just a question once unlocked hd2 with stock rom. - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

ok so i have an htc hd 2, i decided that i wanted andriod and went with nand blue topia non hd, so i followed all the steps everything is working perfectly.
my question is back when i was running windows 6.5 when i first got my phone i called and got the unlock code because sometimes you never now and figured it would be nice to have. so with stock tmobile rom my phone was unlocked and i could use a att sim card to freak people out.
now that i have placed nand andriod i attempted the same trick to use a att sim card to help someone out to use my phone and it didnt like it. im curious with using nand did that completly remove everything including my unlock code to my phone if so how would i go about doing that again.
sorry for the long post figured id try and be as detailed as possible

[Q] Urgent help needed please

Hi, I need some help from you guys, I'm a noob in these things, anyway I was on Windows mobile 6.5 (Not a T-mobile) , and thought about changing into an android. I found some tutorials on youtube, and tryied to do It exactly as It said. Ok, so I found this video on youtube with a link on It, I clicked It, which directed me to one website. I installed the Hard HSPL folowing the instructions, then It said to install a Windows Mobile ROM, I downloaded and installed "Chucky Droid Rom" and now my phone Is like in between the Windows and Android, some kind of weird screen like theres no OS on it. Then it says to download and put Android Rom into my SD card, after downloading "FroyoStone_Sense_V2", I also deleted everything from the SD card except the Android directory. After i push CLRCAD, I start "haret", but it just shows me very little text on top of the screen, which fades away in like 5 seconds. After that i get "Sleep of Death" the screen just keeps black, unless i restart my phone. I tryied to wait for like 40minutes hoping it will start somehow, but the situation didn't change... So can somebody please help me? How do i boot my phone to android, what should I do to get that penguin with a lot of flashing text on my phone instead of this "Sleep of Death" What am I doing wrong? Thanks for answer guys.
What is your intention with running Android, do you just want to experiment with it and use it as a dual boot, ie still have winmo and then boot to Android, or would you like to replace winmo with Android? If the first option, then you will need to flash a full winmo rom as AFAIK ChuckyDroid is an extremely light rom that basically just allows you to boot to an Android rom.
If your intention is to only run Android then you should be looking at the NAND Android roms as this replaces winmo totally and the phone boots straight to Android. If you would like to do this, then follow the link in my signature on Flashing NAND roms, it is a very good tutorial and gives you step by step instructions on what to do.
Does it work on European HD2? Because i think i have the problem, because my HD2 is not a T-mobile and i did everything as it said step by step, which would give directions for a T-mobile. I think thats the issue to the problem...

The process is practically the same the only difference is that with NAND TMOUS get more storage then EU HD2, unless you have EXT partition on SD card. Anyway what radio are you currently running this could be why android wont run off SD card.

Thanks for the help guys, after I installed the correct radio it works perfectly.

Going back to windows mobile 6.5 from Android- SIMPLE

Hello,
Heres the story:
I sold today my htc hd2 and someone came by to my house to get it and pay. Now i got a message that he cant get used to android. Now I need info for a simple instalation of windows mobile on the htc hd2. Like Getting a windows mobile RUU.exe and simple install it with 1 setup. The phone has hyperdroid, magdlr 1.13, cwm 1.3
I need your answer fast.
David
You can just download the official rom and flash it over usb, it will overwrite everything, HSPL, radio, splash screen, everything back to stock. Or you could do the same with most other wm6.5 roms, but if you're giving it to someone not comfortable with it and you don't want to be their phone support guy for the next however long, I would give them the phone stock, or link them to the proper official rom.
If you have a US T-Mobile HD2 (1024): http://support.t-mobile.com/doc/tm54430.xml?
If you have an HTC HD2 (512): http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownloadList.aspx?p_id=297&act=sd&cat=2
The above instructions are correct, but did not mention that if you have flashed HSPL and MAGLDR that you will need to flash the stock ROM from an SD card that is under 2Gig in size. Just copy the original ROM file to the card, enter bootloader mode and go from there.
One thing, though - if the person who bought your phone can't get used to Android, he's in bigger trouble than he thinks. I mean, what the hell did he think he was buying? Is it that he can't get used to a PDA phone, a touch screen or does he prefer communicating by carrier pigeon? Rhetorical questions, I know, but geez... what the F did the guy think he was getting, and why is it now your problem?
I'm no expert, but I thought I remembered hearing something about how you weren't supposed to flash the original rom from sd, because it somehow makes it so you can't reflash hspl later if you change your mind.
Not 100% on that by any means.
I know this may involve an extra step, but to avoid usage of SD flashing, you can flash a custom HD2 WM6.xx ROM. Then flash the stock ROM..

