just an apps2sd+ question - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

hey,
uhm i use apps2sd+ in nexusHD2 gingerbread rom and apps are being succesfully installed in my ext4 partition.
but why is internal storage decreasing, when its not being installed in there. i read somewhere to just reboot and it'll jump back. well it does only a few mb, but its definatly decreasing... almost as much as my ext4 storage lol.
my ext4 is 1gb big, and my prognosis is that internal storage will be full after installing 300-400 mb on ext4... whats the benefit of apps2sd+ then?
i have about 50 mb on ext4 (i flashed yesterday) and internal storage decreased about 30 mb lol
i hope you guys understand what i mean

ah yes you're right...
does it affect performance, when dalvik is on sd? will system be slower?

I moved dalvik-cache on my Nexus one, and I have class 4 SD, I don't notice any difference.
And I have TMOUS HD2, so I didn't do any App2sd, I'm not sure it has the same affect as on Nexus one.

according to j disk benchmark my write performance is 5,88MB/s, so this should be class 4, too right?
edit: i have slower values for nand storage test

Looking for number on your SD, if you don't see any number, it's likely class 2.

[Q] Best NAND GB Sense 2.x rom + D2EXT

Hi guys,
I just swapped my HTC Desire with an HD2.
I'm looking for a fast and stable NAND Gingerbread Sense 2.0/2.1 rom, possibly with good performances even without OC (bugs and glitches are big showstoppers for me, of course).
Being the EU version, D2EXT or Apps2SD is required.
Currently, I'm stuck with Mikhei777's Android 2.2.1 Sense 2.0 NAND Firmware.
Could you please suggest me some other ROMS? The Android NAND Development section is quite messy.
Thanks in advance.
Help, please.
I hate bumping, but I also have a serious problem here: after installing 10 apps internal memory is (completely) gone on my HD2. The same thing never happened on my Desire thanks to Data2Ext.
I checked almost every thread in the first 5 pages of the NAND Development section, but I found nothing.

I completely agree about the speed, it's the latest rom I tried, but it can't see the 1GB ext partition on my sdcard (in fact, the free memory available on after the installation is about 80 mb only).
Do you have this problem?

there is a difference between free space and free memory available to the system, are you sure you are reading the correct one?

Naturally I'm referring to free space, of course.
Sorry for the misleading term, in Italian space and memory are synonyms.

Sure! I can't understand why. Tomorrow I'll read some logs, maybe the reason is specified there.

Nothing, I tried every single option :/ It's never seen by GBLeo, while RafDroid (for example) correctly uses the ext3 partition.
This is my current setup:
MAGLDR 1.13
CWR 3.0.2.x on NAND
System partition: 220MB
Ext3 partition on sd card (2nd partition, label sd-ext): 1024MB

[Q] Do i need a external sd card for installing a new rom?

Maybe to backup all storage to internal sd card is not enough. BEcause its size is 2 gb.
What do you say about that? Do i first buy a sd card for a better rom changing?

Full rom backup size is a little over 500mb you should be fine starting with 2gb / + internal 2gb.

[Q] Internal Memory Low Space on ICS 2.4.27-HWA

I have installed MIUI.us-Leo-2.4.27-HWA.ZIP in to my HTC HD2. Everything is working fine except Camera and phones internal memory is very low, only 25MB resulting cannot update any existing applications.
My phones total internal memory memory is 151MB and available is only 25MB.
SD card total space is 15GB and available is 9GB which is fine.
Total downloaded applications are 26 only, so it is not that I have too many application downloaded.
I moved most of the downloaded and other applications to SD card by using titanium backup. Few could not be moved for unknown reason as it does not give me option to move.
Can anyone please help me to increase my internal memory to at least at 70 or 60MB please.
Would appreciate your help.

i have used a few MIUI roms & did not have that problem
what is the data.img that you used?
are you using NAND rom? in that case what was the size of the partition you used, did you follow the recommended size?

Yes, it is NAND ROM. The recommended partition was above 200mb and I used 250mb, so it was okay.
All I need to increase my internal space at least to 60 or 70mb so that application update can be done.
Many thanks
The ROM suggested 200, but you installed 250. You just lost 50 worth o internal storage.
You'll need to install an A2SD script, in order to be able to use your sd card as an internal storage. (of course, after making an ext2 partition )

Marvlesz, I looked for 200MB partition but could not find anywhere. That's why I installed 250MB. There are only 3 options they gave which is 150MB, 250MB & 400MB. Please suggest me in details how I would be able to do ext2 or ext4 using A2SD

Formatting and other partitions, the ~13 GB is for /system, /data, /sdcard partitions but there are other partitions in the Android OS as well that you can't see as they have been hidden such as recovery, boot and radio. Plus, some of that is lost due to formatting overhead and etc.

Depends as well. A lot of newer RPG/Action games can get up to a GB in size, but most I have are still only a few hundred MB.

[Q] SD Partition

I already partitioned my sd card months ago but this totally bothered me. I 2nd partition is 1gb and when i open settings->apps->manage applications, it still shows that my internal memory is only 190mb. What seems to be the problem?

You want to increase you internal storage?
Cant see what you want dude
Are you using any mods?
Sent from my Galaxy Pocket with rooted stock ROM
There is no problem here
use link2sd to mount your 2nd partition then you can link apps to free up internal storage so you can install more apps
your total internal storage will not increase - only available storage if you link apps to sd card that are currently on internal or have lib files on internal
on most deodex custom roms after you have installed around 80 apps you will have between 30mb & 60mb of free internal storage depending on the data & cache of apps

I know how to mount the 2nd partition. All i want is to see that my internal memory has inreased to 1.190gb. Because in task manager, it only shows that i only have 190mb, though i already partitioned my sdcard for 1gb.

I don't believe you understand what a 2nd partition is/does
your total internal storage will not increase - that's impossible without repartitioning the internal storage & taking space from other internal partitions which would be stupid as you would take space from boot partition
an sd card partition is on your sd card so you split the total storage of your sd card into two therefore your total internal storage hasn't increased - you haven't put a bigger internal hd in
your 2nd partition size is displayed in the info in link2sd
what it does is take apps in internal space & place them in the 2nd partition - it then leaves a link file where the app was so basically the app still behaves like it's on internal but it's not
No, i understand. Well, that would be all. No problem anymore.
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
using Link2SD doesn't increase your internal memory/RAM ... Link2Sd makes it easy for Android 1.6+ users with root privileges on their phone to move applications to the "SD card".

Its possible with amarullz script
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1310309
Its a script that you put in your init.d folder.
But i cannot ensure that works on every rom/kernel kombo.
With hells fusion 50# kernel + evo x3 rom is it working (my daily use)

If you modify the fstab correctly and make userdata at least 1GB you should be fine. I've partirioned my sdcard to use external sd, cache, system, and userdata giving me much more space to install roms and apps. I'd recommend a more powerful sdcard to take away the lag
