Voodoo sound? - Fascinate General

So supercurio has a new bit of kernel magic:
https://github.com/project-voodoo/sound_kernel_patches
(See sound thread in i9000 dev forum for explanation)
Is anyone working on incorporating this into a Fascinate kernel?
Swyped from my Voodoo-powered Fascinate via XDA

It wasn't out last when I checked, I'll add the patch into my kernel's then if possible. Thanks for letting me know about this too

I was wondering when the 2.6.32 desire kernal will be in any ROM's? I'm trying to work on it now but having trouble in Ubuntu. Anyone got any ideas?

Direct from HTC, http://developer.htc.com/ ? Problem is, the real "Desire" isn't very similar to the Eris other than the old codename that HTC gave the Eris model, "Desirec".
More from Google, including a lot here at XDA.
Would it be from this post? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696846

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the advantage of this newer kernel? Do we even need it now that we have everything on our devices working on the .29 kernel?
Some think it's best (or reqd) to have the latest.
Sent from my CyanogenTazz Froyo using XDA App
We don't "need" it but it will be more streamlined to work with froyo. Instead of having a million work arounds to get something like facebook syncing to work things will work by default. I've said it forever, the biggest thing for our phones is updating kernels.

glad to see you are back, and I agree that the tone in the thread was lighter than most. you and DG would make a killer duo, but alas it is not meant to be? I will keep rocking axura until official release then maybe you'll create axura from the official release??? <hope>
I have to say I love RC 1. Came over from cog/perception and the latest perception builds aren't stables on my phone, so I will be on axura until something better comes along.

can i just put that zimage into a .tar and ODIN flash it as PDA?
Also on this rom with sentirons 1200mhz kernel. Was wondering if someone could tell me how to turn backlight buttons off until pressed ie touchscreen usage doesn't trigger button lights, only touch of button triggers button lights.. If that makes sense?

So could I say take a zimage from say setiron's kernel and place it into a i9000 rom? Then just flash that zip file one time and have my i9000 rom with Cappy kernel all in one flash? I already know how to swap out modem.bin files just need to know about the kernels.

[Q] Help me understand Kernels...

Please excuse my noobieness, but could someone explain to me what exactly kernels are pertaining to roms? The reason why I ask is because I have the Fascinate with EB01 with Voodoo. I want to use Superio's voodoo sound tweaks, and I know that it isn't currently possible without the Froyonate's source code. Is it possible to use the Galaxy S's voodoo froyo kernel for the Fascinate? If so, what can I do to make it happen? Thanks in advance...

For general information about what the linux kernel is/does do some google searches. The kernels across different galaxy S devices are NOT interchangeable. We currently do not have source for froyo on the fascinate. Due to the nature of how the modifications work, voodoo lagfix was added to the kernel without needing to recompile form source, however voodoo sound fixes must be applied to source, rather than an already compiled kernel. Samsung will not release the source until at the very least, an official froyo is released. I suspect you might get some angry replies for posting this question. This is essentially because unless you're a competent linux hacker, the only thing you can do is wait patiently, even once the source is released.
This belongs in general. You should really use the search function.

Ok, I think that thr kernel is the core of the android operating system, where the drivers for the different hardware of your phone resides and the rom is the actual operating system, the kernel must be compatible to your phone otherwise it will not work. Many roms that you see posted here include kernels, the ones that dont you have to be carefull because if you have for example a non vodoo kernel and install a vodoo rom you will have serious problems, im no expert but maybe somebody more knowledgeable can correct me
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Voodoo is part of the kernel, not the rom. If you see a rom that is advertised as a Voodoo rom, it's because it comes with a Voodoo kernel. Installing a Voodoo rom and/or kernel won't cause any harm, but if you have the Voodoo lag fix installed and flash a non-Voodoo kernel, or a rom that contains a non-Voodoo kernel, you will get to learn how to use Odin very quickly. It's always a good idea to learn whether or not the rom you are flashing contains a kernel or not, just so that you don't get surprised by something after the fact.

Since some of you have bad luck with OC kernels, I decided to build a non-OC kernel but still with a few features..such as UV support (no OC), Voodoo Lagfix and Sound..etc..
Think of this kernel as SP-Voodoo for 2.3.4
This Kernel is an i9000 sourced 2.3.4 kernel for I9000 Gingerbread JVP
This kernel is built off of Xcals Reorient v2.0 and is only tested on JVP!
As always, flash at your own risk, im not responsible for any damages!
Get support at #suckerpunch
Latest sources can be found on Github
Remember, I cant fix stupid or lazy. Please read the whole OP and the first and last 5 pages of this thead!
Custom Boot Animations
The bootanimation.zip needs to be /system/media/sanim.zip <- notice the name change
To install:
Flash .tar with Odin/Heimdall
If using Odin place tar in PDA slot
Enable/Disable Voodoo Lagfix in CWM->Voodoo
Delete Voltage Control settings in CWM->Advanced
Kernel Features
Voodoo Lagfix
Voodoo Sound v9
339MB RAM
BLN support
Uses Gamma 2.2
Speedmod Color Fix

NOTE
This kernel will remain closer to Samsung source and not as extreme as Talon.. This is for those of you who want a semi-modded stock kernel.

Lol..yea i might stick with that name..not sure yet. I didnt want it to come off the wrong way, it was not directed towards anyone but me.. I simply cherry-picked things from what we had already done with Talon, but i might end up using it.. Use ODIN - no reboot - clear dalvik, etc to avoid issues
seems to work great.. no BT problems or wifi issues as yet with 5.6

188 views and no reply coz people are getting misguided by your subject. They are thinking that u have done some developement.
You need to recompile the stock kernel with the voodoo files, this is dev section, and this thread belongs to general
I think the voodoo control plus app patches the kernel automatically, doesn't it?
I don't know, cuz I've never played with the stock firmware, I flashed my G3 almost half an hour after i took it off the box!

Voodoo plus app does load a kernel module that is compiled for sgs, so it wont run on sg3

I suggest looking at the GIT repos for G3MOD or Fugumod to find how it was done originally. Hopefully when we get a chance we will develop the kernel development thread more.
Also what do you mean by 'getting more lag in OC kernels'? If you have a problem with them then shouldn't you make the developers aware of the situations so they can fix it?

Which kernel, and what settings? You might have had a kernel with an overclock too hgih for your phone to handle. Not every phone can handle the overclocks set up in the kernels. You sometimes need to dial it back a bit.
