Actually, no - that wasn't the least bit helpful. Like the OP, I've been struggling with this topic for a while and I've searched extensively, both on this forum and elsewhere, and have found no good description of how to go about partitioning my SD card and setting it up correctly. I understand that very often people don't bother to search at all and ask questions that have been asked and answered hundreds of times before, and that such laziness is quite frustrating to people like yourself who are particularly knowledgeable and experienced - but in this one instance, I think you may have been a bit too quick to dismiss the OP's question.

You can boot from a live CD such as Ubuntu and then mount the microSD. From there, the partitions may be extended to meet your needs. The live CD will see the ext2, ext3, swap, etc. linux partitions as well as the FAT32 ones.

I helped by deleting your multiple post and moving this to General since this has nothing to do with Development.
Okayy but i still dont know how to fix it.

Did you try asking other people in the thread where you downloaded the rom from? It could be an issue with the rom.
I downloaded it from androidspin but i dont think is the rom because i flashed cyanogen and superbad and i got the same.
Is there anything else that could be a factor.

Yeah. For starters, what are the partitions of your sdcard?
Have you tried a complete reformat?
For cyanogens rom 5.0.7+ you do not need a swap partition.
If you do wish to have a swap partition then it needs to be fat32/ext/swap
Use the partition sdcard option from recovery to make sure that it is done correctly.
If you still have issues, then try a wipe, reflash of your rom and then in command prompt type:
adb shell mount
and provide the details for more assistance.
Well right now i have a 96MB ext4 partition and already deleted all of my partitions. And got the same results.

Well then it doesn't sound like you have a fat32 partition and that might be your problem.
You must have a fat32 partition on your sdcard.
Ohhh alright ill check if thats the problem.

Uhhhh... no? You can search like everyone else. If nothing comes up with a search then you can post in the appropriate thread or forum. Sorry, but I'm not your assigned technical support representative. I'm not trying to be mean but I have posted over 2,000 times in this forum and at least half of that is helping others such as yourself and I don't have time to answer fan mail.

Move to SD in CM6 Froyo

I am running cm6 with the data and cache mod. I don't need apps2sd anymore but I was curious as to how to get move to SD working in Froyo?
I have 40+ apps installed and few work when moved to SD. Once rebooted most of my shortcuts are gone and programs aren't in the app drawer.
What to do?
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
Without the Apps2SD hack only some apps can be moved to SD and those are whichever apps are created with that ability. There is an app called "app2sd" (go figure) that will show you exactly which can be moved so you don't have to waste your time looking 1 by 1
That app wont install successfully.

Do u have allow move location turned on in cyanogen settings?

with 8/29 it happens to me but i let it sit and about 1 minute later they load
hope its fixed
I'm not interested in doing this anymore. I flashed the custom mtd partition files and now have 349mb of space for apps on internal storage. I currently have 220mb free with over 50 apps installed.

howd you get that i only get 157mb when just fresh install

Batterylife and Pure Grid Calender do not play well with Froyo App2sd, I have tried to have them on sd and internal memory, both bug out on reboot and require reinstall.

What mtd partitions did you set up?
In terminal type
su
df -h
That will show your partition settings and you'll see what you system is taking up. Redo the mtd text to a few mb's over your system's.
If you still aren't sure check the thread on the mtd mod for more info.

I use this method. Partition your sd card through recovery (backup everything on it first) convert to ext3 and install this app.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&feature=search_result
just like darktremor but easier and can be used on any and every rom

Yes

There's been a solution for this since a long time. Search Google and xda for 'App2sd+'. It's a patch that'll enable you to create a special partition on the SD card to move any app to it (all non-core apps, not just ones which are explicitly enabled). The easiest way to get this feature is to use the latest CyanogenMod 7.2 RC1 ROM. It has it included by default and you can enable it in Settings>CyanogenMod settings.

You can also use a guide from 3xeno, search in development section, thread is called custom mtd partitions. The only thing is that with sense roms you won't manage lot, but its great with customs like cm.

a2sd partition ext3 and fat32 partition on the SD card, can be solved with too little memory, the software will be stored in ext3 and fat32

Swap partition

Hi,
I am using SDSL 4.0 .
It is really awesome Rom. Almost everyting working!
Thanks miro!
I herd about SWAP PARTITION . I don't know anyting about it.
Please tell me WHAT IS SWAP PARTITION ? HOW IT IS USEFUL? HOW CAN I USE IT?

swap partition is a partition (little part) on the SD card. its usually ~32-512 MB big.
swap is a little help for the RAM. big apps can be transferred to this partition if the RAM is full.
on gt540 ics/jb ROMs need swap to work properly, buzt on the other side it slows down the whole system especially with a slow SD card.
for gingerbread ROMs it's not needed but MAY improve your experience
How can i make swap partition ?
It is properly run on sdsl?
How can i transfered app to swap partition when Rom is full?
I also know more about this partition ?
Which type of partition should i make?and how?

I made a sticky thread in the dev forum about how to make one. I think i better clear somethings up, swap is used by the system to be (RAM) If you want more space to install apps then that is a totally different partition type.
