[Q] HD2 freezes on instalation of Android - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi
I am trying to install Android on my HD2
I am using Energy's Sencity rom with radio 2.12.50 and I am trying to install Core Droid v0.4.
I have formatted my SD to fat32 and placed the Android folder in the root. SD\Android
When I execute haret the background goes black and green "HTC" appears in the middle of the screen, first time I let it sit there for 45 minutes second time I let it sit there for 3 hours.
Any idea whats going on?

bump.anyone?

Iunno. Maybe there's a problem with the build. If other builds work, then it's prolly that build has problems. Does that build create a data image on first boot or do you have to place a blank data image in it for it to boot?
If it creates a data image on first boot, delete the one semi created in the folder and try boot again.
If you have to place a blank data image in it for it to boot then try a different blank data image.

It is suppose to create a data image but no no semi data image or complete data image is created.

I really have no idea then, sorry. ._.
HSPL, maybe, iunno...
Enough space to create the data image? Very unlikely seeing as how it's try to fill up what it can...
Well you found the root of the problem though, it's not creating a data image... Maybe you can try putting a blank data image into it, and take off that line in the startup.txt where it creates a data image, or keep it, iunno, try it first without taking it off, and then take it off if it doesn't work...

Link and Name of your build please?

Help!!!
I have a T-Mobile HTC HD2. I want to install android on it. At first I put the MDJ Gingerbread SD Build on it. It loaded then I went back to WinMo 6.5 and tried to load it back and it wouldn't go. Problem when rebooting back to android

Hi Bro,
Im running android on my HD 2
Energy rom (rom version 6 aug 2010)
Radio 2.10.50.28_2
Android rom (mattleo 1.7 / froyostone 2.2 both rom will give the same problem)
I keep getting problem when rebooting back android on my HD2 (2nd or third time). normally the first time i boot android its quite slow (its normal). the second time its faster. but when this problem came it take very long to boot back to android. Below is the message appear
"failed to find rootfs on SD card. You need to unzip rootfs zip file to the root of your SD card. (i didnt delete any rootfs file from ny sd card????)
/bin/sh:cant access tty; job control turned off"
this problem is random...normally the 3rd or fourth time i boot android or sometimes the 2nd time i boot. when the message above appear, it will take way to looooonnnng to boot back to android.
any thing that i miss bcos i follow all the direction on installing android on HD2. first time boot all working, 3g, wifi, no robo voice, marketplace, internet access all working superbly...
sorry my english not that good, im from the longhouse of borneo island..
Do you have the files stored in the root of your sd card or in "Android" folder? I would put everything in the "Android" folder; it just keeps things more organised. You may need to edit your startup.txt file to point to where your installation is.
dammit.....i put it on root...
sorry for my mistake n ignorance not reading the readme file...
thanks n will let you know if its solve the problem.

[Q] cant get android working on my htc hd2

hi everyone i am currently trying to install android 3.2 on my htc hd2 and the steps i am following are to copy the android folder to the root of my sd card and then once i have done this then to tap on the CLRCAD file then tap the haret file then a loading bar comes up then goes to a black screen and in small writing in the top left hand corner it says
haret boot
shutting down hardware
turning off mmu...

i have repeated this process a dozen times to ensure that i have not missed anything out last nite i made sure that the battery was fully charged and also i updated my rom from the htc website to the latest version as i have read that some people cant get android working at all unless they did this. i did the process until i got the black screen again and left it all night thinking that it may take a long timer as it is the first time i have ever tried loading android but i woke up and the screen was still there i am not sure what i have done wrong i have watched videos on youtube and read forums but no one else seems to have had this problem any help would be greatly appriciated thanks
i have just tried to boot an older version of froyo android the 2.2v i got past the first black screen and it went to the black screen where the white writing starts to scroll down the the writing faded into white lines what am i doing wrong
back up your sdcard contents to your computer.
format it, preferably from a linux box. if your stuck with win-blows, then you can do a full format, not the quick format.
now put JUST THE ANDROID folder on the sdcard.
put sdcard in phone, boot into android. when it boots, dont do ANYTHING for 5 min. reboot.
once it reboots, goahead and log in, synch etc.... then reboot
after that you can coppy the rest of the sdcard contents back over and be good to go.
which winmo rom, radio rom, and android build are u using?
i am using the darkstone froyo 3.7 build i am not sure what radio is or which one i am using i will try what you have suggested and let you know how it goes
right i formated (full) the sd car using windows vista the only way i could do this is plugging my phone into my laptop using the usb and formatting it that way
then i copied just the android folder to my sd card
rebooted the phone and went to file explorer opened the android folder doulbe clicked on clrcad then on haret
i was then stuck on the screen that i was before so i waited 5 mins just like you said to rebooted the phone and it was still on windows.
i repeated the same steps and waited ten minutes still no luck
also just so i understand after i waited five minutes should i be able to reboot the phone i do i have to pull the battery out like i did and where you put (when it reboots login etc)
is there any way you could email me a file to see if it is the files i am using
thanks for all you help so far guys!!!!
i am from th UK i dont know if that makes a difference
i have a 2gb sd card
i have just done some research on the radio versions and round a thread called master radio for the htc hd2 on xda but i am unsure which one to use and could this be the root of my problem thanks again
OS version 8.2.2.1869(21869.5.0.82)
manila version 2.5.20121429.0
ROM version 1.72.206 (8637200) WWE
ROM date 04/15/10
radio version 2.07.51.22_2
Protocol version 15.32.50.07U
i have just done a bit more research and found out that i need to use a .50 for flashing could this be a problem if i dont could this be th root of my problem
very big part I'd say.... It does say on just about EVERY build that you need a .50 radio NOT a .51....

