Guy, I was thinking, how can we download games like
Reckless race
NFS Shift
Dungeon Defenders
Layar
to our Notion Ink? Is there any other way to do it?
For example there isn't Reckless Race in SlideME. I want that application

If you have another Android device, you can download apps on that device then back them up using Titanium Backup. Then transfer the file to your NotionInk Adam and install ("restore") it.
Better yet, I'm hoping some of the XDA devs will get the market working on the NotionInk Adam like they have on many other devices. They were able to do it on the ViewSonic G-tablet which also runs the Tegra2 SoC.
I have Samsung Galaxy S but device hasn't got Android Market and I don't want to change its ROM due to Warranty restrictions. I guess I should wait for a XDA dev. to develop a way to download Android Market into Adam as you said. Thanks.
No doubt someone will have working gapps within hours of receiving their tablet, don't worry about it.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Yea the best solution in mean time would be to have dropbox (cloud storage).. then just dropbox the apk that you backed up with astro or titanium backup for quick access on the adam.

And how did you get Titanium on the Adam? It doesn't download from the Market? Where would I find the apk?

You should be able to download it directly from their site:
http://matrixrewriter.com/android/files/TitaniumBackup_latest.apk
Note: Titanium Backup requires root access, but it looks like rothnic has just release an update.zip package in his Eden Plus thread which contains root access and the stock Google Apps.
I don't have my Adam to test the update.zip yet, but usually the gapps packs include Market, Chat, Gmail, etc...
Anyone eve try Androidzom.com? Ran a search on it for Adobe Flash and it came up. It says it wil email you the link to download the program. The link it sends however wll only run from an android device, so it my require the market place.

Looks like danward released an update.zip with google apps and root support as well, but it's still in it's early stages. Based on the latest comments in the thread, I expect he'll release an updated version so people don't have to replace the boot.img in his zip.
From the bottom of page 2 of danwards thread:

Just replace modified boot.img with original one and it will flash. You won't get root, but gapps will work.

Today I was playing with the XOOM at the Verizon store and I did not find Launcher Pro at the Market store, do you know why ?, is Google filtering the apps that are not Android 3.0 compatible from the Market ?, thanks
android market is filtered by device type. so you won't see apps that are not compatible with your device. someone correct me if i'm wrong, but this is how it is.
Launcher Pro sucks on the Xoom, IMO. I side loaded it from my Droid, then deleted it, waste of time.

This is true. Believe it does the same thing for devices held back on 2.1 or 1.6 etc. and apps that only work on 2.2+

Search is your friend, a link to the developer web site or beta .apk was posted somewhere in here.
Sideloading the cell phone version is a fail, but I understand the in development tablet version is pretty slick.
Or failing that a google of the developer web site will lead you to what you want.
This is the new market rolled out for the zoom the other day.
Enjoy
Post - is it any better?

Thanks for posting. I find it much better and much faster. The old market was very slow for me

Does this require root? Can someone post some screenshots? I am at work and won't have the tablet for a couple hours.
This new Market version looks exactly like the phone version.
Why have they changed the interface.
The previous one looked great.
Previous version - 1.0.27
this looks just like the new market on the android phones. i dont really like how it looks..... i wish there was a way to hide the movies/books from the market because i doubt i will ever buy/rent a book or a movie from the app store. i noticed no difference in performance. im sticking with the old market for now, but thanks for the download

Precisely the reason I renamed marketupdater on my phone, and will probably be doing it on my tab too.
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
I tried out the new Market app but had to remove it. It caused Earth and Legend to crash on load and I read a report that it causes Dungeon Defenders to crash too. I'm guessing these apps may have some type of protection that calls the Market app?
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
I'm now running this new market on my a500. I must say that the old market feels cumbersome and clumsy.this is way more suited to hc and is feels streamlined...
I love it on my DInc2 it took a while to get used to but I can't stand the old market anymore.
I haven't run into any problems with crashing apps. Earth runs fine. I'm using honeyvillain's rom.
Does this improve any problems with the Honeycomb Market, like reviewing apps direct from the tablet?
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
Portrait mode is sweet although the market is really crying out for a customized view, wierdly though the old market is still available alongside the new market on my tab 10.1(overcome rom). Accessing app details is not very intuitive, clicking the icon for the selected app shows details but there is no visual prompt to suggest this(could be a BOB issue). No issues launching any apps so far.
What's the best way to install this? I would think to remove Vending.apk from system/apps, rename this file to vending.apk and put it into the apps folder...is that right?
Update: Nope, don't need to do all that. Just download and install
Update: I LIKE! Portrait mode, FINALLY able to click a screen shot for a larger image, everything flows very well, seems like this market version is even better suited for a tablet than a phone. Thumbs up!
Thanks for the download MJ-12!

