Wonder how long it'll be before its release ready and on rom manager
This just made my night

I can't wait to run this!
senseless froyo i am guessing?
i like my sense so i'll wait for the official build from HTC.
I think the camera won't work with it, but I'd like to play with it. Let us have it, Koush! You're the man!
This is what I have been waiting for! Now only if there was an easier root process!

It's Koush man, he's almost as good as Cyanogen. There will be some kind of build for us to use within the next week. I HIGHLY doubt everything will be working, but we'll have something to play with at least!

That's what all the Droid owners (myself included) thought until we got Froyo on our phones. Turned out that flash wasn't all that great on a phone even when it works. Sure you can watch South Park, but it isn't like it makes much of a difference to your everyday use of the phone.

It's definitely a step in teh right direction, but it can't get data (over SIM) and no phone calls yet.
Definitely not yet a RC (even if it is labeled as such internally).
TheDude seems to be making quite a bit of progress though (or at least publishes it unlike Wes).
On the other hand, if you look at the Git, you'll see a lot of stuff getting updated/added by Wes.
I dunno what to think :-/
God I want this. I had CM6 running my Hero and I would love it to have it on my Vibrant. I like that it has the wifi and gps controls in in the pull down menu like the Samsung ROM. That is the best thing about the stock ROM.

Just look at the nexus one forum, full of cm7 nag-bang roms.
Its really not that hard to compile...I was just about to now that I see it works. I was doing it on my N1 for personal use (crack-fiend nightlies lol), and now that I have my Inc, I'm doing the same.
I follow what you're saying. What I meant to get across is that I would rather wait for someone else to release something.

curiosity almost killed this cat. had flashed that numnut's rom (because I am an idiot) - the rom would not install (aborted on some issues, typical of jd) and after that none of the nandroids would restore either - they would abort at restoring system - tried a few things then did a battery pull and thankfully it seems the nandroid is restoring now.
caveat emptor... i guess
Alright...yall are gonna have to fill me in (I'm brand new to the Inc and this Sub-Forum)...Who is jdkoreclipse, and why are you all talking so much trash about him?

Long story short, he f'd up on here too many times and has a permanent ban. He was given enough (more than enough actually) chances. He played the role of a dev with a serious lack of knowledge putting other peoples property in danger by doing so.

Has a loooooooooooooooooooong history of stepping on the toes of the CM team, team douche, and any dev he can steal work from. Check out his website. Shameless.
He's out for the donations, that's about it.
I downloaded and tried to run 'CM7'. There was a few errors upon flashing and a few things didn't work and lots of functionality was missing. I restored my nightly #184 w/ invibilek #18. Thanks for the headsup.
Hi all! New to the forum, but not android in general. And am eager to dive into the clockwork behind this phone, and what makes it tick. Also, on the wife's Aria.
Anyway, I've had android power for about a year and have known about the Cyanogenmod rom since cm5. And judging on how much buzz there was around cm6 coming out, it seems to me we would've heard a little more about cm7 being released til now, IMO. Now, I may be wrong, and if so I apologize, but I think the main man himself would've waited til a stable RC, then come out with it across the board, not a nightly "progress" build so everyone can flash into a bootloop. That's what rom manager pro is for!
Besides, tonight is the first time I've heard of cm7. I may be way over the line, I apologize in advance. After we all do have opinions...

There is a difference between compiling the most recent source code on github (RC0), and an official release. Anyone can compile, but only the CM team can release stable RCs (RC1 and up) and final builds.
CM7 isn't really CyanogenMod yet, as we know it on CM6. All of the little goodies are yet to be merged, it's mostly just an effort to get supported devices stable at Gingerbread. I'm running it on my nexus, and it's pretty sweet.
Oh, I understand. I knew I should've kept my mouth shut, lol. Nevertheless, I'm not flashing any gingerbread til its further along, I.e. optimizing not stabilizing. Who knows when that'll be though. I think I'll just wait til it officially drops.

