[Q] help with installation of Android - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I am trying to install android onto my hd2 from my sd card. But every time i try to boot it up it goes to the black screen with the writing on for about 3 seconds then gets stuck on the boot screen. I have checked my radio version and it is 2.08.50.xx so i do not need to install a new radio version.

That doesnt sound like your radio... It sounds like you have a bad ROM on your SD... Re-download the ROM, format the SD card on the computer (not on the phone) to fat32, reload the ROM and try it again...
If it doesnt work... I heard someone formatted the SD card through Windows Mobile and then loaded the ROM and it worked.
Lastly, if all of that doesnt work, then re-flash the WM ROM and the radio then try it again.
Good luck.

Booting the Android on HD2

Hello, I started all this flashing and other stuff yesterday and firstly flashed the HSPL, then radio and then started to try booting the android. I restarted my phone like 9 times? because every time it freezed on the welcome , first time setup in android and sometimes rebooted itself, when booting the droid :S
I was running a radio 2.12.50 that time and OFFICIAL ROM.. Then i read that you have to have some custom rom pref, to run android and i flashed myself newest energy rom and radio 2.12.50 and also made a hard reset and formatted my 4GB micro SD card. And after trying to boot the android now, im having the same issue.... I mean it makes 10 minute first time boot with that greet HTC icon on black wallpaper, then Android icon starts to round and then i have 2 thingss.
1) It opens me the android lock screen, i tap down and scrolol down and i have on white wallpaper the HTC icon for 30min and more(didnt test longer, resetted) , or it just soft resets during that icon rounding.....
I tryed to flash on 2.07.50, 2.10.50, 2.15.50 Radios, and any of them didn't help.
Any suggestions?
i also had a hard time start using android
i always have to reboot my phone 5-10 times until it boots
i dont know if it is normal but it is working
just try a full format for your sd card and search the tread of your rom for people that are telling witch radio they use etc
i think that is the best advice i can give you
not normal my phone boots the first time and everytime... I didn't do the install though so don't ask what I did I just know that isn't right
U can use the 1 gb img file given by the dev for faster boot up time. Or if it loops, change ur startup text. Search the forum on what needs to be changed.
I got the European HD2, with 512 Ram i guess? And i tryed that also, took the 512 image file from the folder and copyed to the Android folder of the SD card, same thing , just restarts when booting

First off your HD2 is not bricked. If it wax bricked it would not so much as turn on.To save your HD2 do one of these two things.
Download the official update from T-Mobile.com. Look behind your battery to find your IMEI number to enter. Next make sure your HD2 is good and charged I know this is hard as it will not boot but just let it charge for a good while as you do not want the battery to die during either method of flashing. Now while the phone is off hold the volume down button down and press the power button but keep holding the volume down button down. When the phone is in bootloader(multicolor screen) connect your phone to the computer via USB and wait for Serial in the white bar of the bootloader screen to change to USB and for your computer to show it recognizes your phone then right click on the update package and click run as administrator and run the update utility. This should flash the stock ROM but if you have MAGLDR you will loose it and if you have HSPL you might lose it.
Now the secound option you have is to right click on the update package and click on view or explore wich ever one you see and find the RUU_signed.nbh file and rename it to leoimg.nbh or LEOIMG.nbh as it is not case sensitive. Then take a 500MB to 4GB SD card that is formated with Fat 32 and place it into a USB SD card reader and plug it into a USB port on your computer. If you are not sure about the format. Go to "My Computer" and find the card reader, it will be a removable drive or a mass storage device (make sure to make a back up copy of the intior contents of the SD card first as it will wipe the card clean)and right click on it and click format and then Fat 32. Copy the leoimg.nbh file to the root of the SD card. After coping it to the SD card place the card in your phone and put it into bootloader the same as mentioned above but keep the volume down button held down until you see searching on the phone screen and then let the volume down button go. You will have to press the power button to comfirm it. This should flash your phone to complete stock as it will remove MAGLDR, CWM, and HSPL if you have it on your phone.
There is other options to but I highly suggest going back to stock and then starting back over again as to me it just simplifies things some. Also seeing as you have a T-Mobile HD2 do not flash a radio that looks like any of these 2.04.50.xx, 2.05.50.xx, or any radio like this 2.xx.51.xx as any of these radios will brick a T-Mobile HD2.

