Hi all, I am getting really slow transfer speeds over wifi and bluetooth using either ES or astro file manager. I have wifi sync working in winamp and transfers in winamp are blazing fast. I have a n router n laptop and the epic is of course wireless n. Idk what could be causing th problem. I doubt its an issue with my rom, I'm using TruelyEpic Rebirth. Has anyone else experienced really slow local transfers? Is there a way to improve the speed? It should really be very fast, faster than usb, over wireless n. Thanks

Not sure what's occuring, but if I log onto my wireless network at home with my XDA Stellar, the internet is VERY slow, slower than using HSDPA.
If I do the same with my new Nokia N81 and get onto my network, the internet speed is really good, better than any of the settings on my XDA.
Can anyone help please? I really can't understand why Wifi on the XDA is so slow.
Thanks
Does anyone have issues staying connected to wifi on their Fascinate? It seems that I can only connect for a little bit until it cuts out. It still says I'm connected but if I use the internet it says connection lost. Then when I turn the wifi on and off it works for just a little bit again.
Any help would be appreciated but for all I know, I'm the only one with this problem.
Does it happen just at your home connection or other hotspots too?

I can't say I have had that problem....what kernel/rom/modem are you running?

FWIW, wifi was absolute junk on my Fascinate when I had the Wireless Tether app installed. After uninstalling it and switching to Barnacle for tethering, wifi performance improved tremendously. Not sure if that's your issue or not though.

Before updating my wireless driver on my laptop, I couldn't connect to the AdHoc network of Wireless Tether (2.0.6) at all...zilch.
After updating my Intel wireless driver to v13.4 directly from Intel, it found and connected to the AdHoc network immediately and is working great now. No wi-fi drops.
I'm going to try Barnacle next. Just wanted to point out that wifi can be drastically affected by your wireless network card's driver...so update it if you haven't. I prefer to update my wifi cards directly from their manufacturer's site instead of the computer manufacturer unless there is no other choice.
Good luck.
All: I just got my WiFi Xoom, and I have it tethered to my (rooted) HTC Thunderbolt using WiFi Tether.
It connects fine, but seems slow when using Speedtest.net - I only get about 2Mbps Down, and less than 1Mbps up. When I tether other devices to the Thunderbolt (4G LTE) I seem to get much better performance which seems more in line with the performance it is capable of.
So, I was curious to know if there was some sort of a limitation or issue with the WiFi speeds when tethering on the Xoom? I can't say I see speed issues with the Xoom when connected to an access point at home on a cable modem.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
-Rob
I dont know but the fist time I did a speed test with my TB and my laptop was very fast over 20BM, I did reset my phone and rooted one more time, now Im having the same problem :-( if someone know please help how to fix it!
Samthing here, when using the "internet connection" mode I get 20mbps but when using PDA net or Easy Tether on my TB it's like 1.5mpbs! Anyone got any ideas?
just did 2 quick tests with wifi tether and got about 6 down.
Hi,
I recently got myself a new Type N WiFi router. On my old B/G Wifi router my SGS connected with 54MBit/s as it is supposed to do.
I was expecting to see a connection speed of 300MBit/s now (I'm not talking about the effective transfer rate, just the connection speed) but instead my SGS connects with very variable speeds to the router but never exceeding 65MBit/s.
Is this normal or do I have to do some specific settings in the phone or in the router?
my notebook computer connected at 300Mb/s while my SGS is at 72Mbps. HD(720p) playback through network is smooth.
its normal, sgs has only one antenna, look it up, for 300 Mbit u need 3 antenna.

You are talking about the transfer rate, I asked instead about the connection speed. You might be able to see this logging into your router. Your slow transfer speed probably depends of the fact that you are connected with your PC through Wi-Fi too. Connect the PC by cable and your transfer speed will at least double.

my all-time maximum is 72Mbps
and its not even effective
when transferring files it uses about half of that speed
720p is indeed smooth
I've been trying to tether to my Windows machine using the nexus 4, I get about 8-11mpbs down on the phone itself but when I tether via USB, its very, very slow, about 100-200 kbps, its also unresponsive and barely works on most web pages where they refuse to load. Unusable basically.
So I've been trying to use appa such as Tether, pdanet and easy tether, I've tried all three trying to get them to work for a few hours now and nothing, easy tether says "cannot forwardADB connection", tether gives me too many errors in the log to even type and Pdanet just doesn't work.
If anyone can help I'll be massively appreciative easy job requires the internet and my area is having downtime at the minute so I'm stuck with mobile internet.
I'm using the ADB drivers I found on the clockworkmod tether page, and 4.2.2.
Thank you.
Have you tried the built in tether app via wifi or bluetooth?

Thank you for the reply Chris, I have used WiFi tether to the Ps3 and it was fast enough to stream 1080p content, although the phone got very hot. Unfortunately I can't use WiFi or Bluetooth toggle to my computer as it doesn't have a Bluetooth single or WiFi antenna.
So I went to the local computer shop and bought a bluetooth dongle, got it all up and the same problem, it's very slow and very unresponsive, no idea what to do now.
Bump, this is horrible

You tried the native USB tether? Seems ok for me, but the port has to supply a decent amount of power, only the higher power port on my laptop will trick the nexus into thinking its being charged by a AC adaptor (supplying enough wattage). My ping and speed slightly get worse under bluetooth or wifi and it does run hotter usually as well.
