[Q] How to synchronize contacts - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Hi, I have used standard Outlook contacts synchronization through Windows Mobile Device Center on my WM 6.5. However, as this is not working with WP7 and I don't have activated version of WP in order to synchronize through live, is there any other way to get my contacts into WP7? Thanks a lot.

Hi,
For contacts and calendar sync I use hotmail account.
First I installed small app called Connector. After Outlook restart you will be prompted to configure Hotmail account. After it is finished you will see in Outlook new tree with your hotmail. When you add there contacts and calendar tasks they will be synchronized with hotmail.
On WP7 device you have to configure Hotmail Exchange server with the following way:
Server / URL: m.hotmail.com
User name: Enter full email address, for example: [email protected]
Domain: Leave this blank
SSL: Enable this
Mail, Contacts, Calendar: All can be enabled
For me it works!

Yes. Export from Outlook to a CSV file. Then import CSV in Gmail. Sync your phone with Gmail and you are done It's funny how good MS supports Google services. Even your Google calendar will sync fully

I've used Google Sync App to sync MS Outlook with Google (both Contacts and Calendar) and after that I've imported Calendar and Contacts by setting Google account on WP.

Does anyone know how to get my contacts out of HD2? I suppose there will be more WP7-ROMs coming and I don't want to synchronize again with GMail and delete all the contacts I'm not interested in at all - a simple tool for backup would be enough for me, thanks in advance (and if not simple tool, please just tell me what's the easiest way to achieve my goal).

Sync Contacts with Outlook Personal folder and Exchange

Hello!
I have Exchange and a personal gmail account configured in Outlook and when I try to sync my contacts (personal folder), it syncs the exchange one's instead.
How can it be possible?
I have a lot of contacts on personal folder and a few on exchange and it simply syncs the few ones. Indeed, can I make a rule not to have repeated contacts on PPC? Since some of exchange contacts are on personal and Vice versa....
Please help!
Best regards,
Deiota
EDITED:
I've managed to sync my personal contacts, but what I wanted to do is:
Exchange: contacts, calendar, tasks and email
Personal: contacts, calendar and tasks (not repeat contacts, if possible)
Can I do It?
When I go to options on WMDC (using Vista), It only allows me to choose one source, and on ASync (PPC), it also alows me just the same....

Activesync - Mail Push with multiple servers?

Hi guys
I'm wondering whether it is somehow possible to override the limitation of Activesync in WM and sync mails with more than 1 server?
I use mail-push for corporate mails, but would like of course to sync also my private mail2web - account.
what's the latest on this? sorry to revive such an old topic.
As far as I know, you'd have to use an alternative client to sync with multiple servers/
What if I want my handheld to sync to one exchange server just for email and another for contacts, calendar, and tasks?
At this time ActiveSync only supports 1 server.
mail from one exchange server, calendar/contacts from another...
Thanks to zim2323 on ppcgeeks:

Thought I would share it as i've been trying to figure out how sync my corporate email & calendar via one activesync server (company) and google contacts via another (the google server). So now I have both personal email (gmail IMAP) and work email (Exchange) and my personal contacts imported into the native contacts list.
Hope someone else finds this useful.
BTW, I also set HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync\EnableNonLocalCrossPollination to "1" instead of "0".
And now???
No news about multiple accounts setup?
As gmail is now provideing push access this becomes more than frustrating to be limited to one push server!!!!!!
You're too lazy MS!
Activesync does support multiple servers if you are not syncing the same items with both.
For example:
I sync my calendar and contacts with google sync and sync just my email with the company I work for.
You just have to go into the pocket outlook and create a new account as if you were creating a pop3 or imap account and then select Exchange Server. You however can NOT sync contacts or email or anything with both.

sense e-mail and intellisync

Hi,
I use Intellisync to synchronise my HD2 with GroupWise at work. IntelliSync synchronizes e-mail, calendar, tasks and notes.
IntelliSync has to be installed seperately on the phone. It synchronizes on it's own and puts the synchronised e-mail in the main Outlook account on the phone.
HTC sense notices that e-mail is received, as it shows the unread e-mail count next to the little envelope in the sliding bar. However, it does not understand that an e-mail account is active and asks me to configure one.
After i configured other accounts it still does not process the Outlook account. I can not configure the Outlook account with false data, intellisync removes the configuration options.
Does anyone have a tip on how to get sense to process the Outlook account aswell? I take it sense has to store which accounts are configured somewhere in the registry. Perhaps Outlook can be added manually?