I have been here when jdk started all his crap and drama but, don't forget he had a big hand in getting the camera to work on 2.3. He just tried to be a dev before he knew how. IM not defending him in any way, just stating an opinion.

Hey all, I just thought I'd make this thread in the general talk as it wouldn't fit in the dev section... if it belongs elsewhere please do move.
when do you all think CM7 will come? if so will you be flashing it right away when it is released to us? best of all... do you have high hopes to it being stable over time? post away what you expect from it and when =]

There's a beta for the legend
http://derhofbauer.at/android/
It could be ported to slide but I think it's better to wait for actual espresso build instead. I think legend/aria roms will work on slide since it goes the other way around too, but that's possible by flashing a kernel on top of the rom. Not sure if that will work with CM7.
ahhhh, i see ha.. I wasn't even aware of such ROM for the legend.. yeah I'd to rather wait for an actual build for us slide users, It would save us time of porting it, etc.... I hope we at least will have stable wifi.
I have a build ready.. ported from the legend only thing is no menu/back/genius button or keyboard everything else works. I talked too cheifz reloaded and we cant figure it out so Im going back to compiling it from source, but if you guys wanna play with it ill upload it

You cant make a recovery ext3, that a linux file format. Ext3 is for disk space like sd,hdd only.Recovery is .img file.
Thanks for clearing that up for me, I heard a lot of talked of the Nexus S using ext3/4 instead of YAFFS so assumed we needed to do some reformatting to be able to run GB

Ext 4 will be used for INT memory only, so the speed of the phone is better than current phones like Galaxy S or desire hd,etc..
Can't wait till we get Gingerbread. It's already available for many devices. But it seems that we can only rely on Cyanogen some time later.
I hope it comes out with Gingerbread, now that would be awesome!

I'm glad this thread has somewhat started a talk lol... to many flame battles recently, anyways back on topic, Cyanogen said nightly builds will be out in a few days hopefully according to his twitter as a respond to someone. I hope this means us as well in a few days! I plan on using my mytouch with cm7 until T-Mobile releases a true top phone with dual core processor.
"we'll have nightly builds of CM7 going in a few days"
I saw a tweet from Wes Garner today that said he was working on GB for the Slide. Hopefully that means the CM team has a clear idea of how to make it fly with what HTC/TMO has released, source wise, for this phone.
My buddy is giving me his Nexus One in a couple of days ... I'm very excited to upgrade. I will keep this phone as a rock solid back-up so I hope development continues. I love my Slide and it's keyboard; it's going to be odd adjusting to a device w/out a keyboard.

What do you guys think? can it run on the G2/DZ?
i think it might be able to. looking at the code, it might be able to run some things. plus, the galaxy nexus has only a 5mp camera. the G2 has a 5mp camera as well, so it could be capable of some ICS camera features, maybe all of it. i am keeping my fingers cross that ICS can work on this phone!
If it can run on both Nexus S and Nexus One, i don't see why not on G2?

Where did you get this info?
there was a basic honeycomb port a while back, and thats before we had a real source for honeycomb. Now that we'll have the ICS source, we should be able to run it. It'll just take time to get developers (and google) to have a working release.

If it can run on the Nexus S, it will definitely run on here. I'm ready for it.
honestly from looking at it id be willing to run just stock rooted ICS, without any sort of special ROM on top, it looks fantastic and if it happens ill at least make it one of my boots in boot manager, looks to be top notch and im so excited for devs to get it working on the G2! they have all of my support!
of course it can run on our visions and it will...........soon!!!!

Stock would just be fine with me! My guess is anything above stock, like a sense version of ICS, it will take up too much memory and perhaps slow the phone down.
I hope whoever (cyanogen? ) can get it running. That would be a great thing! I want my G2 to last one more year with the latest software. After that, the next nexus is what I will be aiming for

its confirmed that nexus s is going to get it. also, according to Cohen and Engadget who asked him, any 2.3 device can run it (theoretically).

Unfortunately, we're all going to have to wait until sometime after the source code is released and the CM team can get it working. As far as an official update, I don't think so unless HTC itself posts an update.