no, depending on the class (speed) of your card it'll take 15-20 min to initalize on the first boot... theres alot going on in the background.
once its booted...ie: once it shows the initial android log in screen. ie: it has actualy booted into android.
if you pull the battery in the middle of the first boot, you just corupted the data it was writing.
format the card again - get rid of the corupted files.
now start over.
and yes, you got to have the corect radio installed etc.
most roms have a requirements list... if not folow the stickies.
as ive stated a ton of times in a ton of thereads, its worth installing ether droid explorer or adb on your pc if for no other reason but to be able to run a logcat so you can watch it run comandline, aswell as post it so others can help you debug/troubleshoot.
I have the same issue with linux showing that message then it boots up a green htc sign and stays there.. i left it there for 40 minutes waiting to see if anything would happen and never did. I had android running before but did a full format on my sd card and then installed another and this happens everytime i try.
I am running Miri_Dinik- V 19.0 WWE
Radio: 2.15.50.14
I also am using the 16g sd card that came with my tmo hd2
i have been searching for days for an answer and decided to finally make a post to see if i can get any answers
thanks

Stuck on HTC Loading screen

So ive been going through a few different SD builds for my HTC HD2. and all of a sudden the last 3 dont load past the HTC loading screen. right now im trying to get the newest MCCM GB sense build i think its 1.8 going. but they all freeze. some people said it takes about 20 mins to get up and running, but i wait 30-60 mins and it stays there. Maybe i deleted a folder that allows it to boot up properly? help please!
bump for help
Please help!
Did you add the relevant directory and boot type to the "set cmdline=" line of startup.txt?
Considering i have no idea what that is. probably not. but ive never added that before and ive always been able to boot android up on the first try.
Heres a basic play b play
I load up my phone (WM)
i go to my file explorer, sd card, and android. i do my sound (clrclad or w/e) and then run Haret.exe. it starts up, black screen says booting from kernel, and it goes to HTC logo. and stays there.
If you have copied the ROM to SD in a folder called "Android" to boot from SD then you would add "rel_path=Android nand_boot=0" in quotes to the line "set cmd_line=" in startup.txt in the Android directory.
Yeah... its already in there....
Got the same problem today! Tried several different SD builds with no luck. Now on darkstone SuperRAM FroYo v1.5 it restarts the phone after the green logo...
It might be a bat sd card format or maybe because i tried to do a task29 several times without success
Got it working
Flash a normal HSPL - 2.08 and unplug from USB while performing first HARET start!

