is this just standard cupcake? is it themed?
standard with a blank data file
sorry if this sounds dumb, but i have been away from XDA for quite a few months now.
so you are talking about a very flashable android ROM for the vogue? meaning kiss bye bye winmo? everything works? even MMS and camera?
MMS depends on your carrier i have sprint and i can receive via picture mail(web view) but i cannot send. Everything else works YES kiss winmo goodbye i have
I followed the guide to fix my gps In windows mobile but for some reason, it still doesn't work. Would the GPS work if I flashed android instead of running it off windows mobile?

short answer, no it needs to work in win mo first. back to the drawing board. first you need to unlock your phone with an unlocker, then you need to flash an official rom preferrably from your carrier that is GPS enabled, then you can run android and use GPS on it. many tuts around. if you did all of this already, you didn't do it right. also, some programs in win mo require GPS to be primed before working. make sure to use something like google maps to test in win mo.
I'm curious. What's so great about Android on the phone?
I'm using Windows Mobile 6.1 and the phone seems to run fine.
Are there clear cut advantages or is it just "something different"?

to me the interface is superior, the apps, but mostly it's just something cool.
functionality wise I think you can achieve the same thing on Windows mobile with the right apps. Just the cool stuff like oooooo are not there on Winmo

Run Android from your sd card via haret. Then you can have winmo and android.
im having issues, I have the original 512mb card in the phone formatted twice with fat32 partition. Copied the 6 files from your zip file and flashed the nbh file via the windows ruu flasher all was good. Boots with the linux penguin but I get to the state where it says losetup: /dev/block/loop0: No Such file or directory Failed
Failed to mount data fs on SD Card.
/bin/sh1 can't access ttyl job control turned off.
Then it just sits there.
Help, I'm playing around with this on my partially broken vogue (have my good one running winmo) so I can fool around with it but I've tried everything I could.
Thanks
Have try it on my Kaiser... I know for sure it will not work.. and indeed... loop between reset and the HTC logo
is this different than the one dzo made?
my mistake i made the zip file really quick last night i will redo it. Apparent i didnt rename datablank.img to data.img i will fix and reupload but all you have to do is make sure the file is data.img
The link in the first post has been updated to reflect this change. My apologies.

If that is only the difference then we can rename it itself if you already have the files.
Question: Can you also replace the system.sqsh with a build you like?
(When you know for sure it is working.. beside if GPS/Bluetooth is working.)
And in the ROM there is: zimage, initrd and haret.exe?
the flash will not work on a Kaiser have try the new ZIP file.
I flashed this rom and it was very nice, but when i tried to sync my google account, it force closed and my contacts never synced. Is there a fix to this?
Can someone also make a Flashable rom for KAISER ... thanks..

Try scanning the card for errors. Aslo note that the data file needs to be named data.img. Between those 2 ideas you problem should be solved.
Roms
Here is a whole bunch of them
not sure which ones work perfectly, i know a couple of them work for me.
go ahead and try em out.

Even running natively instead of haret i have noticed battery life really sucks and i'm just talking about standby mode. Using the same programs on android as winmo i get about a third of the battery life. Can anyone recommend any battery saving tip. GPS is on only when needed and data is always on. I will not turn data off as it is always on in winmo and i have no issues with winmo.

★Hopefully this compilation of videos
I've been working on for the last week
or so should help you in any of your
queries about using HardSPL. Its designed
for complete noobies which dont know the
first thing about flashing.★
★Once you've watched a few, you will begin to
learn the different acronyms and be able to
recognize certain words and phrases in the
flashing process, but for now, heres a short
word list to get you started.★
★[Word List]★
LEOIMG.nbh/ruu_signed.nbh/[Randomname.nbh] - These are all the actual roms, the things you need to flash, usually they are called one of the first two names, but some rom chefs give their own names to the roms, but you can always distiguish which file you need as it will always be a "nbh" file and will always be the largest file in the archive/folder
SPL - Secondary Program Loader: Loads the actual OS. (The SPL is what lets you flash the different aspects of your device, however the stock SPL is 'CID Locked' which means only official releases from HTC can be installed.
HSPL - A 'custom' SPL created by the dark forces team (bepe and cotulla), this is CID Unlocked and it lets you install custom roms and flash any radio. The reason it is called 'Hard' is because it stays on your device after a flash, unlike 'Soft' SPL which is removed after a flash.
RUU - The official 'Rom Update Utility' from HTC which is used to do all your flashing from your pc, its essentialy a nice user interface for the SPL
CustomRUU - The custom Rom Update Utility from the dark forces team which is designed to be used with the HSPL
ROM - An operating system build from HTC, updated to bring you the newest functions and fixes
Custom/Cooked ROM - An operating system build built on a stock rom, these are created by 'Chefs or Cooks' who use 'Kitchens' to design their own roms to release to the community, these are usually alot better than stock roms and contain lots of custom tweaks from others in the xda community.