Help on this issue is very much appreciated? I have the same problem and it would significantly help to use the sense mail app for the most important mail account... .
I couldn't find much info concerning the email accounts within the whole registry. Only at a single location, which should mean:
1) last synced account - here Outlook is not recognized
2) The number of unread messages - here outlook is included.
Here are the registry details:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\OtherEmail\Unread]
"Text"="Web.de (36)
Google (2)"
"Count"=dword:00000026
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\sync]
"Account Name"="ActiveSync"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\sync\Unread]
"Text"="Outlook-E-Mail (18)"
"Count"=dword:00000012
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\TotalEmail]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\Messages\TotalEmail\Unread]
"Count"=dword:00000038
Does anybody know where the sense / vanilla / HTC mail application gets it's info where to look for emails? The "regular" messaging client (tmail.exe) has access to the outlook folder where the vanilla / HTC / sense application has not.

As configuration via PPC does not work I got another idea which I couldn't try out so far:
- Do an initial sync of email data via active sync by pairing PC and HD2 (be carefull as this might result in double entries, so have your inbox/sent/draft folder pretty empty and do not sync calendar, contacts, tasks etc)
- After this outlook mails should be visable with sense mail app (somebody showed me!)
- Use intellysnc again (probably with the option to overwrite mobile data with server data)
- check whtether sense is still seeing outlook mails
- don't forget to remove the active synce settings in PC active sync to prevent double syncs in the future
I cannot test this by my own during the next 2 weeks until I can connect to my PC again. Feedback would be nice.
Another question: What about the sense calender App. I have many entries where the sense calender App does only show title/time/date, but no detailed infos like participants, note etxt etc. Any solution for this?

[Q] More than one Exchange Account on Windows Mobile

Hi Folks,
Yes, I already tried search. Here and Google and I did it for times and didnt find help. Thats reason for question:
I have an MS Exchange server and Gmail Account where I want the following Sync Setup.
MS Exchange over OTA: Emails, Contacts, Calendar
Gmail over OTA: Emails, Contacts
Could anyone provide help to me? The well known Registry Hack with "EnableNonLocalCrossPollination" does not work because its designed for mutliple Sync via USB and not OTA. In short words: I have to activate two Exchange accounts on my mobile for Sync via UMTS.
Use WinMo outlook account for sync with Exchange
Set up GMail account for mail only
Use 3rd party sync tool, like this one
http://www.milow.net/public/projects/activegcsync-project-page.html
to sync calendar and contacts with Google

Import contacts from csv XBmod-Yuki Build

I am using HTC HD2 with XBmod-Yuki Build 8107.
Before flashing the ROM, i backed up contacts using SPB Backup utility as well as in a .csv file.
How can I import contacts into my phone now that I have Mango 7.5?
Regards,
the short answer is you cant. As with any windows 7 phone you cant transfer contacts from PC to phone ( amazingly crazy I know)
you either have to set up a windows live account ( hotmail) or google Gmail account
When you set up your Gmail account on the phone it sync's contacts and calender automatically

for Windows Phone 7, Windows Live will take a front and center role with the device, requiring you to use a Live ID to "sign in" on the phone to access your Xbox account, Zune profile, Hotmail/Live Mail, MSN Messenger, Phone Live, etc. Similar to an Android device requires a Google mail account for google services
One neat feature that will help simplify things is using Windows Live Contacts (http://contacts.live.com/), which will allow you to import your contacts from
Microsoft Outlook
Outlook Express
Windows Contacts
Windows Live Hotmail
Yahoo! Mail (CSV)
Gmail (CSV)
To export contacts from gmail
(Gmail --> Contacts --> Export --> Outlook CSV).
Likewise, the 'Add People' feature allows digital import and constant syncing between the following services:
Facebook
MySpace
LinkedIn
AOL Mail
Google
Outlook
etc.
Remove duplicates
Finally, you can use the Manage --> 'Clean up contacts' option in Windows Live Contacts to find and delete duplicate information, saving a lot of time. Likewise you can use the 'Merge' feature if you have many lists to import.
Sync does the rest