[Q] htc hd 2 android

hi guys
i have a little problem with my htc hd2
i flashed my radio to a 2.14.50.04
i put a rom on it
and hsspl 4
now when i want to start android it gets tuck at jumping to kernel and goes to a white screen with green letters
can someone explane what i can doe now beaucausei'm stuck
greets matthias
I'm guessing you're talking about SD card android roms.
If so, is the android folder at the root of your sd card? Are all the the contents of the folder in there?
zimage, intrid, system image, blank data image (if the build requires you to have one, some builds make their own data.img) , all of those are in there? And you tried CLRCAD then haret right?
Also how long did you wait on the HTC screen? 20 mins? You should have if you didn't.
If you didn't wait 20 mins, and the build you are using is one that makes its own data.img, delete it. Retry running android.
If you know not of anything in what i've stated go search and read.
hi
jep all the files are in there and the phone starts again after the htc screen
when can i seee if it maks his own data ?
In the android folder. o.o
If you didn't have to put in a blank data image into the android folder or it didn't come with one, then it is an android build that makes its own.
You can also see in the startup.txt to see if it makes one.
If you see something like this data_size=512, in the startup.txt , it is making its own data image, of size 512 mb. To change the size simply change data_size= something else
eg data_size=1024, creates a 1gb data image.
i don't get it
there is a data file of 512mb
butt is that file the problem?
can someone please help beausause i'm getting crazy
If there is, then simply try reboot android. o.o I already said this in my first post...
At max it should take 20 mins for first boot. If it still doesn't boot, then maybe that build doesn't work (you should read the last pages of every build you want to try to see what works and what doesn't), try a different build.
hi
i ddid but after 30 sec the phone starts again in windows
i tried 3different builds
cyanogenmod 7 v2.6 (gingerbread) on HTC HD2
After installation MDJ’s CyanogenMod 7 v2.6 (gingerbread 2.3) I
experience the following problems on my HTC HD2 (dutch HD2 with latest
Radio):
After ending a call or pushing the end-call button, the HD2 buttons
stay on and the screen stays black and doesn’t respond at all.
I have to remove the battery to reset my HD2.
sorry for my english, i hope you understand my issue here.
By the way I’ve installed MAGLDR v1.3, and CWM 1.3 and HSPL->SPL2.08
on the device.
Everything works perfect except the above
Please HELP!!
Try a different winmo rom? You can try task 29, then flash the winmo rom. Also insignificant in my opinion, but may play a cause in your problem, which HSPL did you install? I know you installed HSPL 4, but be specific, which one from the menu it offered? Eg. I have HSPL 2.08 which is the most popular for running android.
@aem
I'm sorry but I've never experienced your problem before, nor have I tried MDJ's Cyanogen build extensively before. Well as they say if this doesn't work properrly, try something else. Meaning, try a different build and see how it plays out. Use titianium to backup anything you'd like.
i now am runnin the newest hspl i think it is 3.33..
the rom was miri_steve0007
now i am downloading energy leo rom
and a different radio
else can't you just tell me from the beginning what i have to do for playing android?
May have no effect what so ever, but install HSPL 2.08, maybe it might fix your problems. Your case is weird one to me. @[email protected]
For sd android. Theoretically and for some, there are no requirements for android except for a radio later than 2.08, Build and HSPL shouldn't matter, but it did for some.
The android folder should be at the root of your sd card meaning /android, and one should simply run CLRCAD then HARET and done, android should boot up.
If you're looking to run android off NAND (your phones internal memory, removing winmo completely) You need a radio later than 2.08, HSPL 2.08 and MAGLDR installed.
got a new prob
the htc wont load any image anymore its allways stuck at 0%
does somebody knows what i should do?
Ouch, all flashing just stops? Is the phone in bootloader mode? The tri color screen I mean.
I'm sorry but this is where my knowledge stops, sorry, i can't think of anything else to help you with right now. Worst case scenario, your device might acutally be having hardware problems and needs to be repaired.

[Q] Very first splash screen

Hello,
Last year I had installed a custom WM6.5 rom to my android, an "energizer" rom. The very first splash screen, the one appearing just after pressing the power button, was replaced by an energizer logo.
Then I went ahead and installed an SD card Android, but since it required WM6.5 to load first, the splash screen was still the same.
Now I installed Magldr and CWM_Recovery, then a custom NAND Android rom.
However the first splash screen of energizer is still there. I don't want it. I want my own image to be there, since it's obviously changeable. Do you know how I can change that, without harming my magldr or cwm installation?
Thanks!
you need to creat one and turn it into a nbh file, there was a tool that did all this for you, ight need to search this place for it or google
See "watermarking " link in my sig.
That seems to be the solution I've been looking for, I hope I can make it work
I'll use the 0x600 memory space, right? Because 0x601 will remove MAGLDR I have installed?

correct. .....
Great, now the very first boot image is my custom one
Then the Magldr boot sequence starts with some codes like a terminal screen. And then a HTC logo appears for several seconds. Finally an animation starts, stays there for half a minute, and the OS loads.
Now, is there a way to change the HTC logo there, the one after the magldr boot?
Too much searching, but this one got me working:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12574728&postcount=5
The mount command had to be changed to the following though:
mount("yaffs2", "MTD", "boot", "/boot");
However the problem is that the rle files I make up myself don't display correctly on the phone. This exact problem was faced by other people as far as I can see, so my last problem is now that I need to be able to convert a bmp file to rle that the phone can display.
And this one can create correct rle files:
http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...-bootlogo-before-animated-boot-animation.html
I'll make a tutorial tomorrow so that other people can make this easily
