I, Myself Can't, Answer That
But There's Already A Facebook Chat App Available!
I'm Thinking You Could Maybe Download It, And extract The Files
To See The Format They Used!
Just A Suggestion??

Thank you for your reply.
I have tryed some apps (and this one too) but my frends name's aren't the same in my contacts....Just i want to choose (not the app) wich contact with what pictures to be;-)
I'm pretty sure that SyncMyPix has the option to manually link Facebook contacts with Google contacts. Long press on an unlinked Facebook contact.

Is there anyway to stop chat auto signing in, I find it a pain when I go to check Facebook but don't want to chat. People start chatting or send me messages when I am to busy to chat.

I went back to 1.4.0 because of this.

Just go to the chat section of Facebook for Android, tap Menu, then tap Go Offline and it'll stay that way until you enter the chat section again
Am I then offline at the pc also? So stores facebook that I am offline our only the phone?

THANK YOU,will try this. Hopefully it works
I find it easier to use friendstream. I rarely use the fb app so that removes the chat problem

go to settings, apps, then clear data and cache from facebook app, then download the latest facebook from market, sign in (HERE IS IMPORTANT NEVER CLICK ON THE CHAT TAB) then go to market, download facebook messenger (the official one) and log in the facebook messenger.. thats it...
when you want to be offline, just log out from the facebook messenger app with one click, and if you want to chat just log in in the facebook messenger app with just one tap, also facebook messenger app its better because you can have group chats, and send photos through it
hope this helps you
or just delete the app and use the new HTML5 mobile web interface which is great (it's like the iphone app).
Also do not forget to close all the fb session from the desktop web interface.

Same here! It's a lot better and quicker I find.
Also, I found that when I did use the App to chat it closed the the window on the PC. Don't know whether this is a new feature.
If they just updated it to make it like the HTML5 page it would be a lot better.

New standalone messenger from Facebook. It's the old 'Beluga' app, redone nicely. Caveat for me though. Galaxy S2 with KG5. It won't let me install it.

Nice, APK worked perfectly on my Inspire 4G!!
I'm a bit confused as to why they didn't integrate this with the main app. The main app has chat builtin too but it's a bit cumbersome to use. And god knows why it's incompatible with out phones.
Does it have group chat? And my problem with the app is that chat and messages are separate even though they are integrated in the site itself
thanks for the apk dude!
Many thanks why isn't this on the market?
My bad it is on the market, when i saw you guys requesting apk, i assumed it wasn't on market. Nice find, been looking for this for a while, the ability to send a message from my phone didn't think it was possible, i guess I never looked hard enough.
For those who dont have this install MarketEnabler and set it to US, then download it from the Market.
This one works for the Chat portion which is iffy on the official App. I dont get why they dont just integrate it like on the site though

It has Group Messaging. Which is the same but from a Messaging instead of Chat perspective. This is a Messaging not Chat app.
How the main Facebook app doesn't merge Messages/Chat is really annoying. This is how it used to be on Facebook.com, it must be at least a year ago but they've never bothered to update the app. I get Message notifications for people trying to Chat but as the app doesn't understand the merge, they never come through.
It's miles better than the Message section in the main app and properly supports Facebook Messages/Chat threading, whereby both appear in Messages.
I've turned off Message notifications in the main app. There's no point getting two notifications for each message.
p.s - Some messages are missing. I open a friend and some of the messages that appear on Facebook.com aren't there in the app.

Working for me, thanks a lot!
is just your facebook inbox with the added group message...
no chat or anything..
works when you have the massage notification and dont want to visit the mobile site all the time..
maybe they release this app because the message section on the regular facebook app is not working properly..

I imagine so but why not integrate it? The one in the main app is broke and this should replace it. It's pretty slick.
Hi guys!
I would create an Android app where the users can login with Facebook or Twitter(no problem with this) and then they can post something to give everyone that is his friends or followers, to LIKE or FAVORITE what they wrote.
The app should be like this, approximately:
1)LOGIN (with Facebook or Twitter)
2)Show all the POSTS of the others friends that has the app with LIKES NUMBERS next to each post.
3)Text form where they can write and publish their own posts.
Everyone that login can just put ONE like and being able to see how many likes are stored in that exact time.
The important thing is that the posts and the likes must not be shown in Facebook Diary or Twitter Account to everyone, but just to the users of my app.
I could say I want to create a little private social network with just posts (with likes and comments).
I don't know how to store all the posts and the likes "live"...
What I know for sure is that I have to create a web service that must communicate with my Android app first. But I don't know how to do it.
Anyone can help me? Any links or tutorial would be great!
First answer me why would facebook or twitter let you create a private mini social network inside thier platform ?
for facebook i can say for sure it is not possible !
twitter will be no different but no harm checking

