I am developing using the default Android Emulator. I can't figure out how can I have the list of currently running applications there. As I know on HTC Desire it is necessary to do a long click on application menu. However I was unable to find the similar feature on emulator. Does anybody knows?
Can you go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> Running Applications?
Thanks. That's really what I was looking for.

After searching both here and on google I have not found anything so I'm hoping some of you may be able to help me out with two minor annoyances.
I have noticed that several applications can run without showing up in the task manger (both dutty and the regular one).
Is there a way to see and/or close these applications?
I have WorldMate installed and even though I have disabled auto updates it still connects. So my second question is this:
Is there a way to see what applications are using a data connection (preferably the exact executable)?
Thanks in advance!
I think the standard HTC one (included with the phone) is able to shut down more, but l'm not sure about your problems.
If you have a search through the apps section then i think I've seen something in there that tells you what is using your data (data monitor of some sort?)
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Owen.
in standard task manager click menu view processes to see lots more of what is running.
Hi,
I'm trying to figure out a way to force a specific locale for an application. I like to use my applications in their "native langage" so my system is in english. But for many applications, it would be better for me to be able to run them in french. For exemple, Google goggle doesnt not recognize frnech text when it's set in english...
I guess the app would probably need to have access to root privilege. But I dont know the Android API enough yet. Is there anyone here that have an idea if it's even possible ? I dont want to spend countless hours looking for a solution if anyone here can tell me it's impossible or if someone can put me on the track.
Thank you
HTC Desire CM7
If you add different layout folders to your app(layout-es, values-fr) they will be loaded according to the phone's locale.
here is the documentation: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/resources/localization.html
also if this is for programs that you dont have access to the source then you could mess around with "Allow Mock Locations" in cm7. havent had a reason to try it so i dont know if this would be your answer but its worth a look. and im not sure if its exclusive to cm7.
Settings -> Applications -> Development -> Allow Mock Locations
Do you want to force locale on your own app (by creating an option where the user can change locale), or on some already existing apps that don't have such an option ?
If I understand correctly, you want to achieve the former. I would guess there's an application for this. Try "More locale". AFAIK it only changes the whole system's locale, but I didn't try it myself. Maybe it can change locale for specific apps.
My Dear Members,
I have this problem with my HTC Desire Hd.For an unknown reason i downloaded 3 programs from Htc Hub but i cannot see them despite the fact i install after downloading them and can even see them when i check Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All but i just cannot see and run them.
2. So also with the SPB Mobile Shell 3D, I purchase and am using this wonderful application but it just disappears from within the phone applications. I cannot even see it among HOME SWITCHER and neither can i select it in spite the fact it is listed among all my applications. I contacted SPB but they suggested i use HOME SWITCHER and select it among those listed but when i did and cannot see it they just abandoned my emails. Please help.
I was browsing the web and just now found that there is yet ANOTHER update for the Android Market; it's Android Market 3.1.3
I have tested it and i can confirm that it works on our phones, i have so far tested it on FroyoBread v023b with no issues.
I will include a couple of snapshots of it and the APK for everyone else
Whats new?
New Settings Menu
Click-To-Read Explanations Of App Permissions
Brand-New Market Icon
Custom PIN For Purchases
+1 For Apps And Games
Enjoy Everyone
Beans
I didn't find a way for the market to update itself, so I downloaded and installed your .apk and works perfect so far on MiniCM7-2.0.6.
Found a way to bypass the PIN system.
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications >Market > Clear Data
If you had set up a pin, clear the data then it won't be set up anymore...
Really poor implementation.
no automatic update here.
Am thinking about using a Note 4 for Audio and Video only (no phone or Internet).
Hope someone else has tried this and has some suggestions concerning reducing Android OS to minimum.
Also instead of reducing the Android OS if it would be better to use a 3rd party ROM?

If you're not interested in internet, yet want reliable audio and video, maybe try old kk roms that are optimized or some lollipop aosp roms. That way the software is at its lightest.
QuoPrimum Thanks for the tips!
Forgot to add that I am new to Android but have been using Windows for a while.
For Windows there are a number of ways to remove unnecessary parts
1. preformed like Micro XP v0.82
2. make your own using nLite
Anything like this for Android?
Also have been searching for a description what each Android file does like Black Viper does for Windows. Windows Services Information http://www.blackviper.com/windows-services/
Hope someone knows about an Android (or even Linux) info similar to this.

You could disable/freeze apps with titanium backup or using adb.
QuoPrimum Thanks for the suggestion "You could disable/freeze apps with titanium backup or using adb."
Checked "Titanium Backup User’s Guide" https://www.titaniumtrack.com/kb/titanium-backup-kb/titanium-backup-user-guide.html Was especially interested in 7. Manage Applications List of apps Tapping the “Backup/Restore” button brings you to the application list – or rather the list of available “items”. Here you can see which applications and settings are available on your phone, and what has already been backed up (the symbols to the right tell you the latter – hit your phones menu button and select “Legend” for details on what they mean). Tapping an application brings up a popup from which you can select actions to be taken with the selected item: You can e.g. run an application, back it up, restore it (or its settings). You also may also decide to un-install the application – even if it is a system app! But with the latter, you should be very careful: Remove the wrong thing, and your phone may start malfunctioning. Which is why you should first try whether it’s safe to remove that system application. This can be done by “freezing” it.
Clarification: What type of information is available when select legend.
Also do you know of a beginners guide for Android OS services?

I don't know of any specific guides, but if you look around xda, there should be a few debloating guides for roms.
