Strange Boot up Message on 7501

Afternoon All,
I just picked up a 7501 at CompUSA, and noticed a strange message after a soft reset on the boot loader screen: "For Test Only. Not For Resale." Anybody ever seen this? Any ideas? Anything that I should look for in the unit to see if it differs from a "production" model?
Everything seems to work, and to be the stock WM6 ROM (17745.0.2.3). Going to find my copy of mtty and see what sort of data I can pull out of the boot loader.

Same message happens on my 7501 here. Also aquired from Comp USA one week ago. I did an extensive search and found nothing about why this specific message is displayed. Maybe someone "more in the know" can let us know.

See if Midget can help you with this. This may be of interest to us if you have something not yet released or something that got out by mistake.

seems you have a pre-production bootloader. a similar thing happened with the universals.

download the shipped rom here

Is there a similar link to the shipped ROM for the x7500? This would make me feel more confident in flashing to WM6... g.
**EDIT** Before I get flamed, I just thought about looking in the FTP site, which I found by going to the wiki. I assume this is the latest??

same thing here except i ordered mine 7501x from Amazon. I downloaded the ROM update from HTC america before i got the unit, but i updated it without a hitch and now that message went away, however i seem to have lost the Opera browser as one of my programs...anyone confirm that?

I switched mine to the new ROM as the one with the not for resale is pretty buggy, and I still have Opera.

Touch dual...disappeared!!

Hi, anyone noticed that today in all the european HTC's web sites niki (aka touch dual) has disappeared!?!?!?
someone can tell me why?!?

Yup, it's missing, still on the non euro sites though.

Maybe a new software fix will bring new features like wifi or gps and they have to change the page
I probably shouldn't get my hopes up..

I don't think they'd take it off the market because they just presented the RED Touch Dual in Barcelona .......... wouldn't make much sense, would it?!
Let's wait a few more days. Send them e-mails if you like, to see if they reply

[Q] Had Activation Code But After Formatting Card . PLEASE HELP

i WAS SO HAPPY WITH LIVE SERVICES ON MY HTC HD 2 , i got it after so long . I wanted to get my card available for wp7 but in the process to that i formated the card . Due to formation the windows files got deleted and now its not reactivating . guys please help me so i want a new activation code anyone so kind to give please "pm" me

You have to hard-reset WP7 for your old Activation code to work .

I was in the same situation as you are now. Set up Wp7 with 2gb sdcard, activated windows live, realized that 2gb are too low, installed again with 16gb card one day later. Activationcode didnt work then :O
But it worked after I unlocked my hd2 with chevron and this HOWTO: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912218
So go for it and unlock it first that it will be reconized as HD7 and try again.
P.S.: I saw a thread somewhere in the wp7-hd2 section where a guy posted some activation codes.

i really appericiate your apply but the problem is i have unlocked and then even tried to do the activation but couldnt be successfull . Hey please try to remmber where you saw that post and give me the link it would be a blessing

If you already have your activation code then you don't need another.
Just re-flash WP7, re-unlock (also reg hack as HD7) then add live account and use same code.
If it doesnt work you are not entering code correctly.
If not re-phone support and get code again and explain your previous isn't working or get a new code for new live account.

Where did you store the code number? Or did they not email it to you? Call back the MS support that issued your code number, as when you gave them your details. Thats what they use to give you your own code number back.
You can only use your code 3 times. Then its back to them with your detials, to get a new number.

If you feel you need a new code then get one, it's very easy.
Go to Microsoft helpdesk website (Google it). Click get support, click general help (I clicked the windows 7) then chat, then simply state that you are setting up your windows phone 7 and it's asking for an activation code, they wanted a name and who made my phone (HTC) then gave me the code. Even said if there was a problem to chat back for another one hope this helps

guess what i called up the microsoft guys and got the code it was a piece of cake all you need to have is some skills of conversation , now im going to login with new activation code thanks everyone though your views and your replies helped me alot

[Q] problem with htc hd2 wp7

i have the ___US t-mobile htc hd2___ and I'v done all the flashing to get wp7 on my phone and have got the activation code from MS but when i try and download anything off the market it tells me (Can't get this info right now. check back in a little while.) well not let me was i sappost to do something before i put the activation code in or is there some type setting im sappost to change. plz up been like this for 2 days or at less point me in the right way thank you

hello, long time i dont came to this site but here i am again for some help if possible "hope im not breaking any of the foruns rule".
The thing is, i saw someone on the forum talk about Cellphoneunlocker website to unlock the phone, so i went there and paid for the service... they sent me those spam mails to check the imei and such and that S/N thing but since i couldnt type what they asked (To find the KBH (S/N) just press : >*<<*<* (right arrow, star, left arrow, left arrow, star, left arrow, star), so i removed the battery and there it was.
Sent it but im already waiting for 2 weeks, i even tried to contact via online chat but was online on that window for (lol) 9 hours and still nothing, typed on the testimonials thing and they didnt even posted my comment "and no i wasnt using any rude words but i wanted "
Anyway i wanted to know if theres any other website TRUSTABLE for that matter, and if i get a unlock code from that website... does my phone bricks after an update or thats just for bootlock ?

Got the unlock code after like a week or so after i posted here... but man, they take ages atleast for xperia play.
Guess you can trust them, but you will have to wait for it like ages, try to contact them first by email or live chat.
