I have some Apps that are not from Marketplace, but are Free as the Authors published them on their websites etc.
I cannot load any of the Anymore. Does someone have the same issue?
[Update]
http://www.chevronwp7.com/ says, that the phone can relock while talking with the MS servers, so this is what happens when you cannot start your homebrew software anymore!

Hello,
I have a question about the security or safety of the apps on Android Market. I've been following Android since the G1 but only got my first Android phone with the N1 about 2 weeks ago.
Is there anyone policing the market and apps available? Or is the Android market environment much like the PC environment where it's up to the user to do their due diligence and install only software they feel is safe?
I installed a language keyboard the other day and upon activating it I got a warning about how the app/keyboard MAY have the ability to track my keystrokes and so on and so forth. I installed another one and it appears to be the same warning with all keyboard's other than stock.
Also, in regards to social networking apps that aren't made by the original party (such as Twitdroid/Seesmic for Twitter, Meebo, MSN Droid/Talk for the various IM services out there), do these 3rd parties store your names and passwords on their servers or are they merely acting as gateways or middleman? I'm curious to know how much these 3rd parties have access to when it comes down it and what sort of information I'm trusting to these 3rd parties.
Thanks.
Hi everyone,
I see there are plenty of antiviruses for the android. Is viruses for the android very common? (Ie. Like windows virus is much more rampant vs macintosh?) What kind of precaution should we take to prevent our gadgets from being affected? (Ie. Downloading apps from untrusted sources? Via sms/email?) Is it really necessary to install an antivirus? If so, what is recommended?
Thank you!

I wouldn't get a virus scanner if I were you...they are pointless because the android system is possibly the most secure system in completion with the RIM Blackberry! Just make sure that every time you download an application that you are aware of the "permissions" that you are giving it and you should not get a virus anytime soon

How is it the most secure system? There are apps out there that access things that they don't need to access, i'll give you a few examples:
Applications that I have installed that can track my location:
Alchemy
IMDb
Why would a GAME such as Alchemy NEED to track my location? Why would IMDb need to track my location?
Apps that can read my mobile number, serial number or other data:
Alchemy
Unblock Me Free
These apps listed are only apps that I don't see them needing to access what they have the ability to access. How many people do you think have alchemy and IMDb installed? It would be so so SO easy for someone to write a malicious app that looks legit..that's just my 2 cents...not saying it doesn't exist not saying it does...
Also, only reason I have an antivirus app is because I have lookout installed and the only reason I installed that is so if I lose my phone i can lock it remotely and wipe it if needed.
How is that possible, that there are now at least two applications in Windows Store without valid Icon

search for "Your Horoscope"
or even completely useless apps?

Is the certification/validation process turned off or what is happening? I guess Microsoft is trying to fill the Store before general availability no matter what
As long as its not against Marketplace certification guidelines Microsoft (and neither Apple) will keep Apps out of their respective Marketplaces. Of course this means that we will encounter the same ****ty Apps we already saw on iOS, Android and WP7 once more. All the annoyances the internet has to offer will be on board as well. Fact is: there ARE people who download this stuff: fart apps, soundboards, etc.
Other Apps contain information that will not be relevant for lots of users but might be interesting to some.
I totally agree that these Apps are not what I want to see in the Marketplace and I also agree that many people won't welcome those. But the flipside would be developers complaining that Microsoft was keeping their work (how much or little it might have been) out of the market although there were customers.
How to install Windows apps offline ? It is possible or not
Non-store apps, yes. Search for "appx sideload developer registration" or similar.
Store apps, not so much. Why would this be needed?
You can install them online from the store or sideload them offline as GoodDayToDie shows.
From there they can run offline fine unless they specifically require an internet connection like facebook (most of the facebook apps actually cache a little bit of your news feed but of course without internet you wont get a fresh one or be able to update status).
I have a free application published on Google Play. I want to add some new features and ask users to 'pay' for them with Facebook shares or tweets.
Scenario:
1. User updates application
2. New features are available in settings but they are not active
3. To activate feature user has to share information about my application on FB or on Tweeter
4. Only if sharing was successful feature will be available to the user.
For me it seems like a good idea to spread information about application in social media... however I can't find any 'out of the box' solution (library or code). Is there any?
Has anybody tried this approach and was it successful?
Also I'm trying to find out if this method is compliant with Google Play policy. I've read play.google.com/about/developer-content-policy.html with great care but I didn't find any clues. Has anyone got any policy violations emails from Google after implementing this method?
Maybe you can find something in the Facebook API.

What do you use to code? There's tons of assets for Unity that'd do what you're trying to do.

I'm not using Unity but develop my app in 'pure' Android SDK.
Just found this library: http://www.codeproject.com/Tips/457153/How-to-integrate-Facebook-Twitter-Linkedin-in-Andr
It looks promising so I'll give it a try.
You mean reward users for posting on Facebook or any social share, sure I dont think its that hard,
just everytime a user presses on the Share button add some coins to him ingame, you can also make
alot of money if you reward useres for watching a video ad in your game like a Vungle ad.
