Alarm, profiles and sounds problem/question - HD2 General

I noticed something last night after setting my alarm for the first time. If my phone is set to vibrate or silent the alarm doesn't sound, even if I tick the box "sound alarms even when the device is set to silent or vibrate" in the cloks and alarms folder in "All settings"
I've found that this is becasue in the profiles silent and vibrate, the system volume is set to 0. The only way I can get my alarm to sound is if I turn the system volume up. However, if I increase the system volume up on either of these profiles (eg select vibrate, keep rinder on 0, and set system volume to 50% for example), after about 20 seconds it automatically swaps to the profile "Normal". the normal profile then has the settings I set for vibrate ie, ringer 0, system volume 50. If I select vibrate again it goes back to the default vibrate settings, ie ring 0, system 0. Why does it automatically go back to normal, and thus altering normal, and can you personalise each profile?
I want to be able to set a profile where the ringer is off so I'm not disturbed by phone calls in the night, but where the system volume is on so my alarm will wake me in the morning. I can set it to profile and adjust the ringer volume using the side volume controls, which is my solution for now, but I would like to be able to do it by selecting a profile.
Cheers

I’ve got exactly the same problem. Having Xperia X1 previously windows had a simple option to set off the alarm even when the phone is in the night mood, so I wasn’t bother by anything during the night and have my reports in the morning. Not anymore with my new HTC HD2. If anyone have a solution please share it with us.
There is another problem of mine. As previously Xperia X1 let me show the time across the whole tabs in the tab/notification bar, again HTC HD2 doesn’t seem to have that function, or does it?

I'm sure I came across an option for this whilst exploring my phone, but I can't remember where. If I find it again I'll let you know, unless I'm totally losing the plot and there isn't the option and I've just made it up lol

Anyone else having problems with the alarm clock not ringing on the Magic?

Sometimes, my default android alarm just doesn't ring in the morning, even though i'm sure it is supposed to ring..
The screen just turns on at the alarm time, giving me an option of snooze or dismiss, but there is no sound or vibrate notification at all.
I've googled it up, and seems like a ton of ppl are having this issue.
Anyone here know a quick fix regarding this? thanks!

I found that the stock sounds were too short to wake me up so I downloaded a new clock app for free called digital clock. It has worked great for the last week I have been using it
change time zone
I have the same problem until i change the timezone to the correct one, then it worked for me.
I had this problem with my Rogers Magic also -
When you're inside the "choose an alarm sound" menu and scrolling through the list,
if you press the volume buttons on the side of the phone then you can manually adjust
the alarm sound (mine was set to 0). Not sure what causes it to set to zero,
presumably when you take the phone off silent mode it sometimes fails to update the
alarm as well? This still needs looking at because it means the alarm volume resets
to zero of its own accord, but it can at least be managed by manual readjustment.
Hope this helps!
P.S. It might also be worth noting that when I was having this problem, no
third-party alarm apps would play the stock alarm sounds either.

lol I had this problem way back in my g1 days. I've tried everything from not closing the app from not allowing the phone to sleep. It seems to work at
random. This bug never seems to have been addressed with any updates or in the roms. I just use my alarm clock, its a hell of a lot more reliable. If you travel just get one of those clam shell clocks like my dad uses haha.

That's it right there.

Volume autosets itself to silent

Today I experienced a strange issue with my Leo. The ring volume autosets itself to silent. I manually increase it to max (both ring and system) using the volume keys but immediately after exiting the volume control window it sets itself to silent. I tried to set it to vibrate only but - same thing, it goes to silent again. The sound icon in the taskbar shows normal volume (i.e. not silent). When I receive a call it does not ring nor it vibrates. Its silent. The device plays music and sounds normally. I believe there must be a registry key that somehow was changed but I'm not sure which program might have caused that.
I use Phonegate call filtering app and Iconsoft PhoneX but cannot find anything in their settings that would cause it. Also tried removing them - no effect. Soft reset - many times
HR may be?
are you sure it is setting to silent? it could be that the chosen ringtone doesn't exist anymore? Try changing to a different ringtone and back again.
Tried that but still with no success
hmm, could it be that you have an appointment set, and the phone set to go silent during appointments?
Stupid me! In the windows sounds and notification settings, Notifications tab I found that for the Incoming call event the ring type was mysteriously changed to NONE when it should be set to RING. I don't know how could this happen by itself... But thank you, samsamuel for your logical suggestions and sorry for posting before thoroughly check my device.
hehe no worries, it generally turns out to be something simple.