[Disclaimer: I will not be held responsible for any damage that may be caused to your device, and be warned flashing HardSPL WILL void the warranty on your device, however it can be removed, thus unvoiding it]
Ok onto the videos!
[Note/Update: In one or more of my videos I say that this will not work locked phones (as in, bought in a contract) this is wrong, HSPL does allow you to flash new roms on to contract phones (for example: flash a custom rom onto a tmobile phone) However it will not unlock the deivce]

Making any changes to your phone using HSPL WILL void your warranty, and even if you remove HSPL and, for example, you have a custom rom still on your phone, your warranty will be void. However you can revert anything you do with HSPL thus getting back your warranty, I will make sure each method is on this thread, just make sure to revert everything changed with HSPL before you remove it.
Can I flash backwards? as in - From 1.61 to 1.48. Yes you can, you can flash any rom to any other rom with HSPL (thanks mskip for filling me in )
Always back up your phone. I recomend SPB Backup, it can backup not only contacts, but your whole system (programs, reg tweaks ect) however you may encounter problems if you try to restore everything, because the backup may have been made on a different version of manila/windows mobile
Hard resetting after a flash is usually recomended, it will optimize the rom
Always bare in mind the 2 main different manila versions (2.5.XXXX), 1921 and 1922. 1921 is the older one and so has more mods and tweaks designed specifically for it. 1922 is the newest and not yet totally stable version which doesnt support much yet, (however patchs and updates are starting to surface such as one for HDWall and 25 Shortcuts
If you are getting good signal ect with your current rom, make sure you take note of the radio version, it may be a good idea to back your old radio after flashing a rom if signal is not as good
Usually you will not have to reapply HTC hotfixes as most cooked roms include them in the package, however make sure there arent any recent updates which may not have been cooked in.
Side Note: All camera tweaks from xda users are usually pre cooked in aswell. (Talk about instant meals!)

Hi,
Nice work, but i dont agree with this video.
you DO NOT have to format the SD card every time you flash.
you just copy it over and and start the flash!
Nice vids though, just abit misleading! and to be honest takes a long time, I have 4Gb of data on an 8Gb card, for me to copy it off, format, flash and copy it back would take the best part of 90 mins!!

To the OP,
Well done for putting these videos up. Should help a few people to better visualise what they need to do.
@ Silicon Squirrel,
You may be right re your point on formatting but I see it as good practice as it forces people to double check that the card is formatted in FAT 32 (a common problem).

Ok, but once you have done in once you dont need to do it again!! the card doesnt just randomly change file system while in use!!
so yeah i agree format it ONCE the first time you do it, other than that it is a waste of time!
I have never in 15 years of using computers and flash memory EVER heard of that!

Dont get me wrong, it was a constructive criticism.
maybe you could note the fact that they only need to do it once, the first time, to make sure the file system is FAT32. then they would save much time in the future!
Also i wasnt saying the format would be long, i was meaning the copying on and off that is a ball ache!!

Good vids and just to echo an above post that seeing it being done makes it so very simple and thanks very much, it certainly helps new people like myself get to grips quickly.
I'd just add in a couple of vids you might want to add a bubble of 'connect via active sync'
About the format thing, meh!.. you get a 2gig card with the phone which is useless really except for rom stuff and the like. I wouldn't bother moving stuff around, just swap the card over.
cheers!

Slight increase in speed because of MDJs S7.5 kernel, and atoores data.img. I still dont know why, but that data.img helps with warding off boot issues.
This boots very quickly!
Has a long way to go but its awesome to see gingerbread booting on our hd2s. If you need any testing done, I'd be more then happy to do what I can.
Thanks to those who have put the work into this so far!