That may have been the case in the early stages of HSPL development. If you flashed the wrong rom and got stuck on an spl that was not supported by the HSPL versions out then that was so. This is no longer the case now with all spl versions being able to be HSPL'd.
I gave him an link to an official RUU wm 6.5 NL rom. It's an exe file. I told him he haves to run this exe file in android and if that doesnt work he haves to go to boot menu (holding volume down) and if that's doesn't work he haves to try out the usb flasher option in magdlr. I also gave him the link to this forum post.
here is a simplier way to explain it. i use it sometimes if i forget how to do it...

Hi, New to HD2 but not to flashing ROMs ( Mogul, polaris, TyTN 2) got a second hand TMobile USA yesterday. Came with a nand Android 2.2 install, Magldr v 1.11 and spl 2.08 hspl. I intend to flash back to the stock rom ( latest version T-Mobile HD2 MR Software (Version 3.14.531.1 ) so I can dual boot with an sd android install. I also intend to check out some of the custom 6.5 builds along the way.
Have installed HTC sync for Android and and all appears to be good. I can also get a usb connection while in bootloader.
I'm assuming its as simple as the 2nd post but I don't want to brick my new phone on my first day . Would somebody please confirm that I'm not making any obvious mistakes? I gather I will then need will need to flash a new HSPL, which version is recommended for my purposes?
I apologize in advance for asking such a simple question but the HD2 forums are new to me and much larger than those for any of my old phones. I have been reading for most of the past week and think I know what I'm doing but I might be completely wrong.
EDIT
Is anybody out there?
I know that posting in "[GUIDE] Flashing Your First HD2 NAND Android Rom [For Newbs]" would be more appropriate but I can't seem to post in it as I just get a bulletin message saying I don't have permission. This is the closest thread I can find for my question.
Many Thanks in anticipation of a reply
Oh well. No replies. looks like I will just have to give it a go. Will play with some other Nand android builds first and upgrade MAGLDR to 1.13. Will also experiment with different radios to see if I can improve battery life as it is shocking (loses nearly 30% in 7 hours while 'asleep").
BTW I think my current radio is 2.08.50.08 (settings/software information/baseband version - second half of string). Happy to stand corrected if this is not where you find the radio version in android - as I said before I'm new to this OS.
In case anyone is wondering. The reason for multiple posts in a dead thread is to reach the number required to post on the more appropriate development thread.
Hope that does not upset anyone. I do promise to come back to this thread and post how I got on. ie successes, failures, tips etc.

Anyone install XBmod-Yuki ROM on locked device??

reason i ask is that i have installed XBmod's nodo rom on my hd2 which is locked to Tmobile..so i dont know if i should try it?
has anyone else tried this ROM on their locked devices?
i obviously got HSPL on it,so if anything went wrong will i be able to recover my phone or is it possible it can be bricked?
im just after some advice -before i proceed
many thanks
i have installed this wonderful ROM to my locked TMOUS HD2 and it works beautifully. no problems whatsoever. Go for it!
thanks man
If I try what's the worst possible outcome if it don't work? And is it recoverable?
XBmod
ive installed it 3 times and olny prob ive had is camera - red is orange lol
apart from that its pretty flawless long as you have SPL on shpould have no probs if anything goes wrong but doubt it will long as you follow the instructions correctly
Thanks micktodd..
Noobie here. Yes it installs beutifully to my T-Mo HD2, however I can't get it to update past 7661 with my original 16gb t-Mo SD card. Without the card in it'll update to 7403, so I'm kinda puzzled. I guess I need to keep reading and searching
Thanks...u updating thru Zune?

