Just got the mytouch 4g. I attempted to play avi and divx files that played fine on the Vibrant. They wouldn't play at all. Any apps from the market that will play a wider selection of files?
Rockplayer

Both of those programs are kinda meh.
I really wish the stock media player could be as robust as the one on the Galaxy S phones. At the very least, I wish a vendor would create a nice movie player app on the market.
wish they did that too but they ok for me even when i had my vibrant i didnt really watch movies that much unless i was flying out ......but they do the job for me for now

How do I upload movies to my phone from my pc. I transfered movies to my phone but it only plays for 3secs then stop. What am I doing wrong?

You may have to convert it first. I made a folder called Movies on my SD card and use Xilsoft (software program) to convert them. Once done i just put it in the folder. Works great!

If you get Rockplayer (android market) it will play nearly any format movie (mp4, avi, 3gp etc) without the need to convert. If you wish to use the default player mp4 is your best bet.
Arc media is one I use. I'll have to try the other ones

I was using a galxy s 4g and noticed it has a video player app and the epic 4g does not have it. Is there any way to put that video player on te epic?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I think the video player is based on TouchWiz..its shouldnt be impossible to port it...but you might have to port the entire TouchWiz..also your thread topic says EVO not Epic..lol
I have a video player on mine since the froyo update.
I also have the video player app on mine, didnt do anything special to get it.

I have always had a video player app on mine. Its just semi hidden. When you play a video through the gallery it uses the video player.
Lol yea I mean epic, evo on the brain I guess. There is no video player app/shortcut in the apps drawer, I can play vids via gallery but I cant see the name of the vid in the gallery

EB13 has a video player app. It's in apps labeled as "Video Player." Has a film reel as an icon.

I know that most videos cant play when thrown on xoom and must be converted and what not
but i wanted to ask has anyone tried playing untouched vids (mkv, avi) etc..
on Rockplayer or QQplayer (from market) does it work? (even 720p ones)
EDIT: Ima answer my own question here using an atrix 4g (same processor)
and its no (atleast for true 720p video, around 4 mbps bitrate), it stutters
the players arent optimized yet.
HOWEVER, converting in baseline profile for the xoom/atrix, you can do ANYTHING! (using badaboom)
even a 10mbps, 1920x1080p video, plays flawlesslY! what a beast (vid is below if you wanna test)

My avis worked with rockplayer just fine.
Is there a way to play mp4 and m4v videos on android? If so how?

if the file doesn't play natively, you can always convert them using a program like handbrake.
Mx video player
Mx player works great for the videos ive ripped. What can I use to play or remove the drm from videos i've d/l from itunes?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
There is no hack for drm (not to mention that to post one here or anywhere else would be highly illegal). My only suggestion is to sign up for Netflix and play your Apple videos on an iPod Touch.