Ok finally start android, boot very fast, and i see avery 5 minutes i lost signal cell
Say Hello World!
Send from my HD2 gingerbread.!
What I like;
-No chopper on scrolling, but maybe is because SDK don't have hardware acceleration, let's see in future.
- fast data
Great first try of getting Gingerbread on our beloved HD2. Great to see that it boots up. Hope there will be new builds with extended functionality in the future.
Big thanks to the devs!
My experience so far.
- Quick boot
- Installs .apk files from the AdroidApps folder
- A lot of lag. In fact it hangs most of the time
- No or very bad signal
- No or very bad data connection
- menu graphics are messed up

My problem i'm not programmer and don't can create a EXE to run CLK with a WP7 rom.
Can any of you view that?
Thanks for all cooker's rom
And excuse me my english language

sorry, do you mean that you think its MAGLDR that stops WP installing on some SD cards?
Yes, sometimes the MAGDLR detects the SD card or not, this may be why the Rom's do not have WP7 use
If someone is interested in writing a new/modified bootloader for WP7 one should do it in such a way that Zune believes the HD2 is actually truly a HD7. This would make it a lot easier for everyone to install updates like Mango and NoDo.
Perhaps more importantly, it also allows one to backup the phone's content with the updatewp.exe trick (making zune "install" an update to the phone so it makes a backup before that and killing the update process before it starts updating).

bad idea that,
if you make the HD2 look like an HD7 to allow updates you run the very real risk of MS updating a driver or two that may screw your device, the HD2 and 7 are very similar but they do contain hardware differences and thats why we have several issues. I dont think its anything to do with magldr, the random restarts and wifi issues are a symptom of SD card issues WITHIN windows,

Ok so this magic bootloader with turn all your hardware into HD7 hardware and magically wave a super duper wand and allow you to use M$ update to install software/drivers for the HD7 on your HD2?
Are you on LSD?
How do you expect to be to install official updates meant for the HD7 if your hardware is a HD2?
Custom roms are CHANGED so they work on your hardware, DFT didnt just bung the official HD7 rom on the phone say a magic word and have WP7 running on the HD2
Please go back to sleep.
PS. Oh btw, last time I checked Zune DOES see the HD2 as the HD7, aslong as you install the reg tweak or use a rom that has it already in.
i never say i want a super HD2 with WP7 uncid or MS fake super mango and free apss for always.
Simple a other bootloader with can use when a sdcard fait with magldr

i get what you mean but i have several SD cards that are not compatible with WP7 and they all work with magldr, perhaps im wrong but i just dont think that is the issue, magldr IS a big problem with battery charging and it messes up the date and time too but i dont think ive seen anything that says the SD issues are to do with MAGLDR, there is an alternative bootloader addon for android, but WP isnt supported, it does however fix the battery charging though
dAV84 I think you just have a non-compatible sd card. I had a lot of issues with my 2GB SanDisk in WP7. It was running, but it was rebooting sometimes and wp7 didn't see sd card then.
Changing sd card helped.
Behind open this topic, i read all topic about SDCARDS problems with WP7.
The problem with bandwitch and type of class
So, i tested differents version of W7 Rom's.
With 5 differents SDCARDS
And change with magldr 1.12 and 1.13,
i have 3 card no visible in magldr one time and after it's run, but's bloqued in wp7
TO 2x2GB no name class 2, 8gb kistong class 6, scandisk, 16G class 4
SO,for 1 of no name, and kistong, not view in magldr (can't change partition in service mode) but's when i insert in a WP6.5 i have view
I use the SDFormater, and the easeus to change partition to FAT.
I'm understand the problem, perhaps provides from WP7, but's not total sure for me.
People say that the most common sd card's classes that work with wp7 are 2 and 4.
I don't know what class are mine cards, both are 2GB though. SanDisk was quite a lot faster (changing apps, settings, using ui in general), but wasn't fully compatible (reboots etc) and Kingston is working fine, but slower.
I used SDFormatter as well. You don't have to change anything with Easeus unless you aim at dual-boot with SD Android. Just use SDFormatter and go on with WP7 setup.

I know they're changed in order to work, but afaik MSonly updates the new bits don't they? Because if they are it would work with things like the cert updates from april/early may.
Ofcourse if with an update the entire device is reflashed this wouldn't work. However it would still be likely that the zune backup system could work, which would help when trying new roms.
Sent from my Schubert using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
it wouldnt matter what kind of update MS did, if you were able to update via zune and device drivers changed it would screw the device.
who knows what might get changed, radio, SPL, drivers anything could, any one of those could mess things up, that could just mean a simple reflash but if the Radio/SPL was messed with then its possible it could give you a really bad day
That's why I go with reverse engineering the Zune. Its a thread that is started by me yet no one has yet to comment on. It would be nice if we can takeover something like it and make it exclusive to HD2 updating! If there was a way we can extract M$ updates and take a look what is in it and take out stuff that is not necessary, take out stuff that can be dangerous to our phone, put in updates that is for HD2, and then repackage it to Zune (Hacked or Spoofed) for end user updating. It will be effortless for end users but I bet it will be a challenge to the coders.