SIM network unlock PIN for htc hd2 with android 2.3.4 T-Mobile

hello. I bought unlocked HTC HD2 T-mobile.
But I put android 2.3.4 typhoon_cm7_v3.4.0-MAGLDR.zip and now when i put my non t-mobile sim card it asks me for SIM network unlock PIN, can you help me
you need to flash back to winmo in order to enter the sim unlock code. You CAN enter it into android, but it wont work, only winmo has the ability to write the required data to sim unlock it.
can I flash it back to winmo, and save my current android? and how do o find the code?
thanks for the help so far
you need to buy a code, or get one from a current t mobile customer. If it was sold unlocked, and now asks for a code, you were miss-sold it, because once its unlocked its always unlocked, , it can never get relocked.
yes you can backup your android rom thru CWM, then flash winmo, insert teh code, reflash magldr, cwm and restore your backup.
I have nand android, can I boot the winmo, or when I put the android it deleted the winmo?
hmmm
i didnt know all this could we put a moded version of min mo 6.5 and do a 1 timeboot for unlocking of an sd card?

This sounds like a really complicated thing to do..
Can I just put winmo ot my sdcard and run it?
I read that you can use winmo and android the same time if you have nand winmo and android on sd, but can this be done the other way arround?
Right now I am reading throughout the forum to see if this can be done and how, but if anyone knows the answer I will be very happy if you tell me.
Thanks for the help
No, winmo on nand only. Yes you deleted winmo when you flashed nand android. You will need to flash winmo from scratch.
@jackrabbit,, unlock SD card? We're talking about sim card unlock.
(Wait, did you mean "for unlocking OFF and SD card"? In which case i doubt it, winmo will only work from nand. Not SD.
The whole process should only take 25 minutes..
Magldr - cwm - backup and restore - backup - reboot to bootloader - flash a winmo rom - unlock sim card - enter bootloader - re apply 2.08.hspl android compatible radio, magldr and cwm - magldr - cwm - backup restore - full restore.
Ok, thank you.
For now I contacted with my seller that the phone isn`t unlocked and requested an unlock code. By the time he answers me and gives me the code I`ll stay with android, just because I still have some hope that the code will work on android.
If not, I`ll put the winmo and then android.
Do you know the easiest way to put winmo? I`ll need it only to put the code and then flash to android?
Thank you much for the help.

Well, it would take 25 mins to you.
I`m reading like for half an hour just to find out how to put winmo
And didn`t find anything
like for example I don`t know what Magldr and cwm
Oh, well.. there will be lots of reading
EDIT:
Okay... I couldn`t wait and flashed to winmo 7 - using this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nac3Fnf-lY4
and using radio Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14**:
i`m still waiting for my seller to respond
well, my seller gave me a code.. and when I enter it it says that it is accepted, but still when I try to make a call it asks me for the code and doesn`t give me to call.
Do you think that this has anything to do with the fact that the phone is using winmo 7, insted of the 6.5 version?
Exactly. Only winmo 6.5 has the ability to correctly accept that code.
Wont work in wp7 or android, because (drumroll....) its not an android or wp7 phone!
EDIT - oh its you that just bricked a tmous, guess you can stop worrying about how to unlock it. Sorry for your loss.
I did once input unlock code on android... It didn't work at start (phone couldn't get signal) but after I reflashed it with WinMo and reflashed radio it worked again... Before reflashing try manualy to select network, I think that after that it worked...
network unlock
buying a code is the only wait to unlock HD2 i don't have unlock box either.
I have problem, i have display with Ouy have tried 5 times, please wait until timeout -Sim Lock and how long i must stay or how bypass this
Is the unlock code the same for every hd2 or is it individual to the phone?
If it is generic, please could someone PM me the code.
Would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Timeout is not too long just put it to one side & review every 20 minutes until option is available
Codes are not generic so you will need get one for your device via its IMEI number
You can find codes via eBay at some success, I use http://www.pdamagician.com/unlocking.html with success & fast service on HTC & Samsung ...
You may also have a local shop that can do it via software & cable at sensible cost but take care as with everything buying cheap can lead to bad experience ...

not 100% sure its as simple as that. There's a lot of sites suggesting that after 5 incorrect attempts it needs to be unlocked using a cable rather than the code, (some places suggest it becomes permanently hard locked after 5 attempts, but maybe that's older information, id be more incliuned to believe the 'requires a cable')
Ive also seen some sites that suggest that after 5 attempts there is a much longer timeout, in the hours rather than minutes, and after THAT continuing to enter it incorrectly leads to a hard lock.

