I had to order a replacement through Asurion and since they're charging me $100 for a phone that's coming later then they originally told me, I'd like to know if there was a way to make sure they got an 100% non-functional phone.
I somehow got water into my charging port which lead to the screen being jacked up but with normal usage it has somehow 'healed' itself. Most likely because the water has evaporated or something. The screen actually looks almost back to normal but the performance and battery is still bad.
Any suggestions besides shoving a screwdriver into one of the ports (I've considered it) when I have to send my 'broken' phone back.
Or, would it be possible to send the new phone back to Asurion, get my money back, and have Sprint replace it for free?
pull the battery out while your flashing a new radio. or try to downgrade to Hboot .76 and pull out the battery in the middle of the process

And I'm pretty sure that the pic has been posted a few times before as well, so where are you going with this?
Asurion covers water damage.
You want to do this just because the shipment is delayed? Grow up.
No, guys......this doesn't call for a facepalm.
How about I Paypal you $20, and you ship it to me so I can keep it for parts. That way, you'll at least get part of your deductible back. If not, you can go ahead with your childish antics. I'm sure Asurion will learn in invaluable lesson if you send them a bricked phone, but my option might actually work out better for you.

Before I call HTC, does having about 20-30 specs of dust near the top of the screen qualify for getting my phone replaced? I don't want to have to pay, but I would love if i could get rid of these. I have a small dent (only in the metal part) on the top left corner where most of the dust is. It was here way before this (dropped it about a week ago, almost cried), so it's not because of that. If this has happened to you how was HTC on the replacement?

the only way is to call them and find out, they are pretty nice and honored my warranty even though i wasn't the first owner.
You really want a refurb?
I too have some dust on the bottom. Im not original owner either. Not sure if i should try to get it fixed or just live with it. Mine is in perfect condition otherwise, without any scratch or imperfection, a refurb might comeback dustfree but could have other imperfections.
Yes. It's covered.
I had a single spec of dust under my screen and an unlocked bootloader from before the method to root without unlocking surfaced. "Expedited Repair" got my phone back to me after about 7 days with no charge, and they relocked my bootloader. Never had to unlock again to root which I was glad for, as I hated that padlock icon every time I rebooted.
I had a lot of dust under my screen and they sent me a refurb over night. Refurbs are just ones that failed QA and go back to be remanufactured.

If it is still under warranty I would restore to stock and ask for a replacement.

I assume you've tried to press it back in place? Mine did that, and all it needed was to be snapped back.
I have seen some nooks that suffered heat damage similiar to this. The cover may, as was posted, snap back into place. As replacement is not an option for you, you might look at the ifixit app. There is a teardown of the nook showing the correct way to remove the rear cover and reinstall. This might work for you. Just sayin......

My Mytouch4g slipped out of my pocket as I was getting in the car last night and landed on concrete. Although there is no physical damage to the exterior of the phone, the screen now looks like this. If anyone has had this happen to them, is it fixable and if so what part do I need to fix it.

Look up Iphonerepair and mytouch4g in google.
I would give you the link, but being a new member I'm not allowed yet =D
Looked around a little bit and they look like the cheapest place out there; some guys at work have also used them, so I don't think they're going to sit there and try to rip you off (IE try to not send back phone etc etc)
Sorry couldn't be more help.
you need a new LCD bro. Have fun fixing that, just look it up on google, I m sure that there are plenty of videos on it

It's actually not as hard as it seems. First step is to buy the replacement. The second is to follow the videos online.
I just replaced a cracked glass on mine (the LCD was ok though). The tough part for you will be removing the unbroken glass and then putting it back on. Be careful not to heat the glass up too much and break your touch screen connector.
Another quick secret is that you can use a credit card to pop open your phone instead of those safe opener things people sell.
Good luck!
If your LCD is fine then replacing digitizer isn't really that difficult. I followed a guide I found on youtube and did it in about 15 minutes. No need for a special pliers like the other member mentioned, but you do need some precision screw drivers of different sizes.
If you have this part spare. I would love to buy it from you or you could donate it to me.
Here is what it looks like-

I'm pm'ing you now.
I can reimburse you for shipping ( I think you could put it inside an envelope?)
Thank you for the help!
I don't need the digitizer anymore tho because some other generous members of the community donated me 20$ to buy a new one.
My Xperia is almost working again!
edit: I just messaged you, and I don't think water can hurt it.
It's just a strip of copper plate and some glue with plastic laminate over top of it.
I dropped my phone and destroyed the screen a few weeks ago. Fortunately I was insured, they agreed to fix it and I got it back inside 10 days or so. Problem, the damn screen was loose at the top corner - you could fit a fingernail in easy. So, more than a bit annoyed I called them up and they apologised, said they'll pay for the postage and they'd sort it out.
Sent it back and they just returned it with the same damn problem! I can lift half the screen out of the case if I pry my fingernail under the (already loose) top edge - see attached photo. You can push it back in place, everything works fine but it works loose if worn in a pocket like normal.
Clearly their engineers are incompetent and I don't know if I can be bothered to return it AGAIN to find most likely the same problem repeated. Looking at the inside it seems that it's just a bad glue job - I can see sticky stuff that's meant to be holding it in place. :silly:
My question is - could I just reglue the screen in there? Does anyone know what kind of glue to use?
If it's covered by insurance get them to fix the problem at their expense as if you glue it yourself you would render insurance invalid if any other problem happened they wouldn't fix it as it would be voided because you glued it yourself
*Sigh* - yeah like I said - send it back a 3RD TIME? I really think they have trained chimps doing the repair work.