Im not a software engineer but im guessing saying, let go with reverse engineering zune, is kinda like saying, yeah course, we'll just fly to Mars
Hi, I am quite new to the HD2, so I have a question that might sound dumb to the more experienced people reading this.
Is it possible to Dualboot WP7 and Android ? But it is not that simple, I want my phone to boot into android unless I choose WP7 instead, I currently have Android ICS on my nand so what I need is something like the SD method used to dualboot WM6.5 and Android, but the other way around and with WP7 instead of WM6.5
Thanks.
Seems like even if I wanted to singleboot WP7, I cannot, because I cannot even get a rom, all the links are broken, If any on you have a WP7.8 with all the good stuff and tweeks I probably want, please link it.
Hi Traysa, you can only boot wp7 from nand using magldr. magldr lets you choose which OS autostarts in bootsettings. So you would need to partition your sdcard and use an SD android build, or better, a NativeSd ROM.
Shame the links are down, have you checked the last few pages of the threads for re-upped links? What wp7 takes your fancy? I might have it on HDD.
Off to sleep now, night night.
Oh, and you will need an activation code for wp7, don't think Microsoft give them out now as wp7 is unsupported.
Yes, I did look for reups for about an hour, found none, I would like a WP7 rom that has lots of preinstalled apps, because WP7 is no longer supported and getting them might not be very easy. dont really care if its Mango or WP7.8, I just want it to work. And about the WP7 activation key, how would I go about getting one ?
Thanks
edit: Forgot to add, I dont want to install wm6.5, i want to go straight from android to WP7, if at all possible.
The one you say you have ( WP7.8 pdaimatejam v8.8) should work, please mail it, or link it if you still have it.
Oh and pdaimatejam put this code out, it supposedly should work TP4CF-GK479-Q9Q4Q-WPYRP-7YR4D
heres another : CRFV7-X32H9-7QF2Y-CG239-V62YR
Off to work, will look later
After a **** ton of digging, I found a Hd2O ROM from a Dutch website, will try it.
No need for the rom anymore, the rom I found is working great, is it still possible to use the market ? When I try to make an account, it gives me a connection error, what do I do about that ? Also, I didn't use the key like you said, it never asked me to use a key.
Turns out I actually need a code, the two I found dont work. How do I get one ?
Okay, so WP7 is working perfectly, but I want Android too, how do I do that ?
I like either something cool like FroYo, I need an SD rom right ? Heres one,but the link is down ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870518 ) I already have a few things on my wp7 installation, so I do NOT want to delete it all, so I will probably need to back it up, but 1. Will it work if I partition the SD card 2. will it even work with zune down ? If you have this rom, please post it

Hi again Traysa, sorry been really busy in RL lately and haven't had a chance to get on xda. How are you getting on?
I posted a working link at the end of the thread you quoted for the Froyo build, but it would still be too big to install on sdcard without re-partitioning. I am pretty sure that you would lose your stuff if you repartitioned.
But see this post https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41706158 for a way to boot android without repartitioning, it is also superRAM as the original froyo build, and works well as long as you have only a few apps.
Thank you, but I cannot get the ROM, because it was uploaded on DevHost, which I guess does not work any longer, if you still have the rom, would you put it on mediafire or send it as an attachment ? It is kinda sad, that so many HD2 ROMs got lost this way. I am also really surprised that you were able to get android on such a tiny amount of space.
Best regards
Traysa

https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=818070582850507392
unzip it, put the cm7 folder in the fat16 partition using a card reader
download either the 48 or 64mb data image
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=746010030569968509
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673956719939834348
unzip it and place the data.ext4 file next to the system.ext4 file in cm7 folder on your sdcard
follow the instructions in the above thread to boot from magldr
report back please and good luck
Hi, this build is soo close to booting, but when I go to Ad SD and launch it, Portadroid starts porting is and then it reboots, any ideas ?
I also have an unrelated question, I recently started experimenting with the CM13 build for the HD2, but I cannot figure out, how to get files onit, when I plug it in, it shows that its an MP3 Player and I cannot put any files on it, when I put the SD card in my PC directly,I quickly figure out that Windows is not Linux and does not understand EXT4. Because the browser/the play store does not work, I cannot put any apps on it, so that its usable, I wanna put a veeeery lightweight web browser on it and aptoide, it that works.
PS : Thank you for helping me, it always makes my day !
EDIT : I figured the file transfer out, I had to switch to PTP in settings instead of MTP.
