wow , u droped an hd2 in toilet?
Yep! old school bricking!
Remove the battery now!
Then, put it on the radiator for one week.
After that, disassemble it as much as you can and insert the mainboard and most other parts into cleaning-alcohol, you can get it at a pharmacy.
I guess other users will have more tips for you.
Thanks anyway but it's insured so it's all good just a bit annoying, and I can't wait a week as I have to fly stateside this week!
thanks again!
just kinda thought it was funny!

'I've bricked ON my phone!!!' Haha.
I've heard soaking it in distilled water before you do the 91% rubbing alcohol helps too, hope you fix your baby

O2 Prem insurance really is great .. I dropped mine and had a TINY scratch but it annoyed me so i rang and told them i dropped it and got a new one 1 day later
Friends, when you drop your phone in water it is still not dead. You should IMMEDIATELY remove the battery. After that you should disassemble it and rinse all parts except the screen in distillate water and dry naturally or by worm air from hair dryer.
It is not the water that kills the phone. If you remain the battery on place the electricity in it and salt/acids i water will destroy the printed wires on the internal PCBs by galvanization for few hours and even minutes. It is just eating them.
well, **** a brick(ed HD2)

Yeah it sucks. I have insurance, but i'm guessing because the phone is so new, I made a claim but I have to fax them information and do all this extra stuff. I never had to do this when I made a claim with the TP2.
Ouch, I'm known to do that sometimes leave me phone on my lap and get up out the car. Luckily I normally have some full body protection and a screen guard on my phone.
Looks like it still works though.
yeah I have a screen protector coming, will get here today (a bit too late lol). I am looking for a case, im picky when it comes to those. Not much out right now other than a limited ebay picking and the one from verizon. Which I just now found out they make in a clear color, looks like I will have one for my replacement...
I have the body glove and zagg screen, and as sad as this is to say I have actually drooped mine twice and you can't even tell. It still looks fresh outta the box. Good luck with the replacement to from what I've heard VZW is still sold out.

sorry to say, but i dont think ur the first casualty.
also insurance ftw.
I bought the silicone cover from Verizon, I have not dropped my phone yet hopefully it protects the phone if I drop it.
Hopefully Otterbox will make one for this phone like the one for the iphone.
dropped my x10 and nothing happened. wouldn't wanna try it with my incredible now

Well i completed the claims and it already gave me a tracking number and guaranteed my replacement will be here on the 7th.
I've got my shiny HD2 and i've fallen in love!
But after 4 days of owning i tripped today and my worst fear the screen crack!!! and its huge the screen is covered in 70% cracks. tho it still works but its hard to make out the keyboard in some areas
before all the posts about how to repair i used the search and am aware how to replace and purchase a replacement im looking at £32 on ebay and a few hours of time one weekend...
But now my question in my search for answers i've seen lots and i mean lots of info on this, is the screen the phones achilles heel. is there away to prevent this from happening. eg a good screen protector to help with the stress of dropping all falling!! would gel cases make a difference?
Basicly can i prevent this from happening in the future?
Regards
Wappy
cause you can prevent it, dont drop it!!lol, silcone case helps, ive dropped mine a few times and from height, just has to catch it at the wrong angle and it will go!

wondered how many posts it would be till some one said dont drop it lol
what i feared!.. is there a neck chain or a chain attachment available to i could attach it to my jeans so if it did drop it would only end up by my knee? but there is no hole attachment for it again meaning i have to hold it meaning my little fingers might drop it
Ahh MY old TYTNII I could throw it at people and it still worked lol, but im guessing bigger glass screen = more fragile!
Yeah, it sucks...this happened to my wifes phone like 3 months ago. It had a protector, but apparently a little rock on the floor hit the bottom part of the screen. $125 for a new phone.

the screen, for the size it quite tough, but it is glass!I had a LG BL40, dropped it after a week, chucked it in the bin and got this...apart from a couple of scratches, no cracks!!
well this is the damage to mine!
and with it still working
i've orded a gel case and a Vikuiti screen protector and hopefully that might help for the next screen

My wife dropped it from her lap while getting out of our SUV. It landed face down and looks like it hit the corner first. We have a connection at T-mo so it is getting replaced today, no worries there.
My question is what to do with the busted phone. The LCD is fine and it even accepts input just fine so the digitizer is good. I found several threads on replacing the glass but it seems more of a project than I want to take on. Should I try to get it repaired? Just sell it for parts?
Thank you for reading.

