Only for personal research, how many data use in a single month?
Huh? So you mean how much data we use in a single month? if so, I average about 2gb, cap is 10gb I think.

Yes I mean how many data everybody that read that post use
I usually end up using around 1.5 - 2 GB per month with corporate push mail turned on 24/7, heavily use of facebook and twitter apps and occasional web surfing.
1.2 gigs last month, 3.7 the month before.
it all depends on what I do. most of the time I use around 1gb, I just use it to send and receive emails and google maps to find restaurants now and then, no web browsing... some other times, when I travel, I use tether a lot and play with the laptop on the hotel so I use up to 5 to 8gb. Like stated above, the cap is 10gb, but that doesn't mean they will shut it down, they just cap the 3g and you go to EDGE after that
I use my wifi connection so I had a mere 250 mb

I know we had a thread open, but no one definitively came forward to say they received the notification. I am wondering if anyone has personally been served a tethering notice for non iphone, android use, or for excessive bandwith usage on the unlimited plan which many of us have, or will have thanks to the Iphone2g loophole: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008698 for more info.
I use my Atrix to tether almost daily. A co-worked also uses my connection. I use about 4-5 gig per billing cycle and never got anything from ATT. This usage started with my iPhone and Netflix. I can't wait until it is available on the Market. Until then I want to use about the same so there are no hiccups.
I have hit 10 gigs plus each month with my atrix and tethering. I use it for everything. Xbox live 2 computers and an ipad. Never been hit by ATT for tethering or excessive bandwith usage. I have also received 150 off my last two bills due to ATT not being able to provide HSUPA.

I use barnacle for tethering on my iPad and iTouch and netbooks at school. Nothing yet. I use up around 5 gigs a month, and nothing yet.
I'm not expecting to be caught, but if I do, sucks for me.
I too used to use my iPhones for netflix (still do on my ipad and netbooks), so these data rates are abnormal for me.

I reached 20GB from downloading Torrents, Streaming Netflix on my XBox, playing online computer games, PSN, and XBL. (One at a time).
That was last month and I haven't gotten a warning of any sort.....
When I play online it doesn't lag if I only have one thing connected at a time.
I used it for halo reach. It worked really well. Im sure it will be even better with hsupa. That was in raleigh nc getting around 1.5 down and 3.3 up.
Packetloss and upload we're undetected. NAT was moderate. Seemed like games took a little longer to load. Playing cyrsis 2 the lag was a little more noticable but still I can't complain. My wife tried playing nascar 2011 on xbl but was unable to get into a race. I did notice phone calls, text messages, and data traffic would kick me offline. But I can't complain it worked for me

I am in the 4gb range at most with the occasional tether. I am so proud of you guys getting 20gb month, I would be too afraid to get caught plus there is so much free wifi around me.
For those of you running Xbox live, what speeds are you getting?(just curious)

I'm scared cause love the teathering with phone for tablets and hate to see it go away.

Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
my previous phone was the t9193 (imported hd2) and i was on the $10 dumb phone plan. I would hit 9-12gb per month, and never had an issue, tethering nearly everyday.
Just got my atrix a few days ago, (used the iphone 2g trick to get the unlimited data plan. sucks going from 10 to 30, but meh) and im already at 3gb. Almost all tethering.
How many did you use?
The past 3 months I have an average of 22 gigs per month used on my Rogers bill. I got a promotional 3 months of unlimited data.
To test how unlimited it really was I stopped using my laptop and only used my Atrix for EVERYTHING! Having tha lapdock made that easy. Torrents, videos, browsing, streaming online radio. Anything that could use data.
According to 2 reps at Rogers its the most they have ever seen. Makes me proud! haha
i'm sure your fellow rogers customers would like to graciously thank you for HOGGING bandwidth just because you can. congratulations.
That's not TOO much...Last month I used about 15 GB on my Atrix, only tethered a few times when necessary plus my normal usage. I've heard of some ridiculous people, however, that have managed to use 60+ GB of data in a month. AT&T promptly told him to stop using that much or else he would be cut off completely.
This its the first month I've broken 500 MB....usually around 350. 22GB...damn.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I've yet to go above 50mb/month. Partially because there's wifi most of the places I go, and partially because I use Opera Mini with images set to low quality when there's not. I wouldn't even have a data plan if AT&T allowed me to go without one.
You grandfather'ed unlimited users are lucky. I know I'm always going to be terrified of using my phone away from wifi no matter what my cap is.
And people wonder why providers want to cap and throttle our usage. Thanks a lot a$$holes.

Yeah, it certainly isn't because they want to do as little as possible to improve their infrastructure to support such amounts of data properly.
Not to be rude, but there's a lot more to the situation than what the carriers are trying to make us think of it. If theres something to be blamed, its the lack of any real competition, not users using a network in completely expected (on a consumer level) ways. If their contract says unlimited, then they get unlimited. End of discussion.
Back when I had T-Mobile with unlimited data plan I used to push just how far I could go with it. I would tether and download huge files constantly. They didn't seem to care, but then again, their speeds don't match what im getting now on at&t

