This is the new market rolled out for the zoom the other day.
Enjoy
Post - is it any better?

Thanks for posting. I find it much better and much faster. The old market was very slow for me

Finally, portrait mode. I like this version thx

Does this require root? Can someone post some screenshots? I am at work and won't have the tablet for a couple hours.
This new Market version looks exactly like the phone version.
Why have they changed the interface.
The previous one looked great.
Previous version - 1.0.27
this looks just like the new market on the android phones. i dont really like how it looks..... i wish there was a way to hide the movies/books from the market because i doubt i will ever buy/rent a book or a movie from the app store. i noticed no difference in performance. im sticking with the old market for now, but thanks for the download

I too hate the phone market app.they are pushing crap in your face that you did not ask for. When you do a search it brings up two also and a link to movies and books.as if your going to buy them.grrrrrrr.

Precisely the reason I renamed marketupdater on my phone, and will probably be doing it on my tab too.
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
I tried out the new Market app but had to remove it. It caused Earth and Legend to crash on load and I read a report that it causes Dungeon Defenders to crash too. I'm guessing these apps may have some type of protection that calls the Market app?
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
I'm now running this new market on my a500. I must say that the old market feels cumbersome and clumsy.this is way more suited to hc and is feels streamlined...
I love it on my DInc2 it took a while to get used to but I can't stand the old market anymore.
I haven't run into any problems with crashing apps. Earth runs fine. I'm using honeyvillain's rom.
Does this improve any problems with the Honeycomb Market, like reviewing apps direct from the tablet?
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
Portrait mode is sweet although the market is really crying out for a customized view, wierdly though the old market is still available alongside the new market on my tab 10.1(overcome rom). Accessing app details is not very intuitive, clicking the icon for the selected app shows details but there is no visual prompt to suggest this(could be a BOB issue). No issues launching any apps so far.
What's the best way to install this? I would think to remove Vending.apk from system/apps, rename this file to vending.apk and put it into the apps folder...is that right?
Update: Nope, don't need to do all that. Just download and install
Update: I LIKE! Portrait mode, FINALLY able to click a screen shot for a larger image, everything flows very well, seems like this market version is even better suited for a tablet than a phone. Thumbs up!
Thanks for the download MJ-12!
3.1.6 is over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1284647
Do you need to have the 3.2 OTA to make the new market work? Because I have 3.1 still and it does not work on my Iconia

yeah you can review apps from that tablet now
Definitely a better market than what was built in. It is a lot faster than the old one, which is especially impressive considering the very limited internet I have access to right now.
Havn't ran in to any problems with it so far.
Downloaded this And I still have old market and new market. 2 different icons.

Some reviews I read mention the Zinio app. Mine doesn't come with it... does anyone have the Zinio app on theirs? Mind uploading it somewhere please?
Thanks!
Found mine on nexus one forum. The newspaper portion doesn't work. Magazine portion is rather low quality. Its 3 different apks needed. Don't know if there's a tablet version floating around but if so would be interested as well.

This xoom post has the files I tried it on my iconia A500 worked like a charmed.
All credit goes to hhspiny and kevin majlo they tweeked the apk's so there's no Fc's.
Edit: as of 5/31 its on the market place get it there.
Zinio has just been officially released for Android - Honeycomb devices only:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.zinio.mobile.android.reader&feature=search_result
I am using Zinio on my A500 and loving it.
Installed it straight from the market. All plain sailing and happy days.

Ahh, finally!
I've tried all the other ones floating around but they keep complaining that my time/date could be wrong, or asks me to upgrade to a new version.
The official one from the market seems to work so far! Now, if only the A500's lcd screen was 1920x1200...
Anyone has the updated Market rolled to his/her device yet!?

Try to Uninstall the previous version with titanium backup
It works on Thunderbolt 2.2.1, stock.

Same. It works fine on N1, I did get an error at first but I got it working. Its slower then the regular market, but I like it overall.
The new market looks really good and works very smoothly for me.

Movie section of Market doesn't work with rooted devices
If your device is rooted, you won't have access to the Movies section.
Nice, Google, nice.

Working on rooted defy. Movie section is there. But not willing to 3.99 to test it. Someday. Running good though. Looks nice. Kinda reminds me of wm7