Mostly I would to use Facebook or Twitter for make the login more easier, without forcing the users to type all his informations..
Actually it would be no problem for me sign up new users! I would just need a new database, that I can link to my Android app via web service.
But my issue is to store the posts of every users with the numbers likes to that post, I thought that with Facebook it would've been more simply to do.
It should like this, after the login:
POST SOMETHING button
USER A: Hi, have a wonderful day to everyone!
3 likes. 4 comments
LIKE button COMMENT button
*list of comments*
USER B: Hello!
1 likes. 2 comments
LIKE button COMMENT button
*list of comments*
and go on...
So, as you can see, it must show all the post of all the users with the number of the likes and comments.
I don't know how to store and show them updated in real-time.

So Facebook uses Apache Hadoop, but I think it's too "big" for what I need for. Are there some alternatives?

SQL or probably nosql if you plan for expansion in near future
for SQL you can have a table with a column time
TIME
POST ** contents of post
LIKES **list of users who liked this post
similary for COMMENTS and stuff

So great, I can save everything in a external database and then transfer the datas with JSON to Android. I will start with SQL first, (I have no idea where to start with nosql).
But the problem now is: how can I keep the posts updated in real time on Android app?

you can use the GCM
google cloud messag**** dont know exactly
it can send push notifications to your app so that it can sync with server to fetch data
Edit
Its Google Cloud Messaging

So basically you suggest me to: create a database SQL with the table of the posts, then use GCM for display all the datas on the app via web service (php), right?
If you need a server to handle GCM, have a look at Google app engine: https://developers.google.com/appengine/docs/whatisgoogleappengine
If it's not about hundreds of thousands of users, the free plans should be enough for what you want to do.
Thank you! I will give a look at that ;D

How to send messages on Facebook without installing the messenger app in Android
Facebook, recently decided to undertake this fairly unpopular practice – while the former decoupled the check-in feature to a whole new app, called Swarm, the latter decided that its users shouldn't be able to chat from the main Facebook app anymore, but make use of the chat head-wielding Messenger instead. The latter has been allegedly gaining market share in favor of its messenger rivals, but isn't forcing it to users the main reason behind this?

Well, forced things are never highly looked upon and quite a lot of users have expressed their utter displeasure with Facebook for taking the messages away from the main app. If you're one of the distressed Facebook users, rejoice, as a workaround exists that will allow not Messenger, but your main Facebook app to handle your messages. Of course, you can always go to the mobile version of Facebook and access your messages from there, but a lot of users probably prefer to delve into one of the most popular social networks through the dedicated app.

We'll show you the ropes on how to do this, but you should have in mind that this method only works for some users. Facebook will surely find another way to force Messenger upon them in the foreseeable future, but for the time being, at least some of the users of the social network get to do things their way.
So here it goes with the method 1.)
A quick guide for those who want to use Facebook messages without downloading facebook messenger.
Step 1
Uninstall Facebook messenger (if you have it installed)
Step 2
Make sure you have Unknown sources enabled from device settings
Step 3
Install the attached apk (hello world application) or create a new (empty) android project with the package name com.facebook.orca
As long as the only validation that the facebook app does is checking to find if an app with package name com.facebook.orca is installed on the phone this should work
Thanks to @nemoc 23 For his guide
I'll attach the Messenger.apk in the attachment too.you can download from there too
Method 2.) [For Non-Rooted Device]
Make sure you have Facebook official app already installed in your smartphone (no need to root), and if the Facebook app is not allowing you to chat with your friends, then try to download the Facebook messenger initially from Google play store, here is the tricky part, before completing the download (100%) cancel the downloading of Facebook messenger (make sure it’s not installing) and yeah, you are ready to use the official Facebook app again to chat with your friends, give a try and tell us if it’s working for you or not!
Method 3).[For rooted device]
STEP 1: Download the official Facebook Messenger App from Play Store.
STEP 2: Download “TITANIUM BACKUP” or “DISABLE APPLICATION” App from Play Store
STEP 3: Open Titanium Backup and give it ROOT privileges. Scroll down to Messenger App
STEP 4: Select the Messenger App which will result in a dialog box to open up. Hit the “FREEZE” button which will freeze the application eventually.
STEP 5: Once the app is freezed it will be highlighted in blue tint color.
STEP 6: Now open the Facebook App and go to the Messages section of it.
STEP 7: Choose the person you want to chat with and you are good to go!
Enjoy the freedom until it lasts! Feel free to let us know if there are any other method and we will update this post with those methods too!
Smart one. Thanks. Regards, Zagor
