Building my own rom - Epic 4G General

I am in the process of learning about rom building, etc. and was wondering what people look for in roms it would really be good to know this so that i have more of a sense of what to do and not to do.

It depends on who you are building it for.

New Light Speed rom?

Since my rom isn't out yet I've decided to move the thread here. I'm leaning towards the miui interface as of right now and am testing a miui rom to get acquainted with it and familiar with the guts of it. I got to say that it's very zippy. I had thought about putting together a senseless rom that would be stripped of all unnecessary bloatware and good on battery life not to mention fast. After testing miui for the past day, I'm leaning more towards miui. Out would be relatively easy to compile a rom based on the stock base, but it wouldn't be fresh. I'm still waiting to hear back bout using the name "Light Speed" before I actually make it the official name. Although the idea is to make it light with speed. Essentially you would have to install all your favorite apps but the crucial apps for the operation of the rom would have to remain. Afa launcher and lock screen, I'm still deciding and am open to suggestions.

Are you planning on compiling from source, or pretty much ripping and tweaking different aspects of ROMs into a new compilation?
Hey, I would like to help with development on this. I believe you're looking for collaboration? I've some experience theming, and a little with compiling.
I was thinking MIUI with Rosie? That would be cool

I'm not familiar enough with compiling. Probably just ripping and tweaking for now. Don't want to bork someones phone and need to get a rom going that's stable and reliable first. Maybe after MIUI releases a source code we can cook something up from scratch. Rosie is nice but it would have to be heavily modded to get something outstanding and original.

PMed. (10 char)
Just wanted to give an update. Still testing miui by nix right now. I'm probably going to get going with a sense based rom. Work has been hectic. Working twelve hour might shifts seven days a week. It will be a light and fast rom. Still have some things to consider for a miui rom.

Try Desire HD vfive by wildstang
Everything is very stable that i've seen except the video recording
idk lots of people are having issues with that
they should really just put the 2.1 until they get it to work :/

Ec05 further development

Are any devs working on cooking up more ec05 roms? Reason being is tht I feel like we are never going 2 see a official GB rom anytime soon with the way samsung Bull sh*ts everyone. I feel we should have a ec05 rom with everything completely loaded on it with the lastest tweaks an mods. A ec05 rom thts bascially on steroids lol with everything we can possibly get on it.

Ec05 is pretty much maxxed out in terms of tweaks, however I still don't see an ec05 rom with the v6 supercharger script bakes in yet *hint hint era*

Isn't that what srf 1.2 is? I'm sure 1.3 will be the ultimate finale once its done.
Btw does anyone have scroll stuttering issues on xda pro app?

I think what we need is an AOSP rom...full AOSP. I think that would be awesome with all the tweaks we have...

From what I see, v6 supercharger is exactly like autokiller from the market (The memory optimizer, not an actual task killer).

How about the top devs get together to make one last truly great Froyo ROM like the EVO devs did with Synergy. I can think of aspects from 3 different ROMs that would be great together

Elaborate, O tester of Roms.
Cd's or tapes?
I hear what you're selling Mr. Corleone, but that's just because I know your jumping skills. When he describes it, they're all incomplete in ways that the other has figured it out.

Oh, I don't feel that way at all. I think most of them are well put together but each has its own special quality. As far as us never getting Gingerbread...I guess these leaks are for no reason right? Lol

Jared's ICS rom, and you can fall back on CM7 [if you need camera and/or 4G].
Im using Deck's ICS ROM, its running amazing, don't have a huge need for the camera or 4g atm, but I really do miss all of the CM7 tweaks, I can't wait for CM9!!!

I'm bored once again

I'm bored of my Rom once again, but I must say I'm gunna miss it nitrous gave me great speed and incredible battery life, any one know a Rom that'll give me that same thing? I just want a phone that knows how to conserve battery when needed and use it when it needs and is fast, I haven't had a aosp Rom in a long time, so any suggestions?

Dark light v.3.5 This rom just sips the battery and its ics based so its something different. I find it extremely stable not having any reboots or lag.

Dude, give boot manager a try. you can load up to five ROMs so you never get bored. Definitely worth a couple bucks
to answer your question though, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312414
is very reliable and fast, but sense.
for AOSP, try this. it rules!!!! \m/

ICS 4.04
You should look into the ICS 4.04 ROM by jmztaylor. You can search for his thread here on XDA. The ROM is lightning fast, very stable, and only has a few things that don't work (mainly camcorder and FFC).

you will never get bored again
