Memory card disappeared!

Heya! I asked this is in the respective ROM-thread aswell, but noone seems to answer =p
I just installed a new ROM on my device (link can be found at bottom if needed). However, since the install, my file explorer no longer finds my memory card. It has on all previous roms, so I'm not sure what's wrong. Any ideas?

I would take out the sdcard softreset when it started again I would reinsert the sdcard
and see

My X2 has this huge problem too. Its very iritating, because SD card disappeare in hour from inserting to X2. Sometimes it solves when I remove and insert card again but usually I must soft reset. Is there exist any solution to fix this?

i had the same problem, i dont know if it has something to do with it but i think that disabling the "energy save" (or something like that) helped, now i see the card always, however:
I have an autorun app (Garmin), usually when you insert the memory card it asks to be executed...
Now i get that execution request like 3 or 4 times by day, meaning the card gets disconnected somehow..

I´ll try this, but where can I find energy save?

Em I only one who have this problem? There must be a fix. However the X2 is unusable...

happens to me to
X2 mem card that came with the phone (original rom)
one time its there next its not (may come back but most times i need to reinsert it or reboot my x2)

Hi guys,Had the same sd card problem with my x2 before,from a week it is visible all the time,first I start with removing the card and putting it back again,no results,than I formatted it with a card reader(be careful here should be formatted fat32) than it was stable for a while,than it started again,I don't know how I managed to fix it but I installed some program called SKKV.Software.SKTools.v4.1.25.4 and formatted the card from the menu there than put all my contents back again from my pc through active sync and now more than a week it is there working every time I try to enter it,hope that I've help wish u luck

[Q] Would this work - Reflashing

Just had a though and wondered if anyone had tried it.
We know when we take a sim card out and boot up WP7 it boots as if it a virgin install.
So my question is if we were to reflash the phone with a second sim card can we then insert the original sim card after the install completes to save us losing all the data and settings?
Has anyone tried this?

If anyone is going to install the new rom would it be possible that you could insert a second sim when reflashing and after the flash it complete reinsert your old original sim and see if it works and keeps your old settings?
If not it will only need a reset to reformat the original sim so nothing to lose in trying this, I would try myself but I have too much on my sim to lose at the moment and cannot try until weekend as I need my phone through the week.

whoops, didnt mean to hit thanks! oh well, one for your collection!
from my point of view it wont work, the SIM being there or not wont make the blindest bit of difference when you flash it, the installer will wack anything on the SD card, which is the only place that could keep the data intact
if your looking for backup wait a while, Windows phone device manager will soon have a backup program built in to it, your phone will need to be unlocked as its not MS supported but other than that it should backup you data and your app data allowing you to flash to your hearts content, and keep your data.
i dont know if it will install apps again though, i suspect not, but its progress!

What I meant was, if you power down your WP7 and remover the sim the phone boots up perfectly but none of your contacts are there or emails and preferences.
If you the power down and re insert the sim your phone boots up as normal with all your settings.
So if we reflash using a different sim card the after the flash is complete, power down the phone remove the sim card and replace it with the one you were using before the reflash, would it not use the setting stored on the older sim card?
I have the manager registered so will use that when its out but this was just an idea and wondered if anyone has tried it.
(power down your phone and remove the sim and power up and you will see what my logic is )

ahh, yes now that makes a lot more sense!
ill check, i plan on reflashing on sunday to update to NoDo, i need to backup all my app data first just incase so it will need to wait until then, you would probably need to make sure the old SD card was the same size as the new one, just incase it checks that out.

It won't work... I bought some SD cards last week and swapped them out and if the info on the phone doesn't match the info on the card, it won't keep the info each time you restart...
For instance, if you insert new sd, get the green theme like a new phone, change to orange theme, turn phone off and on, it goes back to green as its still looking for original card...

Technically it won't work anyway as the sdcard would be part of the raid set that wp7 makes. You cannot just take data from one raid set and add it to another.
The sdcard in wp7 is not just used as additional storage it is treated as one big lump.

now that isnt quite true,i say quite because doing this doesnt means its just takeing it from the SD card but the idea is the same, ive done a manual backup of the data from the SD card, visible through Windows phone device manager, ie, ive gone through the application folder and copied the IsolatedStore of the programs i wanted to keep the data for.
it does mean that i still need to install the app, but i can just copy the IsolatedStore back to the correct folder which will give back all the data and original settings before the reflash.

WP7 7720 and SD card trick?

