[Q] Extended Battery Issues? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Ok, I just bought an extended battery for my HD2. I was just wondering if there would be any kernel issues due to increased mAh? Will certain things not work on NAND roms?

HD2 2300mAh EXTENDED BATTERY

My HTC HD2 2300mAh EXTENDED BATTERY shows up as an ordinary 1200mah
I am using Mdeejay_FroYo_Revolution_v._1.7_S6.1 .
Anyone... is it a fake battery or must i do in a certain way to explain to the battery that it is a 2300mah?
Some kernes dont have extended battery support. when the battery runs out, you put it out, put it back in and restart the phone.
Im using the 8.4eb kernel and I'm still having extended battery problems
try 7.7. or I will try to find and see if Mdeejay kernel has support or not.
I think its the battery. 8.4eb supports extended battery.

I'm having issues with the extended battery as well... What did you use to show your phone was only registering 1200 as opposed to 2300? An app?

[Q] Would having an Extended Battery cause Kernel Issues?

Hey all-- just bought a 2400mAh extended battery. Will there be any kernel issues due to incompatibility or whatnot? Are extended batteries supported?
there may be problems. Some kernels do support extended batteries though, just read the opening post as the chef usually says yey or ney.

The 2400mAh works fine with and without EB Kernels, only Official Batteries require the EB Kernel due to drivers.
I can confirm the 2400mAh Ebay one working with and without EB Kernels, you just have to take the battery out and put it back in when the phones dies (It'll drain just as fast as a normal battery, then you take the battery out for like 5 seconds, put it back in and then start the phone up and you'll have 60% or so remaining)

[Q] HD2 1600mAh

I found several 1600mAh batteries on ebay, which have the same size as the standard battery.
I found some threads reporting that this kind of battery seems to work with WinMobile, but I'm not sure if it's going to work with Android.
Especially after there is always a discussion about kernels supporting extended battery or not.
So here's my Question: Does anyone if this kind of battery works with android?
-> [yes, but only with a kernel supporing EB]
-> [yes, but only with a "normal" Kernel]
-> [yes with every kernel]
-> [no]
Thanks for your answers in advance!

I have one of them
It last LESS then the original battery, I think they are crap
Anyway normally EB kernel support the "official" extended battery, but you may ask Arne that is developing an EB kernel based on mine to see if it works or not with the "cheap eb"
Anyway, as a personal suggestion, if you want more "juice", buy an official eb or dont buy that fake eb
I recently bought a battery by Andida from eBAy, which holds 1600 mAh. Even though it works with Android (NAND HyperDroid, latest version) I didn't notice any increase in battery life. But it's a good spare battery, since I only paid a total of 15 bucks including shipping.

thanks for the answer! Did you wipe your battery stats?
Here is what I wanted to do:
Use this battery for 3 or 4 charging cycles until it reaches full capacity, than wipe battery stats and see how long battery is lasting then...
Anyway these batteries are cheap, so if they last as long as the original I just use it as a spare battery...

Stick to GB (probably CM7/MIUI) as I've found that ICS has very random and unpredictable spikes in battery drain. Other than that though, it depends entirely on how you use your phone, there will never be a 'best ROM for battery' so never ask that question.