Working great on my N1... thanks for posting
I noticed that some apps vanish from My Apps in the new Market. I had about 4 apps to update in the old Market, two manual because of changed permissions. I left it as-is and installed the new Market. In the new Market, only the two apps without changed permissions appeared as updates in My Apps. The other two apps had vanished completely from the My Apps list. If I search for them manually they will still show up and I can update them though.
You may want to try clearing the data of the market app
Install the new market using the apk from android central.
I like a nice little improvement to the notification: it says "updating" instead of "installing" now
Yet, it is not performing fast enough... I feel laggy when using it. And the new UI looks like WP7 (though I personally like this new design )
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
so it's not just me thinking that it's really laggy ... maybe it's not the final version?
or maybe we now need a Dual-Core Phone to use the new Market
It runs fine for me on the N1 most of the time. The only lag I've noticed is when it's fetching the icons for the apps on the Staff Picks screen or similar. When the icons have been downloaded it runs smoothly. I like the Honeycomb/ICS-like design.
Downloaded Market from http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/07/12/download-the-new-android-market-v3-0-26-with-support-for-movies-and-books/ I am not sure when it will go live in my country so Downloaded from there..I love it but Kinda fell Lag.I think it is new so might take few days/weeks to fix it over it is SO COOL on SGS2 but I have a Problem I can't see Movies Option I think Movies option is not Available in my country yet
Yeah, movie section doesnt appear on my market using MIUI Rom.
Anybody else having issues with Facebook since switching markets? Logic says it can't effect of but since I updated the market, Facebook won't load. Happened immediately after installing the market.
don't be so quick to yell at google for blocking movies if you're rooted
it's pretty clear the movie studios wouldn't give them the licenses for the movies unless they blocked rooted devices
i mean, i'm not agreeing with the studios. cuz are they REALLY worried people are gonna ****ing steal ****ty low res videos off their cellphone? there's SO MANY other(better) ways to pirate these movies. but whatever
just incase anyone was woundering. MAXGO will not work on xoom either, which i dont think was a big shocker cause it was devl by the same people.
i removed device checker, and just like hbogo it FC when you try to login.
ahh man, you got my hopes up for a second there with that title... yeah no official maxgo, hbogo or netflix apps for the xoom.
maybe christmas...
Netflix works fine bruh...

Netflix works. Just pull it off your phone and side load it to your xoom. Works great! If u don't have android phone let me know if u need apk if u can't find it on here and il post the app
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
It seems strange that the best use case for these apps (Honeycomb tablets) seems to be the least developed... It seems especially strange that Netflix has the compatibility in place, but won't update the market's compatible apps so the app shows up when searching the market on a tablet.
Maxgo works well from the full site in flash. HBOGo however studders too much in flash to be usable. Like all here, I would appreciate a native app for Android supported on the Xoom. This continues to be a stick upon which Apple fanbois can use to continue beating upon us.
You can find it HERE

I'm having that same exact issue right now. Did you find a resolution? I was thinking of trying to uninstalling the old market, but wasn't sure if that is possible or if that would cause FC when launching the new market. Thanks.

I sent a tweet this AM with a pic, though it was in portrait. @CallipH
I had no issues with two markets... not sure what to say about that issue. It took about 1 minute to download, select, install, open market, enjoy it.
If you are roored just freeze the stock market with Titanium....
The version of market I already have looks exactly the same as this, only it actually fits my screen properly I installed it and on the main page it had a black line down either side In landscape. I went back to my old version because that fills the whole screen.
Damn, whats wrong with Google? This market, same as 3.311 and 3.312, keeps force closing on the GT10.1... The last one working properly on the tablet was 3.1.6

yea, i'm rooted. i'll freeze the stock market. thanks!
Task included 3.3.12 on Task 8.0 and it works fine in all modes on my Galaxy Tab. Clear app data from market and then delete the old Vending.apk from system/app. That should stop the force closing.
It seems, that the rom was responible for the force closes. I had a Stock rom w/o touchwiz and flashed Tasks 8.0 yesterday, now the force closes are gone. Damn, I hate Touchwiz. I hoped that this rom would make it to the first ICS release :-/
I rooted with this guide, it was quick and easy.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krQDP7xYlWg
Then I froze the original Market app with Titanium and installed the new one no probs. Its defo faster and snappier than the original but its softer and blurrier than the original on a screen this size. defo seems optimised for a phone instead of a tablet.

It is similar as stock android browser but i has a score of 343+10 on html5test.com also it is faster and better looking, more desktop like it has some nice feautures of auto zooming but i got some problems with pinch to zoom
Tested on Desire HD.
does it work on the evo with an ics rom in it or does the rom not matter?
Thx

Same thing here. Saw it first thing this morning. Downloaded from market. After typing in a search, never loads web content. UI is there, just no web content. (Currently running evervolv 4.0.3 ICS ROM).
Tried wiping cache and data. Didn't think to try fixing apk uid mismatches. Already uninstalled, though.

Works great on my Nexus S running ICS but cant get it in my Galaxy Tab 10.1 running 3.1, wont even try to install.
Lovely browser though, its streets ahead of the normal one.
The app requires the LEVEL 14 API.. So not sure when the great devs here can get it to work with GINGERBREAD.
I have it running on my epic 4g with cm9 but its a no go on the evo. The UI looks great, I like the functionality of the tabs. Look forward to playing with it on my transformer
Darn, and here I was thinking I could break free of miren... Anyone know if intent works properly on this one? (i.e. you open a Youtube link and it gives you the option to load it in the Youtube app)
Didn't work well for me
I tried it out on my Evo running Drew's P7 build. Uninstalled it after about 5 minutes. It takes up 50 MB of internal storage, wouldn't move to SD, the keyboard was really laggy when typing URLs, the page wouldn't display, and when I went into app management, it was using a whopping 81 MB of RAM.
Maybe I'll revisit this later, but for now it isn't right for my device.