System and Ringer Volume issue

Hi,
I searched the forums and found few threads for this windows mobile issue but no solution or what so ever.
Issue is with Overall Volume settings and controls.
I was previously an IPhone owner and i just recently moved to this amazing phone, however i do miss my Iphone for its few simplicity and user friendly setting options.
When my iphone was use to be in idle situation (not silent) and i use the volume rockers it use to change the ringer lever but it didnt change the media playback volume or in call earpiece volume. And When i was in a call, using the volume rockers would make adjustments to just the earpiece volume without changing any other volume setting. And when playing media it will just change the volume level for the media. This is a very natural behavior as we all would expect from our device.
But with my HD2 it gets really confusing and annoying at the same time that i dont have indivisual level of volume setting for in call, ringtone, and media playback.
I understand that we have the option to seprate the system/ringer volume level but still it doesnt work at it should.
I want to keep my ringer type/level to be at vibrate most of the time and my system to be at full or wtv level based on my preference at that time. But i want my phone to vibrate for text messeges and emails or wtv alerts i turn on. Just like how it was with iphone, if my phone was on silent(and vibrate setting on) my ringer wudnt sound and neither wud my text msges wud sound but my phone wud vibrate on text messages when vibration was turned on.
But with this phone if my ringer is at 0% volumes and system is anything above 0% my text messages wud vibrate and sound. how ever my text message sound should be attached to the ringer volume level not the system level volume.
Scenarios:
1).
System/ringer level same == no.
ringer level = 0%
system level = 50%
sms notification = on
In this above scenario if i receive a call my phone shud only vibrate and not sound. if i receive a text message it shud only vibrate but not sound. and if i play media it shud be at 50% level and my call volume shud be at 50% aswel.
But right now if i get a phone call my phone wud not ring but it will vibrate.(which is good). If i get a text message it sounds and vibrate (not good). media is at 50% level (good) and my call level is good aswell.
i am looking for a solution that would give me 2 things. First thing is to allow me to choose if i want vibration at all or no. And secondly make my notification attached to ringer volume instead of system volume.
i am sure alot of ppl are looking for this solution and would agree that this phone lacks volume settings and options.
thanks
Prince
Volume controls
Same gripe here..
Unable to get unilateral volume control on this magnificent phone.
Sometimes, its as if the smarter the phone, the dumber the remedial tasks can be.
Its not the perfect fix, but this is what I have mine set for.
Under Audio and display settings:
PROFILE: is set for normal
VOLUME:
ringer volume at zero
system volume at 50%
RING AND NOTIFICATIONS:
Ring type: Vibrate only
Notification Sounds: OFF on all..
That way, sms and email only display the green light on ear bar, rather then the chimes..
and music volume is adjustable without triggering the volumes back on..
Hope that helps.
You can choose to set independent settings for system and ringer volume control or set them up to be the same with the vol rocker keys. It is available in the settings.

myModes and issues...

For starters, coming from a Nokia world, I'm surprised that many other platforms(except BB) dont have profiles built in! That's crazy!
So I was surprised to see that the Mytouch4g has its "modes" option.
Using it however I have noticed that you cant really set volume for ringtones and notifications with these things. All I can do is either turn it off or on and change the tone of the ringtone etc based on the mode selected.
That's not useful
I still have to set the phone on silent etc when going into a meeting or going to bed etc....
Am I missing anything?
I also noticed that changes made to the Normal Sound profile stick...as in Ringer volume at 50% and Notification Volume at 25%....
But changes made to the Silent Profile dont..everytime I get out of it and come back....all notification volume levels are set to 0.
What's the point in letting us set it if it doesnt stick?

LG G3 quiet mode

LG need to address the problem with quiet mode.
It seems it would be easy to have a sub menu in each mode, sound, vibrant and quiet
So you can decide what led notifications, vibration and sound you receive.
I have to turn sound off, turn vibrate off and turn off Led notifications and make sure it is set to priority, so the alarms works.
It should be easier than that!!
I agree with this. I use my phone as my alarm but I don't like to get woken up by text messages or phone calls when I'm trying to sleep so normally I put my phone on silent. But with this do not disturb setting it's a pain in the backside having to manually set priority alerts on. Surely they could just add another toggle setting to the button on the notification bar so it goes 'Sound/Vibrate/Priority/Do Not Disturb'.

I don't really know what you problem is... if you're in priority mode every single thing of your list get turned off automatically! Except for media volume. Just make sure you don't use "Do not disturb"-Mode if you still want to hear your alarm.
cheers
Yup. Set mine to priority every night and no led notifications, no vibrate, no nothing other than alarm in the morning.
