gps probs

Hi all,
Im new to the g1 and am having a problem.
I cant get my gps to locate any satellites, I am using a rooted and unlocked g1 with no data plan and just want to use gps and not agps. I know there are satellites around as I can find them with my other cell (lg incite using just the gps and not agps). I thought it might be the rom so I flashed 3 different ones with no luck on either and Ive been searching the net and on here but cant really find any help. Does anyone have a solution?

It has taken up to 10 minutes for my phone to find satellites without the data connection to assist. How long did you wait for connection?

Yikes! Have you tried in a different app? I don't really think it would make a huge difference, but weirder things have happened.

Ive tried 3 different ones with no luck. Allthough I did use google sky maps but I dont know if that was using the gps or not.

What ROM are you runnning? Radio? Rooted? Can you capture a logcat (alogcat from the market makes log capturing easy)?

Its rooted and running 2.1 but Ive flashed 4 different roms from 1.5 to 2.1 and none of them can pick up the gps signal. I will try the alogcat and post back.

I am having this problem too. Without data the G1 seems useless for GPS. Rarely it would get GPS lock. I had to put back on data and now gps lock is quick and reliable.

I've had the exact same experience on my t-mobile wildfire - > apply the OTA O/S update and Internet Sharing stopped working!!! (It worked fine before on Windows 7 and XP)
Grrrrr...
Anyone have any ideas?
I also read that a factory reset fixes the tethering issue in several places and will see how badly it fracks the phone up (or whether everything gets downloaded neatly again automatically) and report back here...

[Q] [Question] About specific Opal usage

Hello there. I have one question. Using a few random ROMs from a random chiefs I temporary stopped at Evolution 2.5a. but finded a few bugs like incorrect working Camera's interface and troubles with internet sharing. internet sharing via ICS is dummying after some time sharing internet over Wi-Fi is dummying too, after a short time too. I tried to use standard HTC tools for create connection - unuseful. Also tried Morose Media WMWiFiRouter - result wrote earlier. Can anyone tells me, in currient ROMs this bug with internet still present or not?
and what ROM you can advise?

I've used it for a very long time and found no bugs in it. Don't know about the internet sharing bcoz i didn't use it. But the ROM is pretty bug free and very stable.

Dblaster, thanx for your advise, i'll try Pajerm's ROM few days later. Tonight (it still downloading) I'll flash igomyown's ROM forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178025. in testing process I maybe find needed for me services and stay on this ROM. maybe not and try something else.
also it was great idea use Opal as wi-fi router)
and now i needed a internet, but every time install / uninstall SIM can damage Opal, what I can't accept.

Dblaster, Hello. I've tried suggested ROM, but it doesn't fit to my needs. With Internet Sharing this rom works like Jagan's Evolution 2,5A..

Hi there, Robertins. I'll try this rom, but I think it can have such problems with Internet Sharing. Can you test this part of rom? And also test a WiFi Router with functions 3g to WiFi and 3g to USB and report how it works with opal?
all problem that I have a slow connection and a limited traffic on this time and can not download much roms.. Soon this problem will be solved, and in that case Opal with correctly working ICS (internet connection sharing) will not be needed.

Tried following rom. Same bugs. standard tool ICS is bugging, WM WiFi Router works same as with Evo 2,5a.. Can anyone surely advise what I can do with this bug (Sharing internet over USB and WiFi) ?

Can u be more specific about the problem??
I mean, what the problem is? Whether the Internet Sharing works for a short while, or doesn't work at all??? Or something else???

specific problem is in that Inet sharing works a _wery_short time and hangs (it looks like all correctly working but no ping to any serv) in random types of using (as I wrote ICS by HTC / WM tools and by WiFi Router in random usage - 3g to USB and 3g to WiFi). There is a problem. As I thinking it may be linked with type of PPC. Because I tried few ROMs. All of them have same simptomes of this kind of work with HTC Opal.
I try to find where exactly problem covered. Because I (and maybe someone other users) needed in this functions.

Have u tried this thing with the stock rom yet???
I don't remember if the internet sharing was in it or not.

Yep, in stock rom ICS present, but works as in WM6.5 and 6.5.3 terrible(

Try Pajerm
Try Pajerm's ROM 4.. That is the Best....

Hi guys!
I've got this problem with my Htc HD2, i've installed the android 4.0.4 ( NEXUS HD2 ROM) but the wifi and bluetooth doesn't work at all. Please Help!

Hey, I have the same problem. Were you able to solve it? I've tried 6 different roms already. If I go to Gingerbread, then the bluetooth works. Anything on the ice-cream and above just refuses to let wifi and bluetooth work.

i have a problem with my android
i installed android on my hd2 and i changed 3 roms but i have this problem too
my problem is my wifi in not work correctly and its working Decussate
one time is working and one hour ago is not working
its may have a problem with a radio version?
and another quastion: what is good jellybeen android have a nice battery and rom speed?

Question #1: Maybe the problem isn't the phone but the router. Have you tried a different phone with that router? Or your HD2 somewhere else? And no, radio shouldn't affect your WiFi *that much*. Also, could you please elaborate more? What do you mean by "not working"? Does it just disconnects, does it stay on "scanning", doesn't it assign you an IP address? What exactly is the problem?
Question #2: All JB ROMs are good.

my problem exaclly its connected and wifi icon is goning on status and its connected but dont coonect to a internet and not open for exampel google and other sites

Try tytung's 4.2.2 JellyBean its standard ROM and its very stable, fully featured and Tytung still updates it to bring to us best from his work.
I use it by myself and im not disappointed at all. Although i prefer tablet's UI which i miss from other roms :c

Can you please answer the rest of the questions?
Is it a problem with only this wifi connection or with all connections?
Have you tried another device?
You can try setting Google DNS servers. Also, if you have security on your Wifi, try changing its type.

i tested with only one wifi and i have this problem but my accespoint dont have any problem and its working good because i very much tested with another phone and i dont have any problem

hi my friend thank you about your answer,i like 4.1 android,because i have a realy big problem with android 4.1,when i install it on my phone,my screen is not working good,and for exampel at morning my screen its just working 2seconds and its turning off my screen,i didnet fix this problem and now i installed android 4.0.1 and i tested it,if tommorow i have this problem too,the problem maybe at my screen and i should change it

If it occurs on many ROMs, its probably something inside the hardware (just guessing).
Try asking at local GSM service if You have any nearby

It's either the digitizer or the end button. Try to pull the end button after pressing and see if the problem is still there.
