My HTC HD2 2300mAh EXTENDED BATTERY shows up as an ordinary 1200mah
I am using Mdeejay_FroYo_Revolution_v._1.7_S6.1 .
Anyone... is it a fake battery or must i do in a certain way to explain to the battery that it is a 2300mah?
Some kernes dont have extended battery support. when the battery runs out, you put it out, put it back in and restart the phone.
Im using the 8.4eb kernel and I'm still having extended battery problems
try 7.7. or I will try to find and see if Mdeejay kernel has support or not.
I think its the battery. 8.4eb supports extended battery.

I'm having issues with the extended battery as well... What did you use to show your phone was only registering 1200 as opposed to 2300? An app?

If ur able to use android with ur extended battery, then the kernel patch is doing its job and is already "activated". If it weren't, you wouldn't be able to load up to a launcher.

That's what it is suppose to do because it's not fully supported I guess. When it dies (at normal speed) take the battery out for like 5 seconds and then put it back in and turn the phone back on. It will boot up with ~60% battery remaining.

The code being used is from hastarin and is in beta.... Wait, are you using the 2400mah battery, and not the official one?, if so, then it's a known problem, and none of the kernels have support for it.

Yes, I assume it only does it because the kernels are supporting the official 2300mA one; but if his is doing the same as mine, I'd imagine he has the 2400mA also.

He doesn't have an extended battery, he uses data from the official battery users to modify the kernel to support it. PS. there are other threads mentioning the same problem about this type of battery.

I was referring to the OP having the 2400mA.
You do know the MDJ 7.5 doesn't support the extended battery. You would either have to downgrade to MeeDJay Froyo HD 4.2 (which supports the extended battery) or do a kernel upgrade to MDJ 7.6 (which also supports the extended battery).
Speaking of the extended batt and MDJ.
I had a weird readout on the Leicke 2300mAh one which I believe might be identical to the original HTC.
It would drop 10% the first 30 min with no ussage at all. It would show 10% left at 3.75 Volts or so.
I just installed MCCM_HD_V2.0 and hastarin_r8.5.1_eb. The readout seems alot better now. Now it is at 3.921 Volts and showing 83%
I dnt ave the orginal battery

i am not use the official htc battery i bought mines frm amazon or $20 2400
Use hastarin 8.5.1eb, MDJ's ext battery support isn't there yet. I tried his 7.6HD and wasn't reading my battery correctly at all and it was dropping 1% per minute. Under 7.6, my battery read 73%. I switched to hastarin 8.5.1, and the reading was 90% which was the same reading as it was in WinMo.

I second that. Try Hastarin instead of MDJ for the extended batt.
Mine is at 71% now where as with MDJ's kernel it would show around 10%.
thanks very much for ure help guys
I want to be able to set android to ignore low battery states. No 15% warning and no shutdown on 0%
Is this possible ?
This would make it very easy to use the 2400mah battery.

You could use one of the BETA Kernel with Extended Battery Support..
There you could "use" these type of Battery !
It isnt good to deactivated these secret Warnings because you should know if the Battery would be discharged to 0 % !!

I whole heartedly agree with you. There is no point of any batteries shutting down at 3.6 volts whether regular or extended. It is a well known fact that our batteries can be safely discharged to 3.3 volts with no ill effects whatsover.
There is no way to discharge the battery to the unsafe level of lower than 3 volts (i believe it is around 2.7v when the safety chip/mechanism kicks in shutting the battery down to prevent damage)
So it would be a great step forward for someone to lower the stupid 3.6v preset shutdown in the kernels and drop it down to 3.3 volts
If anything Arne might be the one to do it... He alone came up with the extended versions of the other kernels here. Wish I knew where to look to lower the phone shuttdown limit.
Lanhack the cheap extended battery is great if we can have the phone ignore % and we use a voltage widget to understand our power level. The cheap one doesn't report as an extended battery so arnes kernel has no use for these batteries right now. Also it doesn't report % properly and the kernals go to 0% with over 70% still left in the battery no matter what kernel you use.