If you can get the phone fixed for less than a hundred you might as well have it done. You could keep it as a spare or sell it for 200 bucks...
That was my though. Any suggestions for getting it fixed in the Seattle area? Or is HTC support a good economical way to go?
You can buy any part you need on ebay, and i just sold my hd2 for 315... so it's def worth it.
I heard HTC is super expensive. Then again it's only hearsay. I say just fix it yourself. If you can't oh well it's a spare.
@cris, what are HD2's going for locally? My brother can't even get rid of a perfectly working HD2 for $200 here in deep south texas.

They are going anywhere from 200 to 250ish here in the nati on craigslist... People are selling them with Android on them which I think is a little sketchy since there are so many builds that aren't perfect. Seems like a lot to me too.

Maybe I will find an easy way to post pictures later, but do NOT take a hammer to your vibrant (because it has survived this long under UNintentional abuse) and hit it with a hammer and expect it to work afterwards. It probably won't. No matter how drunk you are. And regardless of how much you paid cash for your phone. Cash.
I am guessing no-one will warranty what a picture would show. Gorilla glass or not, do NOT hit it with a hammer to show how much more resilient it is vs. dumb phone. It is NOT that resilient. Learn from my mistakes. Seriously.
Now excuse me while I try to sink into the world or porn so the last thoughts in my head(when I should be falling asleep) are NOT how I tried to prove my samsung had more balls than you do.. besides, she is female, it obviously has more balls than she does..
I kinda wonder if this is a subconscious excuse to get a new phone next month when I have money.. but I think I would have waited till next month is closer. No, this is probably an exercise in stupidity, one you need not regret. Not to the point there are dents in your battery. Kicking myself constantly!
Edit: I have a few extra batteries laying around, but what do you want to bet it isn't the dented battery that keeps it from booting or making a sound? I'll bet you 500 bux(what it cost when it was new) it isn't the battery..
Edit2: A picture posted while I am not sober enough to care(I hope, we will see if I sleep..)

Neither is the stuff on the inside.. I know a dozen ways to make it make a sound, or show in adb.. if it worked at all. I have a feeling I am going to be far too sober before the drunken sandman shows up..

I can't fap to this.
I was fapping my shi* last night.. I was in the middle of d/ling a porn and lightly playing with my jack-o-lantern and I open up this post.
I just went to sleep after and kept my phone close to me like a virgin.
You know you love your phone too much when you take it with you everywhere you go...
No I wasn't taking a selfie on the toilet!
Anyway, I tried to dry it off as fast as I could but you can't open it easily and I couldn't turn it off before it started acting funny (green then blue LED alternating)
So, went online to read about what might be done about it and not sure what is legit or not.
AT&T 2yr contract purchased on launch day
No, I don't have insurance. Currently won't power on.
Any suggestions?
My plan is to buy Nexus 5 off contract or try Swappa for LG g2 though I see that Verizon has it for 450 off contract at the moment.
I really loved my G2, poor thing sitting in a bag of rice right now, lol!
(sorry about the one sentence paragraphs)
Sorry about your issue, but how is anyone to help you exactly?
Nothing much you can do. But wait and let it dry a couple of days/week. Sad thing with unremovable batteries you can't take them out, and thus minimize damage.
To my knowledge there is no insurance for this, even if the seller says everything is covered . Sorry. It sucks.
Do note that by swapping it you give someone else headaches with faulty phone.
exacly the same thing happend to me..
I dropped my phone in a bucket of water as well.... best thing to do is open it and blow dry... alot of people are against this method because of warping the internals but all you have to do is watch out to not blow dry it to much.... if ur scared of blow drying try putting it in a bag a rice for about a week if its opend even better... mine worked a day after but was acting funny for about a week.. now its been a month and the only thing that stayed messed up is the power button.. thank god for knock on or else i would have been screwed lol Good luck and have 0patience,.. it shall work again..
Ps.. dont turn it on much or u have a higher probability of shorting out your phone n it will die forever... :crying:
Put it in rice for a few days

Jokes aside, do not try turning it on just yet, just let it dry.
The alternating led simply means it has been in water not to state the obvious but there is nothing you can do because 1 its been opened 2 water damage sticker plus crossed circuit has been tripped as well so i hate to say this but brother your screwed rice is your best bet
replaced with... same model of course!
@bachera. I only meant to use swappa to buy a new phone and not to swap / sell my dead phone.
I ended up buying a used g2 from craigslist instead of a new n5. Perfect condition and all is well. I even have a new data cable that isnt chewed through by my bird so I'm glad my old phone took a dump!