Never gone as far as 5 wrong codes but did read & post in a thread on xda with a guy on 5th attempt & waiting for time out, he did succeed but was a few hours before code would accept, will try & find thread later & link to it.
Personally if I have trouble after 3 attempts I get it done via cable as almost as cheap as codes here.
Thanks guys.
Reflashed stock rom because only windows mobile 6.5 can unlock the hd2, bought an unlock code from ebay for £1.11, entered it into winmo and have now reinstalled my android nand rom. works perfect

Completely lost going from Windows Phone 7 to android or a better wp7

Hi, I'm completely lost I'm also a Noob I haven't flashed a rom since I owned a HTC vogue which was a very long time ago and I can imagine it isn't the same.
My mom's HD2 is running wp7 I don't know the name of it but it don't work too good no market, she can't get texts because of a space issue and apparently she can't set up her internet for Simple mobile..
Now we're stuck she loves wp7 so we found a Tiger rom but we get an error every time (something about sd card init)?
She wants either WP7 (working) or Android
So far we have
Magldr 13
HSPL or whatever and a 5.51 radio
and I cannot figure out if we can even flash a rom because everything says 2.08 and I don't want to brick her only phone.
We are super lost I saw the noob video and yes I am I noob but I just want her phone working by tonight shes in school and I don't know a thing about Flashing and I don't understand none of this I have a Samsung Infuse.
Help us please I searched all on google about going from Wp7 to android and I could not get my answer.
I would THANK anyone who offers some kinda help tonight.
You should try this ROM. I use it on my HD2 and it's really good. It's updatable via Zune or via cab sender.
What you need to know about WP7 is that the type of SD card you're using matters a lot. It can give you all kinds of problems.
Do some reading on that thread and have a go at it. So long as you've got HSPL 2.8 and magldr installed, you should not be able to easily brick the phone.
EDIT: as is my usual, I forgot to put the link in.

Sounds to me like somebody has been messing with moms phone and screwed it up
Mate...there are so many posts on flashing what and in what order in this section alone it is pretty pointless me typing them out again.
But in direct response to the issues you mentioned.
SD card . You need to make sure your SD card is clean and formatted (FAT 32)before you flash a WP7 rom. Unlike other phone OS's , WP7 has to have a good working SD card in order to work.
As many members (including me) have recommended in the past. The best starting point is to TASK29 it (wipe) and install an original WP6.5 rom first.
That way you can make sure all the hardware is working properely.
Then go download all the software you need ( HSPL 2.08, MAGDLR, Radio, Rom of choice) Plenty of links scattered all over this forum.
And remember to always hard reset your phone after you have flashed the ROM !!! Not doing this can give all kinds of grief.
Your moms market place probably isnt working because the phone isnt activated with micro soft. Loads of threads on activation. take a few mins to read them.
There are other markets ( for apps) that don't require activation. Some roms included them "in" the ROM.
Good luck

First of all read the 'how to' links in my signature. Secondly, sounds like whoever installed wp7 on the phone never entered the required activation code to access marketplace from the phone with a windows live id.
Thirdly, sounds like you have Yuki/XBmod's ROM. This ROM locks the SD card for security in case of a lost phone. Go the WP7 development forum and read the first post in both Back To The Future thread and the companion SP1 threads to learn about how to unlock the SD card. Or the other path is to use a new SD card.
You can either install Yuki/XBmod again which is the current version of WP7 Mango v8107. If you don't want to worry about locking SD issues try flashing one of the other ROMs. I've tried Pjad..something's ROM and.it's pretty stable even with the beta v8773. I've heard good things about HD2O's ROM too.
The thing about Yuki/XBmod ROM is it is updatable via Microsoft update. The other's are updatable unless you flash again and setting up your phone from scratch everytime. The only other ROM I know of that is updatable like Yuki's is the HD2O ROM.
It's up to you which you choose.
As for setting up for Simple...there is a new updated cab that has Simple setups for you to use. I think that once you install Connection Setup from the HTC Marketplace it'll have the setup you need regardless of which ROM.
Also, read the General Questions forum for information on obtaining a WP7 activation code.
I would recommend the real MS Marketplace for relatively less risky WP7 apps....so get an activation code. It's not difficult.
