several times but had the same problem.
P.S. I use a 8GB microSD, not the one in package......

[Q] Possible culprit to HD2 freezing

I have read a lot of posts and threads on this forum. I see a lot of people have the same issue with their HD2 freezing and generally playing up.
I read the RED button reset models were possibly a bad batch but this is not really confirmed.
I read about the issues with the memory cards that were shipped with the phones as being faulty. So I decided to remove mine and put my sms and ring tone on the phone memory. So far going onto my 2nd day I have not had any issues with the phone. Before this I would have intermittent issues with SMS tone not playing when receiving messages, the phone itself just freezing up and having to perform soft resets very often.
Now I spoke with HTC and they are not wanting to send out a memory card replacement. So it seems as some get a replacement and some don't, not sure how this works. If the 16GB class 2 cards are in fact defective everyone should get a replacement.
Now I am not 100% sure if the card itself is defective or if the hardware in the phone possible defective. But I would rather test another card 1st then have to send the phone in and wait 4 weeks to get it back.
I do however have some questions.
1. Storing your sounds on the memory card is this a no no, or should it make no difference in the way the phone behaves? I mean if I have my sounds stored on the memory card should the phone work exactly in the same manner as if they are stored on the phone memory, with no freezing occurring etc..
2. I have noticed that battery drain has been halved when no memory card is present in the phone. Now is this normal that when the memory card is installed that battery drain is doubled? I have tested this with the phone in standby mode. Without memory card the drain is 1% every 2hrs. With memory card the drain is 1% every 1hr.
3. What class memory cards should be used in the HD2? Seems like the class 2 cards are causing issues or maybe the ones sent out are just plain faulty. What are the recommendations as a minimum class 4? or should I go with class 6,8,10?
The ROM is stock, hardly any applications installed only IGO8 and SPB timer. This the is the Telstra 9193 (Australia)
I have copied my data over from the memory card and formatted it. Will try it again to see if it makes any difference but I suspect not.
yes, your phone uses more battery with memory card in. Something to do with polling it.
I agree that htc should give everyone new cards. I am not sold that the card is the whole problem, but since I got a new card and new phone (5 days), I have had zero freeze ups.
I don't think the speed of the card matters a whole lot. Even a decent class2 is going to be faster at data transfer than the phone can handle.
Handset freezing or re-starting? Try a 2G sim to eliminate problem
My handset was returned to HTC for investigation 3 times with similar symptoms and I finally resolved the issue! I am on T-mobile UK network post pay sim. I tried a 2G sim card just to rule out a sim card issue (as I only had a 2G pre pay), and this 2G sim worked fine with no handset crashing, re-starting or freezing.
I deleted my Hotmail settings and re-entered, as it became apparent that my settings were trying to constantly download ALL 7,000 e-mails I have in my inbox!!! I later installed, ensuring that only a maximum of 50 e-mails were downloaded.
Not even the HTC technicians could get to the bottom of this one!
same here with similar issues, deleted all my emails that the hd2 was sync too and my freezings stopped. it also do it before during any syncing. Turned off full weather animation, any widgets i didn't need, and so far so good.

Random reboots with SD card problem

Hi.
I decided to try out WP7 on my HD2 for the first time.
I run Task29, installed new radio, MAGLDR 1.13 and rom blackSideSeven v1.7.7392.
Everything went preety smooth. I recieved activation code from US support (through chat). Working market place, 3G, wi-fi, apps etc.
After few hours phone reboots itself, goes through MAGLDR and then WP7 says:
"Storage card not working. Your storage card has changed, is damaged, or is non-compliant. (...)".
All I could do then was turning the phone off. Reboots did nothing, so I made a hard reset. It worked, but I lost all my settings etc. Moreover available space went down to 40 MB (from over 1,5 GB).
I decided to format card with SDFormatter(it says my card is not compatible with Full(erase) and does quick format). Again, task29, radio, magldr, wp7. Works again. Few hours later same story. Storage card not working.
I'm using SanDisk 2GB SD card.
Does anyone has an idea what could be the problem here?
Thanks in advance.
Rebooting in WP7 usually means an incompatible sd card, However I was able to find your sd card in the "WP7 Compatible sdcards" .
Try another sd card, preferrably an 8 or 16 gig.

Thanks for response.
About 13 hours ago I changed SD card from this 2GB SanDisk to 2GB Kingston, used SDFormatter (not compatible with full erase either) and made hard reset. It was loading everything slower for the first time, but after some time it was as fast as SanDisk.
I've been using Zune, wi-fi, 3G, browser, marketplace, xbox-live panel, put some music. So far so good, no reboots and it still shows a lot of space available (which seems a bit strange though, because I almost filled everything with music through Zune).
I hope it will stay like that. I really like WP7, it's UI, speed and simplicity.
So yeah, if anyone will have a similiar problem, try to change SD card and see if that works for you.

actually you might have had more luck because you copied music to it, ive found that if i do not have enough music on my card it will restart, im guessing that the music covers up a dodgy patch of storage, which is fine for playback of music but perhaps doesnt perform as quick for OS functions
After few days I can say everything works really good. On 2GB Kingston I didn't have any reboots. It works a bit slow sometimes though(especially when changing apps and in marketplace). It is good for daily use.

[Q] Rebooting Issue, Help needed!

Hello Ya'all,
First and foremost, I would like to thank the forum and its members for the great supply of information and technology.
Device: HD2 is currently running YukiXDA's Windows Phone 7 ROM
Storage Device: Sandisk 8GB Class 4 MicroSDHC
Issue: I flashed my phone with Windows 7 after formatting the SD card with SD-Card formater for optimal results. The installation went perfect, the SD card was recognized, etc. and everything was working perfectly. I added pictures and music to it, no problems; however, when I put an additional album onto the HD2, the phone started freezing and rebooting quite frequently, with the occasional Storage card error; thus, I assumed (and read) that adding a little more music would patch up the problem. I tried it and to my surprise, the rebooting decreased, but the problem still persists. I know some of ya'all are probably wondering: "Go buy a new SD card," However, this is one of the cards that is known for being compatible quite frequently; thus, I can't be too sure whether I'm just wasting money or not. Any help would be appreciated.
This might sound hilarious; however, after updating to blackseven mango, my phone has not rebooted for the past 6 hours (It is infamous for rebooting every hour or so). I am going to test this out one more night and see what the problem is. I'm sure it is not related to the roms; however, it would restart with every NoDo Rom, but for some reason, it hasn't with this one.
sd card
Its most likely your SD card I personally have never had any problems with restarting and I have the Samsung SD card that came with my us hd2

the adding of music is the key, ive found that my card has portions that are fine, in fact its super quick and stable, but if i go and install something it will start resetting, if its the same issue as mine then keep dumping 50MB of junk on it until it becomes stable, i honestly do not know why this works unless WP7 is so sensitive to IOPS that even the slightest hicup will make it reset

Hi
I have had problems with alot of reboots, up till 5 per hour and some times when booting it just get stuck on a white og green screen so that i have to pull the battery. But that was untill i found this yesterday, i filled my phone up(from over 10 gb free to only 2gb free) and now it is running sooooo smooth not a reboot yet
So people with random reboots might noth have to by a new sd card. ???
Wish i found this before i ordered a 16 GB class 10 hehehe
Just a quick report back on this, after filling my sd card up with music i only had ONE reboot last night in stead of rebooting many times per day else it has been running all smoth.
So i must say this is a great result by just adding music to the phone