Yes you can reflash a Andriod ROM if you go back to stock but you would have to flash HSPL 2.08 again, flash MAGLDR 1.13 again, and CWM if you want to use it.
If you just want to flash another Andriod ROM just turn your HD2 off and then turn it back on button keep the power button down until the main menu of MAGLDR comes up (that is if you already have MAGLDR on your HD2) and then follow the instructions from the Andriod ROM on how to flash it using MAGLDR or CWM if you have it.
If you do not have HSPL and MAGLDR on your HD2 uou will have to flash both to hour HD2 befor you can flash a Andriod ROM. To flash these do this but your HD2 into bootloader (muticolor screen) and connect it to your computer via USB cable and wait to see USB in the white bar of the bootloader screen and that your computer recognizes your HD2 then flash wichever one you are wanting to flash. You will have to do this for every individual thing you want to flash. You also need to flash HSPL 2.08 first then MAGLDR 1.13 and then CWM if you want it.

No you have to have MAGLDR to install Android. Try installing Clock Work Mod (CWM) and use it to install your Andriod ROM. Just do a search for Clock Work Mod for HTC HD2. Then read and follow the instructions in the ROM thread to use CWM to flash it.
i have a few problems when trying to install any rom using magldr.
First, whenever i boot up to the magldr screen, sometime it will freeze and i have to take out my battery.
Second, When installing a rom, it gets stuck at "the booting android from nand 123456 go go go" screen.
What could be wrong with my magldr, i already tried to re-installing it and it still acts up.

Take your SD card out of your HD2 and then boot it up and see if you still have the problem. If it is gone you need to back up your SD card and do a full wipe of it and reformat it using your computer and a SD card reader. Format it Fat 32.

Run a task 29 on your HD2 then reclash MAGLDR and see if this helps it should, unless you have some bad boot sectors.
damn, i also tried that too, but it still freezes on me. i think i have a bad boot sector, how do i fix this?

Well you can not fix bad boot sectors persay witbout replacing the NAND memory chip which acrually requires the replacment of the intior mainboard of your HD2. Because you can not just replce the chip cause of the wah the mainboard is made. Wht you can do is use a JTAG device and some special software to go in and mark those sectors as bad so the phone will no longer try to use those sectors.

[Q] HTC HD2 bricked, can load bootloader cant install any ROM

HI everyone,
This is the first time for me posting a thread here...thanks in advance.
Well I have a HTC HD2 that is a friends of mines. He was trying to change the radio so it could work in another country and managed to brick the phone. He got tired of trying to fix the phone so he gave it to me. I have tried fixing it with a tool kit I downloaded in another thread here. I managed to get it to boot butt it wouldn't get past T-Mobile screen...I kept on messing with it trying to install a ROM and different radios but non will work and wont turn on anymore but still is able to be recognize but PC(not mobile media center) and the last thing I did was task29. It stopped at 99%...still can load bootloader 3 colors but having a harder time getting the phone recognize by PC. Can anyone help me before I get into a deeper hole? If your need any more detail please ask me...btw the phone is running SPL- 3.03 HSPL in boot loader.
to the rescue !!

your friend shouldnt have flashed the radio without proper info !!
radio is the only thing which bricks the device !!!
dont worry we'll try to sort something out !!
firstly start with flashing a proper radio !!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
download the radio 2.15.50.14 from this thread and flash it !!
NOTE : if you cant flash radio from ur pc, via nbh installer or the toolkit, you can flash it from a memory card !!
just format a normal memory card, put the radio on the card, rename the radio file to LEOIMG.nbh and get to the bootloader screen !!
follow the instructions from there and flash the radio !!
secondly if you want android or wp7-7.5 on ur device !! hspl 3.03 wont work !!
so install hspl 2.08 for that !!
for winmo6.5 3.03 is ok !!
do a task 29 once and flash any rom or magldr(for android or wp7-7.5)!!
good luck .....
thanks for quick reply
I am trying to do what you instructed me.
Didn't work
I tried it on the PC and it sadly stopped @ 96%, now it wont turn on volume down+power. Battery was charged and i didn't turn off. It displayed error 262. as soon as I can I will try it on sd card. Thanks though.
I was not able to install the radio but did in fact get to task29 successfully and MAGLDR Version-1.13. Now my phone is stuck in the Stick together screen. Can anyone help me from here what should I do. thanks I will be waiting for a responce.
Do you still need help cos its really easy to unbrick your phone and I say this because once I flashed 5 different roms in 2 hours or less and my phone wouldn't even turn on and when it did it would get stuck on the tmObile splash screen and restart but I fixed it and now I'm running the best Rom out there lol... reply to this thread and I'll tell you what to do

