Hello,
i'm wondering if there's a way i can utilize the lightning fast 4g on the hd2? i'm in orlando, which is like the biggest 4g area. Is it a radio? android build? (i don't want a NAND build yet. still SD card). Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Im in orlanfo too. Trust me an nnd build is awesome. No more windows

HD2 isn't 4G capable, it's HSDPA (3.5G) capable (up to 14Mbps), but that's it --- Either way, if your Mobile downloads/uploads at 600KB+/200KB+ when you're in HSDPA aren't fast enough, you wouldn't be happy with 4G because unless you're climbing halfway up the tower, you won't get 4G speeds like they advertise --- Either way, 5MB is more than enough for Mobile
OH. i thought it was.
i do understand that i'm not ganna get 14mbps, but i know people who average around ten. its crazy.

In certain parts of San Antonio I can get about 7ish, it's nice and fast but anything more isn't really going matter --- The delay will always be there, it's not like you're downloading 4GB files on your phone on a regular basis, we're talking 100MB tops and at 8Mb/s or 25Mb/s...it's going to fluctuate and it's going to have delays.

that also makes sense.
on the topic of t-mobile, what ROM do you use? i can't seem to get MMS working on mine (superRAM_sense), no matter what i try.
Hardware radio in hd2 is only capable of hsdpa 7.2mbps.. g2, mytouch 4g, and some of the new stuff 14.4mbps, rocket 4g data stick is 21.6mbps.. Again this is a limitation of the hardware.. Any speed test showing above this are false... Google is your friend!!
swyped from my Desired HD2
Is the HD7 4G capable?

I use NAND now so trying to find a build that is mostly stock with the MMS fix but it's hard to come by, I'm about to flash Frankinstine DROID v1.1 though and give it a try.

No, HD7 is just an HD2 with an Evo look and a soldered on Micro-SD card that boots WP7

Hey, im not sure if any of you noticed but i had a nexus one which was a great phone! but it seems the vibrant is much fast when loading pages and pulling in data on edge and 3g. It's hard to explain what i mean but it's just a little more powerful. anyone else notice this? when you download apps, especially on 3g.. it's like #pow! and installed... very zippy!
just wanted some opinions. I can't wait until a real rom is generated for this phone and they create a 3200 mah battery for this. IM BUYING IT lol
Also yall should try Skyfire browser from the market and set your browser to open as Desktop rather than android or iPhone. Even on edge, the pages open so fast!
check it out!
yea, the data seems quite zippy on the phone, even if the speed readings are a bit inconsistent. I did hit 5 Mbps in pasadena yesterday tho.

I'm lucky if I get .5 Mbps here in vegas.. And we supposedly have that high speed network here. I went to california not long ago and edge there completely blew away the 3g in vegas. That is very sad.

using speedtest.net i got 5.6 download speed here in richmond va
then the next day, saw 1.9 - someone on another forum said when he had spotty svc at home, he complained and Tmo sent a tech out to his tower, and a week later his was smoking with 4 bars constant
no idea how valid that report was but i'm thinking to try it

As for your battery you should just pick up some extra 1500mAh to get you by.

Look for "batteryindicator" by developer "darshancomputing" in Android Market.
Their Pro version "batteryindicatorpro" has higher icon resolution and more features.

I was blown away. There had been reports of 4g signals in Queens, but I just found out that we were getting a signal here in Brooklyn early this morning on a fluke. I tested around 4mbps indoors near a window. And the pic is the result from outside. On stability I'd rate it a 6.5. Signal did drop a few times intermittently. But pretty good overall.

This is good ol' Brooklyn, USA. Lefferts Gardens-Prospect Park area to be exact. The 3G service around here is actually pretty darn good. I average about 1.5 to 2.2 most times, so I'm not even that pressed about 4G, but I'm damn sure glad to see it is available if the occasion ever arises that I need it! Somehow I doubt, I'll be getting those speeds when the system officially roles out and is advertised.

I currently use both devices, the MT4G definitely has better battery life than my Vibrant. Data speed wise they are both about the same. In an HSPA+ coverage area I get ~6mbps down on both. I don't think you will see much greater speed than that for awhile on the T-Mo network with either device. Although theoretically the MT4G should get faster when the network opens up some more. The video chat is cool but I don't personally use it. I struggle with the screen on the MT4G after using the Vibrant for so long. Hope that helps. For me thee only solution has been to have both!

Request updated source for kernel 2.6.35.x or newer on SPH-D700.

You are leaving out the fact that the tab is 3g only. There are too many factors that differ between the epic and the tab.

Yes... But then you are going to have the other "10%" *****ing that 4g was left out. You'd be piecing something together for the sake of well... Not too sure what exactly you'd be piecing it together for. There are already a hell of a lotta existing roms out from fantastic Devs that do everything that the rom is capable of doing sans overclock, battery life and a few extras without leaving out a primary function of the phone Just cuz it's not currently available to everyone doesn't mean that it's not a function that can be removed for the fun of it. IMO we'd be taking a huge step backward.
Not being able to overclock and undervolt to me is a huge step backward. Truthfully, for me, (cause I have 4g in my area) I'm torn between the two. The ONLY reason I don't just go back to 2.1 is because of the hardcoded gps accuracy.
cd's or tapes?

I call BS on this statement. I'm in NYC, the most difficult market in the US for good data speeds due to network congestion, and 4G is consistently, at minimum, 10x the speed of 3G. Not to mention latencly is usually 90% less.

4G is for real.
I'm not sure if it is just me or does that reception on this phone plain suck? I keep going back and forward a lot to edge.. can hardly maintain 3G signal. ;/

The radio definitely does suck. The ROM and kernel I'm used are based on a world ROM with the second to latest HTC update, but does that new 1.72 OTA include radio improvements? Does HTC release change logs either?
I didn't anticipate running into problems like this but my radio sucks too. Wireless seems to be an improvement and I'm enjoying a new router at home too, but the connection to mobile networks really sucks for me. I get lousy coverage at all my main points of connectivity which is a definite bummer. I have a nice 6GB data plan which is extremely liberal for us ripped off Canadians, wish I could enjoy it more lol
Well so far apparently a chat with tmobilr has strangely fixed my issues! They refreshed my connection to their servers.

I have AT&T and had all kinds of phones and service always sucks >.< it's not so much the phone, then it is the provider. I had a Samsung Propel Pro. It was stated to be the lowest radiation data phone but, with that had really bad service all the time as well that was the only time my service being effected by a phone.
On a side note: can you image how horrid my service was with AT&T and a phone like that >.<

No changelogs from HTC, but custom ROMs don't include radios, so it sounds like you are still on an old radio version. Check your version in Menu/Settings/About Phone, and compare that to the radio versions in the thread on the dev forum.