Guys i need you help!
A few days ago i stumbled to a cheap extended battery for HD2 and i bought it.
Unfortunately i just found out that most Android NAND ROMs dont support it....
Can you please point me to a ROM build that does support it?
Its a non-HTC 2600mA battery....
Currently im using CoreDroid 1.6 and its draining my extended battery just like a normal one.....
Thanks!
extended battery support is kernel related, not rom related.
every rom which is using the current tytung or rafpigna kernel supports extended battery, so my guess: nearly every rom out there

Well...CoreDroid 1.6 uses rafpigna 1.9OC kernel.....
Why is it draining my battery so fast?
I charged it to 100% at 16:00,now is 23:30 and its already at 65%.....

how much have you used your phone? if there were a few calls, a lot of music/games/whatsapp/whatever its perfectly normal.

Not much.
I used like i use it normaly.
A few cals during the day, couple of texts and a few minutes of internet...
My standard battery usualy lasts 24-36hours.
I thought extended battery would give me 2-2.5x longer battery life....
I read somewhere that when battery level reacher zero extended battery users should restart the phone and it will go back to 60%....
I wonder if Android can even charge extended battery to 100%?
If the battery you bought is a non HTC battery then it may not be what it is advertised to be, ie not the ma that it is supposed to be, you hear many stories of cheap or 'fake' extended batteries

Get "Battery Monitor Widget Pro" and that tells you what mAH your battery is and that way as its non-htc you will know if its genuine, i bought a non htc battery apparently 1600 mAH when i first got phone but had no idea back then and only until i got "Battery Monitor Widget Pro" it told me it was 1230mAH which is the original battery so i just use one as a spare now and take 2 out with me, so i can drain it as much as i want, as i know ill never be without
Ok,here's what i did.I let the phone discharge to 50% thatn i powered it off and took the battery out for 10 seconds.
After rebooting the phone battery level was 78%
Im guessing that rafpigna kernel can read extended batteries just not entirely correct.
I'll wait until phone discharges completely and will take out and reboot again.
I tried Battery monitor widget and it reports 1230ma....
When i finish testing i will report back.
Just received a 3500mah extended battery today for my HD2. I have some questions that I'm hoping someone here has the answers to. I am running Android (TyphooN CyanogenMod 7 Nightly v3.6.0)
1.) The battery stops charging at 99%. I've unplugged to prevent overcharging. Is this a kernel issue or something else?
2.) Battery Widget Pro still shows the battery stats of the stock battery I had in before which is 1230mah. I have restarted and cleared battery stats in CWM but still showing the 1230 battery in Battery Widget. What can be done for it to show the correct one?
I might try reflashing the rom today at work and see if that does anything.
Looking at the official extended battery, it looks to be about the same size. Could be a tad thicker, but not sure.
I'm not sure, but, with battery widget, aren't you able to set the mAh manually?
I do not think this battery has really y 3500 mAh. It would make the hd2 even bigger than with the official one from htc.

I was going to but then I saw it has spaces for Max mv and min mv. I don't know how to find that out so I didn't mess with it. thinking it wouldn't work properly without everything set there.
Is there a rom that works on an extended battery 2300mAh ? I apologize for my language
Why it should not? Extended or external?? Did you try any?
Battery 2300mAH
When charging the battery 2300mAh flashing orange and green. Does anyone know how to remove this error?
Im not sure of anyone who has gotten it working to be honest
it either doesn't charge it properly or doesn't charge it at all...
at least from my experience.
External chargers are the way forward but they don't help the OS thinking its running low on juice when infact its only half empty... I have a 1360mAh that's detected as such in WM but comes up and only users 1250 or something on WP.
the battery is all a bit of a mess to be honest
i buy cheap 2600 mAh battery from eBay and work fine....
but every time when battery drop to 30% must restart device to refresh battery indicator to 50-60%....
Baterry 2300mAH
And what radio and rom you use?
2.15/5.15, rom you see in signature....
but with v7.5 i have 5-6 days battery life, with 7.9 2-3 days max if have luck
Dxdy...i found that 2.12/5.50 is da best combination...actually what is the best combination can u tell me? Do u have the radio 5.15?i need that to test on my Hd2...can u provide me any link
sorry write wrong.... best combination is 2.12/5.51 or 2.15/5.51 with radio trick
only with 2.12 data and wifi connection is slower
Baterry 2300mAH
Will test it, I hope that it will charge the battery 2300mAh

the problem is radios were developed based on Network and location, just because one radio has a high version number doesn't mean its better.
So 2.12 might suite one network but not another.
Best way is to try them, hardwre hardio is dead easy to change anyway, the software radio is slightly more of a pain in the arse to trial
