[Q] Android boot/splash-screen - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hi all!
I have been playing around a little bit - building the kernel and so on...
When I am starting Android (using haret) a boot-picture is shown while loading Android.
Does anyone know where to turn this off, so I can see the linux boot progress (like on a regular Linux machine) ?
This would be very useful if something goes wrong during the boot process or a fsck is in progress...)...
Thanks in advance!
Otto

Any luck? I am running the old "DISCONTINUED - Stock Gingerbread Rom
by xboarder56" ROM and want to remove the Blue HTC HD2 Splash Screen. I have removed the Nexus Boot Animation and just the stock Android one remains.

I'm interested in such a solution, too. I found it more interesting, to see the linux boot messages than the X.

It is logo.rle.

Look this thread.

I suspect that was the file I was looking for. Now a quick ? I have gone into ES File Explorer and Enabled Root as well as mounting the File System as writeable, instead of read only, and it still won't let me delete the file. Any way to remove this while working from the OS?
Thanks in advance for the reply btw.

Because that file inside initrd.gz. Uncompile that file and delete it from there. The recompile it.

Tried to decompress using OS X 10.6, 7zip on Win 7 x64, and MacDrive. No dice. Sigh.

Anyone have any ideas?

I removed the logo.rle from initrd.gz, but only magldr screen was shown.
If You want to change or remove the logo.rle look at this.

[Q] Replacing build.prop?

hi!
in order to test something, i need to replace the build.prop in root/system with a modified one. but trying to delete this file with astro manager displays an error message, and just copying the modified build.prop over the old one doesn't work too (nothing happens).
so my question is: how do you replace such a file?
thanks in advance for your help
are you serious!?!?!?
If the build.prop is located on the Android folder IT HAS TO BE A SYSTEM FILE !!!
if you mod the system files you could break android or the system just won't let you do it, you will need R and W privileges to do that.
edit the system files from your PC or just boot up in to windows mobile.
use some common scene next time.
hope it helps!

Do you use a cyanogen build?
yes and there is already a cyanogen rom posted with the proper build.prop fixed, so you won't have to edit anything, just search for it.

mmmh actually cyanogen made things easy to replace a system file, just copy your file into sdcard/android/root/system and reboot.
thanks for your help / posts. but unfortunately they're not helpful.
yes, i am serious! and yes, of course it's a system file. i know as well that modification might brick android.
there are reasons for modifying this file. some people seem to be able to, e.g. for chaning screen point density or modify the data passthrough.
so, please tell me, how can i edit/modify a system file from pc or windows mobile when its within the data.img-file?
thanks for any tips / hints on this.
use root explorer

Thank you VERY much for your help - I finally got it to work by listening your instructions. It is simply different if you have HD2 and plus CM mod. That figures why it was going back all the time to 180 instead of changing it - because it runs from sd card and that's where it needs to be replaced as well ...
Droid Explorer

[Q] Has anybody gotten the DroidX keyboard working on their HD2?

If so, can you tell me how to install it? Every guide I've read so far tells me to flash it from recovery... Seeing as we run android off the sd card, this is not possible. Just installing the apk unfortunately does not work.
Thanks in advance!

You can extract the files, then place them in a folder called "root" in your Android folder. That should work but it also might not depending on your build.

[Q] How to change the framework-res.apk file in NAND builds?

Hi guys! I'm having hard time changing the framework-res.apk in the system folder. The problem is this - with the NAND builds the folder is in some unknown format and can't be edited via RootExplorer or any other. Do I need to push it via adb or termunal emulator? And if yes can someone type down the right commands, because I don't know them. Thanks in advance!

I'll try another one later.
By the way, it works on the SD version though.

I got it to work to change the status bar on the NAND Desire HD rom im running. I got the framework from HERE
This is an easy way to replace framework-res.apk without using ADB.
Just change the permissions and paste the framework-res.apk over your original and reboot.

Clockworkmod recover 3x

Hey I did a search and browsed for the answer without luck... is there a simple way to add the clockworkmod recovery 3.x to rom manager it only has 2.x at this time but would be nice if I could ad 3.x to the list. Downloaded it to my SD card so wondering if there is a folder I can put it in that Tom manager would pick up? Thanks for any help!

U have to do it manually. It won't work with rom manager at this time
Not sure if it works, but I saw this posted somewhere. If it does work its a bit of a hack, but in the folder that rom manager downloads the recovery to, move that file out to a different folder. then put the Clockwork 3 recovery into that folder and change its name to match the original file. Then flash recovery.
Interesting option..
Ok excellent thanks for the help.

[Q] LCARS bootanimation

Now LCARS bootanimation for desire
youtube link:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zdeQDXGWyQ&feature=related
well, tested it my self on my desire, it works
extreact the signed zip, flash bootanimation through android flasher, thats it, reboot and enjoy.
credit goes to jrams over at htc 4g forum.
here is a screen shot:
file:
I have successfully pushed the bootanimation.zip to the /system/media folder and this runs well on an Oxygen ROM (2.16) however it is far too quick, it gets the the final image with "Memory Alpha Online" and then almost instantly goes black for a few seconds before displaying the lockscreen. Also, the associated sound file does not seem to play. How would I go about fixing these two issues? Or does anyone have a fix already implemented I could simply overwrite?
if there was a way to install through CWM would be awsome.......by the way im using HTC Desire CDMA

i did find a reply on a different site but I forgot to bookmark it. He mentioned that he had managed to get the animation both lengthened and the zip converted to edify scripting for flashing with CWM 3 and up, but I have no idea how to reproduce this

I think the ROM manager uses an 'old' CWM 2.5.0.7 as a 'fake flash'. This CWM is able to process the 'old' scripting.
The best thing is, you don't loose your original CWM.
It's just like using the old CWM temporarely.
Go for it and please report back.
Cheers
Dirk
Yes the fake flash with rom manager does indeed work in terms of it will push the files to the system partition. Although it depends which rom you are using as it might push it to somewhere that doesn't get read. This can just as easily be done with es file explorer however.
Is anyone able to tell me how to extend the animation? Is it literally just a case of cloning the files and renaming the sequence and rezipping?
