ETEN app for HTC Artemis

If someone has ETEN X500 or M700 device I ask him/her to extract and post PREI_ETMERGEEX_ENG.CAB (it's in Extended ROM) and post here.
This cab installs the Phone Service for ETEN PDAs that is quite an useful program with zoom-sms, Scenarios and call-blacklist. I use an extracted version in my Artemis, downloaded from our forum, but it is from the previous line of ETEN PDAs (M600, I think) and not perfectly stable.

I know i guy with X700 & maybe he'll agree on that. How this could be done?

With Total Commander or Resco Explorer you should write to the command line: "\Extended_ROM" (without quotation marks) and it becomes visible. Than you can copy any files of the hidden folder to another 'normal' one.
At least I hope it works in case of ETEN devices too, because for HTC devices this is the easiest procedure. But I do know that the preistalled apps of ETEN PDAs can be extracted, because they are on the net freely downloadable (eten-users forum), but, unfortunatelly only the German version is avaible there. :-(

Unfortunately, no. That thread is about the old, extracted version of the prog (which I also currently use). My aim would be to replace this with the original and more advanced version of the app, preinstalled to all new ETEN PDA.

I had found that link before but my guess is the GER in the title means its in german - probably need the equivalent with ENG in the title.

Thanks man, I have long discovered that site. If you want e.g. Quicklink (Today plugin for start apps directly from Today) you can download from there and run it in any WM5 device without problem.
But the specific cab I need is only available in GERMAN there! I gave it a try: installed the German version and it worked like charm, but I cannot speak German, and - to tell the truth - don't want to use a non-English (or non-Hungarian) program in my PDA. But I do encourage all our German-speaking mates to try it out!
So, that's my problem!

ähm...just a question: are maps already included in iGo ??
There´s a thread here in Polaris forum with TomTom CAB, and you do need maps. But maybe he just lost the installer (like me with TomTom) and is in search of the original CAB (cause he has maps already on his SD-card ?)

He's also asking for DE AT CH and Western Europe Map if possible. So no, I don't think he just "lost" his CD. If he did he'd be able to get a new from iGo quoting his serial number and name.

HTC Weather

Does annyody knows how to set a new town in weather program, other than the ones are in the phone?.
Teoreticlly you add a new location in a string, registry or somewhere in the phone for youre location.
The location code you can extract from firefox / Forecastfox. My location is in ROMANIA, the city name is RESITA, so the code is: EUR|RO|RO013|RESITA|
I've tried to modify an existing registry from the machine but it goes back to original towns.

I've used WeatherDatabaseEditor 1.2.CAB and WeatherDatabaseEditor_1_1_Meins.cab none of them is working for me, keep asking fot the last version of Microsoft .Net Compact Framework. My Diomond's Microsoft .Net Compact Framework is last one and ROM version is 1.93.479.3 WWE. as I saw on other post there is a lot of ppl having the same problem, is there other posibility for inserting a desired town in the list of the existing cities?

If you're updating the Database then not seeing it then you need to either delete one of the unused existing enties or modify an existing entry. I have had to do this on previous occasions.
Let us know how you get on..

is there a posibility to modify an existing town/location from the internal database, like to take for example another ton and modify in the PPC the adres/code/name?

Same here. Now using Garmin Mobile XT, but it does not support lane assist and 3D building. Read that Garmin in Asus Nuvi Fone M20 support that, hope someone can rip this apps and make it available to Window Mobile 6.1 / 6.5 Users.

No, I am also hoping to get hold of an English ROM to replace my Chinese one. Maybe when we see the Win 6.5 update someone may pick this up, but as of now, there seems to be absolutely nothing out there.
If someone wishes to PM me on how to poke around inside the phone that I have, I would be glad to help out.

Surely i think your M20 has a special China localised edition of ROM and Garmin inside, something like Garmin Mobile XT 5.00.30. Probably it would be better to find the Europe edition somewhere

i have tryed to start it on Diamond and Touch Pr2, without success. The program crashed even without any messages just after starting:-/

I believe Asus & Garmin expert customise it so in order to make it work for other WM it will need experts to figure out workaround

Win 6.5 Upgrade
The Win 6.5 upgrade rom was released this week for Singapore models. http://wt.is/w. I had to tweak the .exe with a Hex editor to get it to update my device (Replaced SGP00 with HKG00) and it upgraded with no problems, retaining my previous maps (which are stored on the internal SD card).
For those looking to extract the Garmin program from this device, this is just a tweaked version of Garmin XT which can be found on numerous torrents or rapidshare etc.

I have a related question: is there any way to transfer favorites (user.upoi) from my WM version to the Android version? (I'm on Froyo)
I created a test favorite but can't find where that file is saved on my device, thus I don't know where to put my user.upoi so I can have all my favorites on my device.

look on data/data/com.navngo.javaclient
could be there in "save" folder. but i`m not sure..
PS: makbil, you have very good skiners in Turkie...could you give as some good skin for igo on desire?

The exact location is: /data/data/com.navngo.igo.javaclient/save
You also need to be rooted but when I copied over the user.upoi file, the program just deletes all favorites. Maybe we have to do something with file permissions, I'm not sure.
Edit: The name of the favorites file is user.upoi.cks. Unfortunately unlike user.upoi it's encrypted so it's not possible to just edit that file. So for the moment there doesn't seem to be a way to transfer favorites from other iGO versions.

There is a way (at least for me there was one). I have converted old favorites.dat from igo 8.3 to the new user.upoi format. Then I have moved the new content to user.upoi file in /data/data/com.navngo.igo.javaclient/save and deleted user.upoi.cks in the same folder. After the IGO restart I see all my locations

HOW pls any instration how i can make

I am new to this forum, so I can't post direct links, but look for a web page named zhdanovs dot com and upload your favorites.dat there. Create empty new user.upoi file in notepad (i.e.) and put the output from the web page there. Then copy this file to your SD card and from there copy it to /data/data/com.navngo.igo.javaclient/save (root explorer can do the trick)

Saw "iGo" for Android in one of the Market*. Don't know it is a working apps or not. At the moment, am using Google maps to navigate and works ok.