The thing is that I can't get any ROM's to finish installing...in the SD card the power button does not work...and in the computer the fartest I gotten was 99% but always stops and gives me error ussualy Error 262. Ireally don't know what to do. MY friend said he took it to an Asian Guy...I noticed that the battery S/N does not match the phone...can this have an effect...I haven't been able to flash any ROMS successfully not even the debranded stock. I flashed several phones and installed many different custom firmwares but this phone has been a real challenge...I'm over 2 weeks in...Thanks for the help thus far you guys are the best...
leoimg.nbh won't start to install
Hi everyone,
I have a severe problem with my HTC HD2 after installing a NAND version of android which did not work very well, than wanting to reinstall winmob 6.5 (vodafone) it startet "loading" the leoimg.nbh from the SD-card, but than stayed in this status neverending. So I interrupted (was that the mistake?? :-( }. Now I'm able to start MAGLDR 1.13, am also able to install another NAND version, but with every version I get the message: problem with android.xxx and so on.
I can start the bootloader modus (SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE), also connect by USB, but if I try to reload any leoimg.nbh from SD card - it does nothing, just stays in the bootloader modus.
Did I destroy any hardware by interrupting the non functioning "loading"?
Please help, if you can, what I could do now to get a functioning NAND android again!
Many thanks in advance!!!
freak just try the task 29 and u might return everything to normal condition
and for future never interrupt the installation process as u can brick ur device
for the main topic, i can say that ur device is fully bricked and the only way is taking it to the service center or try flashing directly into the hardware, but thats dangerous and requires professional skills
Plz help!

First of all; This steps can solve your problem. But first of all(don't forget to check 2.08.HSL) try to use "Task29" and if it is success, load Radio ROM 2.15.50.14, and load original Winmo 6.5 ROM (Tmous or EU which phone do you use).
If you are stuck somewhere, then;
Download an original ROM for your HTC device from HTC webside.
- Format your SD card like FAT32 primary.
- Take "RUU_signed.nbh" from an original ROM and copy it to your SD card.
- Rename to "leoimg.nbh"
- Reset your device while pressing the volume down button.
Radio ROM 2.15.50.14;
Radio ROM 2.15.50.14
HD2 Toolkit 4.2.0.1; ( contains task 29, magldr and recovery and also HSPL)
HD2 Toolkit 4.2.0.1
it's revived!

Do you think I should perform a task 29 now or I can just proceed with installing a new radio and then installing a new ROM?
Thanks again mate!
Apparently I need to install SPL 2.08 before trying to install HSPL and then run android.. anyone know where I can find it?
Nevermind figured everything out Thanks anyway

If you want to change your ROM with one another like Android NAND ROM or Windows 6.5 ROM, then use this procedures.
For NAND Android ROM; You must flollow this sequence;
first check your device if it is 2.08.HSPL, and format your sdcard ext3 or ext4 and 1gb (which one you must use is pointed out by your Android chief). Copy new Android ROM into your sdcard's FAT32 section. insert it into your HTC device.
1. do task29
2. instal radio rom 2.15.50.14
3. install magldr 1.13
4. do recovery 5.0.2.6
5. do clear cache and dalvik cache.
6. Choose your android ROM .zip file on sdcard, load and enjoy...
For Windows 6.5 Follow this sequence;
first check your device if it is 2.08.HSPL, Format your sdcard like FAT 32 primary partition. insert it into your HTC device.
1. do Task29
2. Install Radio ROM 2.15.50.14
3. Run LeoCustomRUU.exe like "Run as Administrator" which Windows 6.5 rom you chose to use.
Radio ROM 2.15.50.14;
Radio ROM 2.15.50.14

