Voodoo app - sound enhancement - Vibrant General

http://www.appbrain.com/app/voodoo-app/org.projectvoodoo.app
There is this new app in the market called "voodoo app" it is for the samsung I9000. Has anybody got it to function in the vibrant?
I think it is a cool app for sound enhancement.

it needs the sound kernel for it to work.

Moved of: Samsung Vibrant > Vibrant Android Development
To: Samsung Vibrant > Vibrant General

See my dragon kernel in dev. I will be tracking updates and working with supercurio on it. V1 works great now. All we can really do right now is boost the amp volume, but more is on the way. And even with the boost, the sound is very clean. No noticeable distortion.

Post your best voodoo sound examples!

This might be fun...
I was pretty skeptical of what voodoo sound could do at first, but now that I have it, I am definitely convinced of the advantages provided by this little mod.
Individual instruments ring through, the mids and lows are given a lot of depth, and the highs have excellent fidelity with out being overbearing. This is by far one of the best additions to my phone.
Sooo...I was thinking we could all link what we feel best exemplifies the improvement in sound quality given to us by voodoo. That piece you can't help but play over and over again because it sounds so good now. I'll start us off
http://db.tt/eyxqOe5
(It's ska, which I think is one of the best audio tests, given the large range of sounds in any given song; and it happens to be my passion lol )
Let's keep it to one per user. And I would say don't directly attach anything, because I'm not sure if I'll get in trouble lol.
Maybe when it's all said and done we'll have a cool little xda-epic4g soundtrack. Think of it as a sociology experiment

Whoa I thought this only existed on the vibrants... or something. Please tell me how to get it!!!

Whats voodoo? Software?
I keep reading about Voodoo profiles but all I can change is the volume. What am I missing?
I am not really sure how to use this either, I tried to look it up but a thread with over 100 pages is hard to find stuff, lol.
make sure you keep it legal...
Voodoo is an addon by http://twitter.com/supercurio , I'm under the impression its a set of kernel enhancements along with config/control apps you can install from market (or include in ROM). "Voodoo" is kind of his brand name. He's spent quite a bit of time improving sound qualities, but he's also messed with screen color accuracy and camera picture quality.
As for how to get it - I saw its in the most recent ACS ROM/twilight kernel. Haven't tried it, though I'm excited too.
Latest Viper ROM has voodoo baked in. FYI

I have it in my rom. (srf frozen 1.0.2) but don't know how to use it.tried looking it up, but too much to sift through. If anyone knows a good setting to put it on, please let me know..( I don't use head phones so I'm not sure if that is all it adjusts or not)
Thanks

1. How do you use it?
2. Does it only kick in when headphones are used or does the external speaker quality benefit as well?

headphones are nothing but external speakers, so yes any audio out will benefit...
there's a voodoo control app that comes with syndicate (which is what im running right now)...there are a few options in there that can be turned off (as well as a bunch of options you can enable to provide better recording quality)...but from my understanding, there are improvements that voodoo gives you that may not have an actual "option" to enable/disable. im not so sure though, as the details given in the voodoo thread are a little inconsistent with what we can see in the voodoo control app (such as the parametric equalizer)...
my guess is that the port of voodoo (which is for the international galaxy s) to the epic is still somewhat of a WIP...
all that being said, the best way to hear improvements would be to have an epic with out voodoo and one with voodoo, and hear them side by side...or another version of the galaxy s since they all probably have the same stock audio filters...
since i dont have two phones, i played the same song before and after I flashed syndicate. call it selective perception if you want, but i definitely hear an improvement.
Yeah, I'm running acs 1.0.3, I just haven't updated my signature. I just don't see any other playback options other than being able to adjust the headset volume option.

