As of yesterday, My gmail account on my phone shows no mail at all. I have deleted and recreated the account. It says the certificate is not valid and asks me if i want to continue on my first send and receive after that, but I still get no mail. My Gmail account has mail, I can access it from the pc no problem. If I send to myself it appears in my inbox on the pc. I have no clue of what else to check

The invalid certificate issue is almost always caused by the host computer (in this case, your phone) having the incorrect date. If you phone says it's 2012, any certificate that expires in 2011 will automatically be considered expired and thus invalid.
If you are dual-booting Android, your phone's date will be set in the future. Not sure why this happens, but it does every time for me.
Thanks! that was exactly it! This forum rocks!

not sure how this is happining or if its my mistake. but this has happenened to my more than once. the phone simply decides to deletes all emails prior to a spesific date without any confirmation. thank god that there it a copy of them in the deleted folder on exchange server
anybody else suffering from this?
Normal
This is normal, outlook is designed so it only keeps emails from a certain number of days into the past, according to the email settings.
Enter you email settings and tell it to keep the emails from the maximum allowable time, I can't remember how long but the increments were something like Today, last 3 days .... etc.
it deletes all mails that are no longer on the server, nothing to do about it, except as a workaround maybe moving important mails from inbox to antother folder
correct me if im wrong here
but i am under the impression that the number of days in the activesync options is only for the initial sync with your exchange acount
I have the same problem. Once in a while my Gmail Inbox is empty. Glad it is saved in 'All Mail' but the behaviour is very irritating
Are you connecting to your mailbox, i.e. gmail-server or just syncing with your Outlook?
When using POP3 to connect to the gmail-server, it will download all mail to your phone, and thus delete the messages on the server.
Try to connect via IMAP4 and go to the settings of your gmail-account on your phone. There you can change the number of days to something like all messages- just for your gmail-account.
The phone handles "imported" mail from outlook like a "real" email-account on the net. Thus, you can set the number of days independently for each account.
i use exchange outlook
why cant widows mobile be like blackberry it keeps all the email(compressed text on the phone) even when you remove the email to the local pst file it still stays on the device
I doenst matter if it imap or pop3, you can setup pop3 to leave a copy of the mail on the server btw.
But as soon as the mail is no longer on the mailserver (for example after downloading without keeping a copy on the server with your desktop pc) windows mobile will delete the mail from its inbox to next time you check for new mails.
I've got two problems with this phone.
1. even though I have selected to download full email including attachments in ActiveSync, for most emaiks only the headers were downloaded.
2. is there a way to delete email on htc sense UI rather than opening up the Windows mobile email interface
if you have opened the e-mail from the htc sense e-mail app you can delete it.
but that and other things don't seem to work with imap. I delete an e-mail and I don't see it anymore but it is still there when I go to my account and it isn't even flagged as "to be deleted". and it can't seem to see mail that are older then 1 week ago. stupid app
I think I'm experiencing the same problem. I have a gmail account setup on the phone i have it set to check every 30mins.
If I delete an email on my phone, it goes to the recycle bin but even after another sync, i can log onto gmail account via the computer and the email is still there, which means I have to delete it via the computer if i really want to get rid of it. Its a bit of a pain.
I previously setup a hotmail account and when I deleted the email on the phone, after another sync it would delete it from the account proper.
Does anyone know if this is due to any specific settings?
Thanks
Hello all, ive just bought an omnia 2 to replace my stolen HTC diamond and i am so glad i did, this phone is great.
I am having problems with getting my emails.
This phone ( windows mobile 6.5 , the htc was 6.0 ) does not allow me to have the default "outlook" account connect to my company mail server (not exchange).
1st of all, id like to know if there is any way around this, to make the default "outlook" account receive the mails from a pop3 account (which is our company's email service)
If this is not possible, we move on to my 2nd problem.
I have created another email account, lets say i named it : "Psit" I have accidentally put the wrong logins for this account, so i cannot receive. I got a could not log in to this account message from my phone once, but it stopped showing me this error. It just does not receive emails. When i try to go to OPTIONS to edit the logins i get the following error: Cannot change account options. An account is sending or receiving messages. I said: okaaaaaay, tried to delete the account, same error message. I tried to remove the emails from active sync, didnt change anything because that account has nothing to do with my PC anyway.
I tried to reboot the device, connect it through wifi, nothing !
Any help would be really appreciated because i love this device and i want to make it work.
p.s. The best senario would be to be able to somehow "fool" the default "outlook" account on the phone in order to receive my emails directly AND sync the same folder with my PC !
Hi, I've been fooling around with my email the whole day today, so let me try to answer you.
If you want to receive pop3 email, try creating a new email (not active sync). I'm of course talking about the pull mails. You can choose pop3 or imap4, which yours is pop3. type in the outgoing and incoming servers (you can find out from your IT department) and you're good to go.
As for your second problem, I don't quite understand. Is Psit a activesync account?
Hey guys, I'm not sure if this is a Newb question.. but i'm kinda stumped.. it's funny cause i have everything else down to a reflex.. (registry hacks, flashing, etc) but this is posing to be a irritating problem for me...
My outlook mail account dows not retrieve mail until i sync with my laptop.. which kinda sucks IMO... but then i noticed the Microsoft Direct Push tab.. and it states that it would retrieve OUTLOOK mail as it arrives.. so i'm trying to set it up and I am currently stuck.. ANY HELP??
after i enter my outlook e-mail and password, it then asks me for a UserName.... The password box is already filled in... Then it asks me to fill in a Domain... and then a Server Address... so yea.. i don't know exactly what i'm supposed to put in here.. any help guys?
It's not quite as simple as it looks like it should be unfortunately.
For push email to work correctly, the phone must sync with a Microsoft Exchange server. It wont just sync with your POP3 based email via outlook in push mode.
You have a few options however...
1. Manually configure your phone to send/recieve via POP3/SMTP every 5 minutes.
2. Use Google Sync. Google sync is basically a fake exchange server which you can connect your phone to. You need to set up a gmail account, and then have all your regular email forwarded to it, then you can set up Push Email on your phone to sync with your gmail account in realtime. This is what I have done to get around the problem as I don't have my own exchange server.
Full instructions are on the Gmail site.
The only downside is that at present, any replies you send from your phone will show up in the recipients inbosx as coming from your gmail address, not your regular email address. This isn't a problem for me as I rarely reply from my phone.
Hope this helps!

wow.. that sucks lol
thanks though man.. appreciate the help
No problem. Unfortunately it's a limitation of the protocol, not the phone. Direct push can not work over POP3/SMTP, it needs an exchange server to actively "push" the emails to any device or inbox.
So when I first booted up my 920 I was asked to sign in to live using the email I log into xbox with (i use gmail) so I did and everything showed up and work except when I try and DL something from the market place, it keeps saying it needs email/acct verification and to check my gmail. I have checked every nook and cranny looking for an email in my gmail and see nothing?
any thoughts?
thanks
It keeps saying my hotmail pw is incorrect if I go into settings--accounts.....its obviously not a hotmail account, but it is the account I use to sign into xbox live
You now have a Microsoft-Account that is using a GMail-Address for identification. You could try going to www.outlook.com and log in with your Microsoft Account (Gmail-Address + Password) there. I can't imagine the verification mail could have ended up there but it's the only thing I can think of right now.
