How to upload movies onto my mytouch 4g - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I upload movies to my phone from my pc. I transfered movies to my phone but it only plays for 3secs then stop. What am I doing wrong?

You may have to convert it first. I made a folder called Movies on my SD card and use Xilsoft (software program) to convert them. Once done i just put it in the folder. Works great!

If you get Rockplayer (android market) it will play nearly any format movie (mp4, avi, 3gp etc) without the need to convert. If you wish to use the default player mp4 is your best bet.

Arc media is one I use. I'll have to try the other ones

Video Files

Im new to the Vibrant world. What format are u guys using when converting your movies to put on the vibrant? ie MP4, AVI, ect.)..what screen size is better to use... thanks guys
.3gp was the extension avatar used; it is a typical format for cell phones.I found a converter through google and it worked great, and it compresses the movies to very small file sizes as well...which is the main benefit of that file type.

cool...whats the name of the converter? how can I get it?
Dvix, Xvid and Mp4 as well as M4v all play fine.
Dvdfab does Xvid/Dvix fine and Handbrake creates pretty good Mp4/M4v
The only reason I even bother with Mp4 and M4v is my wifes iTouch plays those otherwise I would just use all my Xvid/Dvix files on my phone.
if you have vuze, let it automatically convert it for you, you don't have to mess with any settings, video looks great on my vibrant

I never convert my video files, this thing plays almost everything. That's why I bought it.

I use ffmpeg in a script initially designed for my ipod touch.
The parameters I'm using are:
Code:
ffmpeg.exe -acodec aac -vcodec mpeg4 -s 320x240 -sameq -b 15000k -vol 600 -i infile.dvr-ms outfile.mp4
I obviously haven't spent time optimizing this yet for my vibrant, but it works good enough for "The Daily Show".

I Second Handbrake
I use Handbrake and it works great. I have standardized all of my videos, computer or mobile, to MP4. I belive 3GP is very similar to MP4, if not basically the same. Handbrake creates great videos for the phone using the "iPhone" profile.

just make sure your pc recognizes the vibrant thru usb, then startup vuze, make sure its the latest version of vuze. under devices in the left portion of the vuze ui you should see your vibrant listed. then just click that n drag n drop

just use handbrake, its the best program if you don't really know what you're doing. I use MeGui myself but that's kind of advanced for most people

Video player on mytouch kinda stinks

Just got the mytouch 4g. I attempted to play avi and divx files that played fine on the Vibrant. They wouldn't play at all. Any apps from the market that will play a wider selection of files?
Rockplayer

Arcmedia or rockplayer

Both of those programs are kinda meh.
I really wish the stock media player could be as robust as the one on the Galaxy S phones. At the very least, I wish a vendor would create a nice movie player app on the market.
wish they did that too but they ok for me even when i had my vibrant i didnt really watch movies that much unless i was flying out ......but they do the job for me for now

I use VPlayer, it plays the formats you listed.

Converting videos for your vibrant

So I received a couple pm about what I do to get any movie working on my vibrant.
First off I like blurays. You can use them. But dvds look just as good.
Download a free program called Format Factory.
Go to the area for mp4 coversions section. Hd mp4.
Choose video file.
Covert.
Take new mp4 and move to video folder on vibrants sd.
Done. This corrects audio as well.
Plays in hd even cleaner than the packaged avatar movie.
Let me suggest a cg film like toy story 3. Simply omg worthy.

One conversion works on any iphone as well. In case later you switch phones. Its universal. On most any phone. Period.

I'm yet to find a video that won't play on the Vibrant straight out of the box.
It's been playing my HD MKVs flawlessly. Even the HD 720p ones!
Maybe FLV ones... but then, it's just a matter of installing RockPlayer.
Same for the most part. Some audio conversion needed.

I use freemake video converter. its quick & easy, real easy, almost too easy lol...
I use Vuze to convert movies for my phone.
Sent from THE Vibrant......
I haven't converted any of my videos, I've added a .mkv, and .mp4, both working great. c:
Do you really need to convert the videos?
Videora Android Converter
Handbreak is another good one.
It was for Mac for the longest time. now its been ported to windows (works very well with 7). they are working on linux builds for Ubuntu and Fedora (14 only).
Just choose Normal on the side drawer and pick up a cocktail!
I've found that variable bit rate doesn't work as well as constant bit rates.
Where exactly do I go in format factory? In the video tab or ROM Device/DVD/CD/ISO? If I go to ROM Device/DVD/CD/ISO it says Please Wait Loading... for a long time

Video compatibility?

What kind of files are compatible with the video player?
I tried to load a movie on my phone that I downloaded, it was in .avi format but wouldn't play. I thought it would be capable of playing that.
Evo SHIFT
The app ArcMedia fixed all my problems playing videos seems to play files better then any other app ive tried on my shift other apps would lag

Mp4/m4v videos on android?

Is there a way to play mp4 and m4v videos on android? If so how?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
if the file doesn't play natively, you can always convert them using a program like handbrake.
Mx video player
Mx player works great for the videos ive ripped. What can I use to play or remove the drm from videos i've d/l from itunes?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
There is no hack for drm (not to mention that to post one here or anywhere else would be highly illegal). My only suggestion is to sign up for Netflix and play your Apple videos on an iPod Touch.