Are you booting into bootloader and connecting the device to your computer so you can get the HTC Sync connection. Just boot into bootloader by holding the volume down button down and poewering on your device. Connect it to your computer via USB and when you see Serial in the white bar of boo5tloader change to USB you have the HTC Sync connection and can flash your device.
I face a very odd problem with my HD2 EU. After years of 2 different versions of Android on nand I decided to reset it to stock(Vol down+power with leoimg.nbh in root of a FAT32 formatted microsd). When I get in bootloader mode there seem to be 2 instances of bootloader. The first 3 colour screen with all the right wordings lasts a second or two then I get a second 3 colour screen with the same wordings. With my Verbatim 8Gb class4 microsd formatted FAT32 and leoimg.nbh (obtained from the original RUU_Leo_HTC_ITA_1.66.408.1_Radio_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Signed_LEO_Ship.exe) in the root directory, the device does not recognize the file and it's not possible to restore the phone to stock, but I can only get into usb connection.
Being able to get in usb mode with the various versions of HSPL (1-2-3-4) I can still change the bootloader. With the HD2 Android toolkit 4.2.0.1 I can install cLK, Magldr, do a Task29 and repartition.
When I use the RUU installer I can install the RUU_signed.nbh that I used to get the leoimg.nbh BUT when I do it, and it does finish gracefully, on the screen that states the currently installed image THE INDICATION OF SUCH AN IMAGE IS BLANK whilst the name of the image to install is the one I am flashing.If I reflash the same image AGAIN (so I know what's on the device) the info of the installed image is never displayed.So after trying the various bootloaders HSPL and SPL and getting the same result you are my only resort.
Has anybody experienced such a problem? It is as if the the bootloader goes through a script that then starts a second "identical" bootloader (I understand that I may seem crazy) that is not capable of recognizing a leoimg.nbh. All my buttons are still working so it's definitely not a button problem. Therefore in a nutshell the question is: if I can't get the device to recognize a leoimg.nbh is there any other way to make it do so, given that I can communicate via usb without problems ?

[Q] HD2 not responding

Dear all,
Some time ago some guy came over to me to have his phone (HD2) reflashed. I installed the HardSPL, eMagldr 1.13 and the 400mb file-system as needed for the rafdroid version I installed. Everything worked out fine. But now he has manually flashed CWM without changing filesystem etcetera and took out SD card and formatted it. The phone did actually boot in CWM, and he sold it to me. Now I wanted to do a factory reset, but the phone wouldn't boot anymore, nothing. I tried flashing back stock ROM, but the phone will not be found. I cannot even reflash the 400mb filesystem, it says RSPL.cpp missing... I'm running out of ideas and I'm starting to panic a little. So here are my problems:
- Phone crashed when booted into AD RECOVERY;
- Phone does not start up in any way, when lucky stuck forever in CWM bootlogo (for over 60 minutes);
- When booting into bootloader (volume down + power), a text "loading" should appear, but it doesn't;
I have no clue what to do from here. I don have the T-Mobile version of the phone I do know that . But it seems not to respond to anything which sucks. But I do get into MAGLDR with the menu choices so the device can not be ****ed up too bad.
Please advise me on this

Leoimg in capitals should be ok,, correctly extracted from a stock rom? (People still sometimes make the mistake of simply renaming the whole romname.zip file, without extracting the ruu_signed.nbh file first)

When you try to run the RUU, does it say USB in the white bar of bootloader? if not you have adriver issue and need to install Active Synce(Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center(Windows Vista and 7).
RE:
Yes it does say USB and I managed to do a vodafone update from the HTC site. Though I don't know if it was a vodafone branded device, but that shouldn't matter right?
Anyway, I'm stuck forever in the "HTC" screen in green letters. So this time I'm stuck way earlier. But I'm going to give it half an hour and see what happens. I had to run the update three times before it succeeded so I doubt it.
But another thing, now I ran the update MAGLDR will be restored in its factory form right? And recovery and **** has been removed so I could try to reinstall them and go on from there if the phone won't boot, right?
RE:
Now I can't even get into MAGLDR. The phone is stuck in the first bootscreen saying HTC for over 3 hours now, I turned off my phone and I'm running the update again now, getting errors again. What do you advise? I still got an 8GB sd cart in it but I read somewhere that is OK.
If you flashed a stock rom, magldr is gone, magldr is a hacked together bootloader from the dft hackers,,, there is no "factory form".
Most 8gb or larger cards wont flash nbh files, but some do,
If you downloaded the rom from HTC using your phones serial number, then yes, its voda branded.
I suspect some corruption, some variant of stuck radio, .
I'd start by trying to use hspl2.exe to set hspl 1.66.0000 then flash the stock rom from SD taking careful note of the blue writing during the flash,
As Samsamuel said if you flashed a stock ROM MAGLDR is gone4 and you will have to re install MAGLDR, You being stuck at the splash screen could be caused be the stock ROM you flashed not being the correct stock ROM cause if you flashed it via SD card you removed HSPL and there for if it is not the correct ROM it will not boot. Also if you flashed it via RUU and it is a older ROM version the HSPL 2.08 that you have might no be compatible with the ROM causing it to stick at the splash screen. Maybe this will help some.