yeah you can review apps from that tablet now
Definitely a better market than what was built in. It is a lot faster than the old one, which is especially impressive considering the very limited internet I have access to right now.
Havn't ran in to any problems with it so far.
Downloaded this And I still have old market and new market. 2 different icons.

Hi,
there is said to be a tablet version for 7" tablets.
Could someone of you install Flipboard and mail me the apk?
Thanks a lot!
(You can save the apk file with FileExpert for example)
I'm not aware of any tablet versions of Flipboard. Do you have any references?
I wrote them and they said they have a 7" version.
If you mean that the devs told you that directly, then they should also be able to tell you where to get it, and I'd imagine that they would make it available on the Play Store. I'm going to assume that you asked them something along the lines of "Is there a version of Flipboard for 7" tablets?" and they said yes, but what they really meant was that Flipboard works on 7" tablets and there's only one version.
I do not want to discuss this further.
If anyone has it, I would really appreciate if she/he could send it to me.
End of story
No discussion needed, just ask the dev again.... then u know for sure because I also think they misunderstood u....

I guess it may not be downloadable/available in certain countries.

Yeah I just tested it and it's portrait only at the moment. On the bright side--cool app! Never tried it before.
It looks like 7" is where they draw the line between phone and tablet currently and tablets arent supported yet. As a new user I cant post links here yet but if you go to the official flipboard support page and enter searchterm "tablet" you can see where i got this from and add your voice to the requests.
There is a workaround using some rotation control app but feel free to add to the thread asking for a tablet version.
In this video, I go over the camera, video playback, audio books, and a few other fun items.
Before you ask....
Yes, I loaded apk files on here that you would not normally be able to get from Amazon's Appstore. Most worked with no problems.
Nice review... the best that I have seen so far (inc the Verge etc)
Hey just wanted to say thanks for the review. I was on the fence about this and you sold me with the side loading ability. I loved the original Fire, and was looking forward to this. But after reading a few posts about it being locked, and now knowing if it will be rooted I was no longer sure about it. So side loading makes a huge difference.

The Play Store requires files to be manually placed into the /system/app folder and the permissions to be changed. That requires root. All of the other apps were either grabbed from my Nexus 7, or found elsewhere. I downloaded ES File Explorer from the Amazon Appstore, and used it to install the apks.
No PAID apps were harmed in the making of this video.

Thanks for the great review !
The two apps I'm most interested in getting to work on a Kindle Fire HD are Google Maps and Google Now. I know there's no gps but I assume there is some kind of wifi based location ability ? Or just tell Google Maps where I am.
I figure maps shouldn't be too hard, what do you think ? I guess Google Now might require rooting though, is that the case ?
The device itself is pretty sick. But it's still stuck in Amazon's crappy software. It's like putting rims and ground effects on a Pinto; either way, it's still a Pinto.
Thanks for the review - I would like to see how the ComiXology app works but the fact that sideloading works takes a great load off my mind.
I'm definitely going to save up for the 8.9".

I obtained a camera app from the Play Store on another device, then I took the apk and installed it on my KFHD.
I'm not sure if this is the section to ask under but here goes nothing.
The ouya store version of the crunchyroll app supports HD streaming but the Google play store version of the app does not. I was wondering if it was possible to back up the ouya version and install it on another android device. For example the asus transformer which uses the same tegra 3 chip as the ouya. Or just any phone or tablet since ouya just runs a skinned version of android.

Alright, Thanks a lot!
According to Crunchyroll staff, it is the same app on OUYA and Android, and it just runs in tablet mode on the OUYA. It seems like I remember reading that HD in phone mode is not supported yet. It could be that it doesn't correctly detect HD support on all tablets, either.
Damn, well it was worth a shot. I'm so damn tired of waiting for HD support.