Gingerbread Voodoo Control App

I noticed there is a new voodoo control app for gingerbread, I found out after getting a Nexus S, still deciding to either keep it or keep vibrant but I also noticed that this new app allows adjusting of the screen colors. On the nexus S forum someone was nice enough to make a thread with what he thought was the best settings. i would like to know if Our Vibrant forum has anything like this? Looking at the difference between the nexus S and vibrant I noticed the greys on my vibrant are not as accurate as my nexus. Please help I want to keep my Vibrant but the nexus is taking me away.
Well, supercurio, the Guy who wrote voodoo lagfix voodoo sound, and voodoo color (what you're describing), has only implemented voodoo color on the nexus s.
Currently, that type of voodoo color isn't supported on stock Samsung roms on the galaxy s line. As for when it will be, you'll have to take that up with supercurio himself.

Yea but Im running CM7 on both phones except the nexus has a modded version of cm7 available which I like alot. But the screen just seems a little better on the nexus. Its killing me. Also I was able to download the new voodoo control app with color controls on my vibrant running cm7 as well as my bros vibrant running trigger or bionix I forget. either way its controllable but I just need good settings to make the screen better.
I have found some really good settings for the vibrant hopefully someone can help make it better? Here you go and let me know if this is an improvement

green 32109
blue 42949

Sound improvement

Hi all,
I don't know if this has already been discussed, but I just had to share it in case it hasn't (I'm sure that at least it will be useful for the guys new to android - like me).
In the sound settings category, there is a section called media audio effects where u'll find an equalizer and some other enhancements ... this combined with a good player will make the atrix's sound rock... literally. I'm an ex iphone 4 user and I was dissatisfied with the sound before this, but now I'm really impressed with the power of the bass coming out of those little earphones!

Yeah.. One of the first settings I adjusted. I listen to music on my phone everyday.. Works great with Winamp

'.. release #GalaxySIII specific pre-versions of #VoodooSound and #DisplayExpert because.. it's must have already for me '
Yeah saw that too. Great news indeed

What is displayexpert? I tried to google it.
I guess it will allow adjustments to the settings of the screen. Saturation, temperature, and sharpening.
Oh man, can't wait to see what supercurio is bringing to the SGS3... He did wonders for the SGS.
will it be for rooted devices only ? dont want to root my GS3 yet ive only have it 2 days
will rooting void the warranty with samsung ?
Only with root
I hope this also comes for the US GS3 !
Can't wait

It'll probably fix some banding issues with the ICS default background.
I still have my original i9000 mostly because of the amazing sound quality I get with Voodoo sound and the Samsung earphones. The Siyah 1.2.1 mods on Omega 5.1 on my i9300 kernel runs it very close. Really eager to see what SuperC can do with the new device!

I agree completely.. I'm really just glad to be back on Samsung period. I've been on HTC and the unlocking, s-off, adb is more of pain the just running Odin or flashing.

Tell me about it - try using Motorola devices. Or better yet, dont. Being back on an open hardware platform with real developer support is amazing.

Personally really looking forward to see Voodoo Sound implemented on the SGS3 to take full advantage of the Wolfson
Always nice to have a high end phone that has excellent sound quality too!
Can't wait for this
Voodoo sound booster is obsolete, there's a mod avalible already which boosts the sound the same way voodoo did..
Its awesome ! If I wasn't writing this on my phone I'd find you guys a link..
Boost audio system wide, alarm gave me a bloody fright this morning..
EDIT: Decided ill be nice and find the link hehe..
OP Topic: HERE
CWM Flashable packes: HERE
I suggest using the "60_sound_mod - max vol = 60 (boot sound on, camera sound off)" CWM package, it boosts your phone dramatically although not to max.. The safer option if you ask me..
Anyway thats my good deed done for today.. better get back to work !

Thanks for the link, I will check it out.
However Voodoo Sound is not just about boosting volume. I had it on my SGS1, and it greatly improved the overall sound quality as well. I cant really explain it as I am by no means an audiophile, however all I know is that Voodoo Sound left me with a smile on my face whilst listening to music.

I used voodo on SGSII and that just boosted volume, in saying that it actually boosted it with no sound quality loss.. Not like volume+.
That mod does exactly what vodoo did on the SGSII im very impressed by this mod, the fact that it boosts over all sound on the phone is great.