Hell, i thought that using 1.5 gigs was a lot...
mobile data is now crack for the masses and the carriers are holding all the crack. the biggest and smallest crack dealers are trying to merge. just what gsm needs in america. a global standard with no competition. if i wasn't getting a decent discount because of my employer i probably wouldn't have data, and they did away with discounts on text, and are fixing to give us the option of all or nothing. and then they whine about we're not making enough profit, say their infrastructure is great and fast, shove 3g+ down our throats as 4g and the guys in red are considering putting android on the backburner for apples.
I use 2gigs a month only because its my cap... and I have to force myself to be conservative at times... wish I had unlimited data. Back when I was with Verizon I'd do about 10gigs a month

Yeah but the guy saying he used 22gb was also downloading torrents! And just pushing it. I understand that it is unlimited data but shouldn't abuse it because of it. Now don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate it that carriers are limiting the data. But it really is people like this that drove them to that. I mean can you imagine if the other 95% of data subscribers also tried using 22gb or even the 15gb stated? I doubt any wireless network in the world can maintain stability under such demands.
The most I've done was 10 gigs. No tethering.. it was all streaming music with rhapsody and movies with subsonic. I can see doing 20 gb if I streamed movies all the time. I currently average about 4 now
Sent from my NINJATRIX
I for one do not mind in the slightest when users push the boundary of practical usage. If every att data subscriber stayed clear within the norm of data usage, and no one strayed beyond it, where is the motive for a carrier to expand or increase the network capability, or offer larger data plans or better rates? (hypothetically, of course.) I'm a 500mb per month user myself, however if I could hit such usage without the autonomous fees, I certainly would. I respect the heavy user! Besides, a handful of people using such data amounts are not affecting the majority of 98,000,000 MILLION USERS.

So I usually buy my phones full retail anyway and I use a lot of data. We all know how T-Mobile $70 plan has unlimited everything other than data, 5gb. I dropped by T-Mobile store and their new plan, has unlimited data! Same price, before 15% discount! Problem? Contract... I have 14 days to cancel and just go month to month, but lose unlimited data... What do you guys think?
I've had monthly 4g before and loved speeds, the fact that it wasn't unlimited though...

Yeah, the Value Plan? I was considering that too, maybe the 500 minute plan with unlimited data for $60 too depending on how much you talk on your phone.
So far I ordered the prepaid sim and going to activate the $30 plan, if I don't like it I can just go to the Value Plan.
One very bad thing about T-Mobile is that any changes you make to your plan, it renews/resets the contract to the current date.
Be very careful with T-Mobile contracts.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Yes I don't like the idea of a contract, specially since I didn't even get a phone through them...
I was considering $30 a month plan, problem is... I also free lance, at times I use a phone a lot while on the go and VoIP is too unreliable for that in this area. There are spots with very poor T-Mobile data coverage here. So I'm stuck with either unlimited +5gb, or unlimited + contract.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Its all up to ur usage....
Do u really need unlimited??? On average I use about 1 GB. And a while back when I tried to use as much data as a I can...I only maxed at out about 3 GB. (Bascially Pandora every time I listen to music...which is about 2-3 hours a day total???)
If you tether a lot then its very worth it.

Do you really use more than 5gb? I think that would REALLY be a challenge for anyone. Keep in mind that unlimited account are generally always monitored for tethering (especially if Tmobile does have a tethering add-on)
I consider myself a very heavy user as I charge my GSM GN 3-4 times a day, cause I always have something running on it (streaming) . The only exception to bring up, is that I use WIFI when I'm home. I've never passed the 3gb mark

I've had my Nexus 4 for about a day and I've already racked up about 1GB pretty easily. I'd recommend one of their value plans. For 69.99 you get truly unlimited, no 5GB throttle point. They require a 2 year contract but if you're sticking with T-Mobile for a while that doesn't really matter. Canceling the contract early is $200 ETF. Without it you'd spend $89.99 for the same plan, so it seems pretty worth it to me. Attached a screenshot of my 1 day usage...

Was only maybe a bit over an hour of Twitch (720p stream) while in the car and about 30 minutes tethering while I VPN'd into work on the go. OP had already stated he used a lot of data and is likely to hit the 5GB cap. So while you say "most people", the OP is not most people.
T-Mobile is now throttling those who use excessive amounts of data on the "unlimited"
http://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/comments/342wr7/tmobile_is_now_throttling_unlimited_data/
This is probably what everyone gets because of those hacking their wifi tether and thinking it's okay to use their cell phone as their home ISP. :good:.
Apparently they've always reserved the right to do this in their TOS, but are just recently starting to enforce it due to heavy abuse.
Update:
T-Mobile CEO John Legere has made comments on the situation

Unless you have unlimited high speed data. But ur paying for it out the butt
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Apparently this is affecting everyone, even on the "truly unlimited plans". One person reported a phone rep trying to sell him a 21GB data plan.

I admit, i do download stuff time to time but i never watch tv. I stream all my music while at the gym, i stream netflix/other media apps to my chromecast when at home so yeah, i do use a lot of data. What i dont do is mess with my tethering. I have wifi at home. If i were to be throttled, i would pitch a fit as i would think this isnt fair to discipline a user for using a lot of data when they pay for unlimited.

I'm unlimited and rarely use 10 gigs. Just pay for the moments when a WiFi isn't around. I've tethered maybe 500mbs a month, don't see a problem with that. Those using huge amounts for their home should be throttled.

I don't think they're throttling people who are using a ton via legitimate means.
The note did say they will throttle those who are using massive amounts of data via means that are in violation of the terms and conditions of use.
People using hacks to get around tethering limits are one of them.
