I just switched to the Focus from the Dell Venue Pro and with all the bugs the DVP had, this is quite a nice breath of fresh air. When I was using the DVP, I noticed that the alarms would always go off at max volume, regardless of what the phone volume was set to. I liked to keep the phone on vibrate at night so emails that come in don't wake me.
I figured that was a feature of WP7 and not the DVP - it seems that the alarm on the Focus is only going to play at whatever volume the phone is set to, including vibrate.
Is there any way to get the Focus to always play a loud alarm? Or (more WP7 specifc question) is there a way to only accept push notifications before 11pm and after 6am?
The alarm on my Focus has an increasing volume. It starts of low and slowly increases the volum until you snooze or dismiss it.

I used the alarm function on my old phone and it was great, it would ring and ring and ring for a minute every five minutes unless i hit snooze.
My new phone (Titan) has a terrible alarm, it can ring and vibrate and light up... for about thirty seconds, and then I get a wonderful little reminder that my alarm went off on my screen! Its such a great alarm that I was only a LITTLE late to school today.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I've been looking in the forum but have thus far not stumbled upon anything useful.
My alarm will repeat until I either snooze or turn it off.
Under clock and alarms, go to the alarms tab, then tap the bell on the alarm.
repeat will be an option as well as flash and vibrate. I use alarm5 for the sound. See if it works with that sound on your device....
I noticed something last night after setting my alarm for the first time. If my phone is set to vibrate or silent the alarm doesn't sound, even if I tick the box "sound alarms even when the device is set to silent or vibrate" in the cloks and alarms folder in "All settings"
I've found that this is becasue in the profiles silent and vibrate, the system volume is set to 0. The only way I can get my alarm to sound is if I turn the system volume up. However, if I increase the system volume up on either of these profiles (eg select vibrate, keep rinder on 0, and set system volume to 50% for example), after about 20 seconds it automatically swaps to the profile "Normal". the normal profile then has the settings I set for vibrate ie, ringer 0, system volume 50. If I select vibrate again it goes back to the default vibrate settings, ie ring 0, system 0. Why does it automatically go back to normal, and thus altering normal, and can you personalise each profile?
I want to be able to set a profile where the ringer is off so I'm not disturbed by phone calls in the night, but where the system volume is on so my alarm will wake me in the morning. I can set it to profile and adjust the ringer volume using the side volume controls, which is my solution for now, but I would like to be able to do it by selecting a profile.
Cheers
I’ve got exactly the same problem. Having Xperia X1 previously windows had a simple option to set off the alarm even when the phone is in the night mood, so I wasn’t bother by anything during the night and have my reports in the morning. Not anymore with my new HTC HD2. If anyone have a solution please share it with us.
There is another problem of mine. As previously Xperia X1 let me show the time across the whole tabs in the tab/notification bar, again HTC HD2 doesn’t seem to have that function, or does it?

I'm sure I came across an option for this whilst exploring my phone, but I can't remember where. If I find it again I'll let you know, unless I'm totally losing the plot and there isn't the option and I've just made it up lol
I've had my audible selection box checked since the first day, but last night everything seems to have gotten much louder. Typing on the keyboard was always a welcomed sound, but it is out of control annoying now. I didn't change anything. The only thing that changes it is to either put the ringer down to vibrate or shut it off in the setting all together. Is anyone aware of how to control the volume for these functions?
This bug has been around since the TP. No idea why it has migrated operating systems..
Anyhow, try this. Set your notification volume to max. Wait a few seconds, and go into your notification tones and play one. Immediately after it has finished, play it again. Notice the first time it played, the volume was substantially quieter. The second time it played, it actually used max volume as per your setting.
This greatly effects notifications with just a few bytes of sound and not an ongoing ringtone. An ongoing ringtone will begin quieter than full, and then pick up to full volume or whatever you have in your settings but the first few sound bytes will always be quiet.
If you have notifications set for text or email, you will never hear your notifications at full volume unless it`s an ongoing ringtone (and who the hell wants that!).
I cant believe this hasn't been addressed yet. I have already tested this with three stock DHDs (but none with any custom roms.)
After my meeting with the regional HTC rep this week I will load a custom ROM onto my DHD and test further.
Feel free to post your findings! Would like to know if this issue is present in custom roms as well.
EDIT: Initial problem (/w TP2) discovered here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-touch-pro-2/80017-speaker-volume-quiet-then-loud.html
I have just tried what your talking about.
but it doesnt seem to happen on my phone..
My phone was set to silent, then uped it to max,
went to my sound settings - notifications, selected the one i usually use,
sounded normal..
tapped it 4 more times.. no difference.
I think I know what you mean, at the home screen if you use the volume rockers and kee increasing, I can hear the volume getting louder as I press even when the volume on screen bar is at max.
I found that even at max it was still too quiet. I got my tones into SoundForge and increased the volume by like 50% and its nice and loud now

That's definitely something to consider.. good idea, I need to try that!... We're you able to do this with notification tones or just ring tones?
Just to note if you keep pressing the notifications you won't hear a difference, its the very FIRST sound that comes from the speaker will be quiet after a short rest of a few seconds.
Turn off the screen as well.. wait a couple of seconds, turn it back on, play a sound and then play it again and you'll notice that the second time it plays is a lot more audible (playing at max volume).
I just increased the volume on a ringtone(mp3) I want and put it on the sd card, and selected it as my ringtone. I did the same with a tone I wanted as my sms, but saved it in the notifications folder. I've only done it with my ringer and sms tone so far. Temporary fix but if I'm trimming my tones on my pc I can increase the volume as well, hopefully I don't have to keep doing it for long. I haven't tried the roms with volume fixes yet.
Using Revolution 4.0 and seems to be working fine.
Just wanted to post back. After rooting and roming the issue definitely has not ceased. I've learned to cope and will eventually make some tones that have amped volumes with some PC apps.
Still annoying though.. tested on 9 DHDs so far. Not one didnt have the issue. Ugh.
Hi guys. I used to have a problem with my LG V10 volume rising from vibrate when at work. I would set it to vibrate in the morning and then randomly around midday, the ringtone would kick back on just to the lowest level. I thought it was an issue with the phone that I had so when I moved to the Note 7, I was looking forward to no longer having to worry about it.
Now my Note 7 is doing the same thing. I lower it to vibrate, and then randomly it pops back up. Now I'm wondering if there is something in Android I need to disable to keep this from happening. It went off today in a meeting with one of my VP's - not a good thing. I need to get to the bottom of this. Please let me know your thoughts!
Thanks!
So I just did a little testing, and when the ringtone is set to vibrate and I get a call and it starts to vibe, if I press any buttons to stop the vibration, it will raise the volume one notch. This seems crazy to me, is anyone else getting this? Tested several times and getting the same thing each time.