I wanted to pass along something i ran into while loading Yuki/xboxmod mango build on one of my HD2's (3 in the family). All of them have the stock 16gb sd card.
only one of mine loaded cleanly.
the other 2 regardless of hard resets would lock up upon the final restart on any zune updates. I tried several different sd cards that i had working on previous builds, all without any measure of success past the base 7004 rom.
I was able to do the following successfully on both non working phones.
I installed up to and including the very first (isv?) beta of mango with no sd card in the phone. At this point to move forward it told me i didnt have enough space. I put the 16gb card back in and did a hard reset (double volume method)
at this point i ran the zune update again. They both updated without any issues at that point and the cards are functioning perfectly in the phones.
I know there is a huge thread so i thought this might get lost in the middle of it and thought this could be helpful to those with sd card issues during the update proccess. Hope this helps some people out!

Take out your sd card and turn on your phone....if it turns on go to settings,about,reset...now don't let it boot...stop it at magldr screen...now take your sd sd card and format it in your Nokia phone....and insert it back into your phone and then boot it into wp7...now it should boot normally....im sure this will work

@fahd_freak: Well he wasen't exacly asking any questions was he, so it might not be as wrong anyway.....? And I have tried Hard reset a hundred of times my SD card just will not work with encryption even though i worked with the non encrypted WP7!

But I can report I had the same error my WP7 constantly gave my the SD card error upon any kind of reboot (Common reboot og because of an update) and I tried your way but i still didn't work.
I bought a new 16GB kinston Class 10 MicroSD card and now my HD2 works like a charm.
Could it be the "Nokia Trick" that renders the SD card useless/as the card can't use the encyption part any longer or something like that?

[Q] Locked SD Card (another question! i did read :) )

Hey Guys,
I did something remarkably stupid I think.
* SanDisk 8GB Class 4 SDcard
1. Installed WP7 Mango
2. Got an error message about the SDcard and couldn't use that anymore
3. Hard resetted the phone with my 4GB class 2 Sandisk card and started using that one.
Now... when I place the 8GB in the phone, it doesn't boot. It's just stuck on the HTC screen and doesn't go from there, so I can't unlock this one. (No Nokia's laying around, and the cab files don't really work, as I cannot boot with the 8GB card).
If I would start from scratch (stock...). Would I be able to 'revive' the 8GB card, by formatting it when installing WP7? (It creates the partitions and stuff in MAGLDR).
If not, I have no idea how to revive this card anymore
Please advise

Yep, tried that too. I spent the entire day yesterday trying to fix it, but I just can't get this to work. The SDcard is not being recognized anywhere.
When starting with Mango is says the card is not functional, and the only options I have is "emergency call" or "close" >> meaning the OS will be shutdown.
EDIT:
For some reason, the complete re-flash worked!
It took 41 minutes(!) for the OS to boot! But now it all seems to be in order
Is there a way to put this to "solved?"

my SanDisk 8GB SDCard clearly does not want to be used with MANGO. Switching back to 4GB. No other way

Please can you explain the procedure you undertook to resolve Your issue?
What did you reflash with corrupt sd card? Did you use storageunlock.cab?
Glad you got there in the end

Nope, I just started from scratch. Flash stock - Task29 - magldr - wp7, all with the sdcard inserted.
For me eventually it didnt work out as the card got locked again..

[Q] SD card Not Showing - Ultra Noob Here :S

Received my first HTC through the post yesterday and joined the site in an attempt to run android. I know nothing and there's an overwhelming amount of information on this site so just need someone to point me in the right direction.

My problem is after running clrcad.exe and haret.exe, the phone reset after a grey screen. Looked like it went well but now the SD card has disappeared from the file explorer and windows when connected through USB.
Any help appreciated, just want to get the SD card back up so I can format it and so on. Thanks.

I take it by the lack of replies that this isn't a common problem. It's kind of put me off trying any new ROM's as a simple procedure like this can't even go straight. Will have to stick with Winmo then

Im not quite sure anymore, but i dont think you are able to mount your sd as long as you use sd builds. I dont know if this is changing with an ext partition on your sd.
Just check out the NAND section. Its installed on your internal memory and not running from sd. WinMob will be fully deleted and replaced with Android, so first do a backup of contacts etc!!!
If you do not need WinMob for any kind of apps for work etc which arent ported to Android yet (which i dont think there are much NAND is the best solution for you.
Started like you with sd build 2years ago, too. But switched to NAND as soon as it was stable.
Now it is almost perfect.

How did you get the card to show again? Or did you buy a new one?

Just a thought,have you tried a soft reset? Switch phone off Take back cover of and press little red button for a few seconds,put cover back on reboot into android
Also make sure your SD card is formatted to 32kb (slow format)
