Installed apps not showing up in drawer?? - G2 and Desire Z General

Did a search for this & really came up with nothing. This is a friends stock G2 not rooted. He is only able to launch market downloads by going to the market and clicking open. Any idea's? Should be just wipe & restore?

Did you try rebooting?

I uninstalled my android market....

I uninstall my market app as I was experiencing "process com.android.vending force close " problems. NOt only does it not helps to solve the problem, bebut I found out that my market is gone and theres no way to get it back Now, I read through alot of threads on this and even posted on the forums for help...but its still not working! NOw I have no android market app!
Will a factory reset help? If I reset , will the purchased maps in Premium Navigation still be there? Or do I need to buy them again?
I really do not wish to reset...is there any other ways of restoring my android market without the process com.android.vending force close problem coming up again? Once again, thanks for any help rendered!!!
haha no one knows???

No a reset wont help, it merely deletes your user data, either have a hunt around for the market.apk (try the new market thread on these forums) or flash an RUU, is your only answer unless you where wise enough to make a nandroid backup
download GApps and flash that
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I think a hard reset should solve the problem...
Vol Down + power (in phone off mode)
So - will he lose his premium maps subscription??

shouldnt unless he wipes, but when he reinstalls as soon as he signs back in the payed for apps will re appear. until then no updates.
op check you inbox
The Market thread has the APK, first try to install the apk, if it doesn't help, then try flashing GApps...that shud do the trick

[Q] CM7 - Android Market - Not installing Apps!

Been trying to solve it for hours!
I NEED my Android stylin' for school!
I press install, then it downloads, but doesn't say the app is installed / the app isn't installed. Help meh.
How do I fix this, so I can install apps?
--
Edit:
I tried CM7 again but this time, a little combination of two instructions.
Before, I couldn't fix the market problem, like anything I tried (clear cache, data in the manage applications settings) didn't work. And the uninstall updates wasn't visible. So today I tried again but with some different instructions, and this time it worked! So glad I can use CM7 on my phone, so awesome.
Are you using a stock ROM or a custom ROM?
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
I've been having this problem lately (on both Bandroid's ROM and rdannar's "diet" stock ROM) with the new marketplace.
Even on updates some apps will go through the whole process, and even act like they're downloading, then will still show up as needing an update.
This didn't help you, but you're not alone?
Rebooting (sometimes) helps.
Do you have the new market yet? I notices when my phone switched to the new one it took a few hours for it to get back to normal. Also, it mat not show its correct status in the market app and if you leave and go back it may say it is finnished.

Go to manage apps in your settings and clear cache in market

This is crazy, I don't know why it's doing this, I can't even do gapps because the market won't install the apps.
Market
version 2.3.6
and their is no unistall updates button either. Mannn this is so frustrating.
Wait... are you installing Gapps after installing a ROM? Which ROM? Are you using 3g or wifi?

I have this same problem. I can't successfully install any app via the android Market. I tried clearing Market cache and data with no improvement. If I choose install an app, it looks like it downloads in the status bar, but doesn't actually list it as "Successfully Installed" as it normally would.
If I look in the Market's My Downloads it lists the app but says "Free" next to it instead of "Installed" or "Update". If I then try to install it I get "Sorry! The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." Force Close.
I also rolled back the updates on my Android Market with no improvement in functionality.
I think the issue started when I went to Android 2.2.
I'm not clear on how to solve this problem.
Same problem! !!!!!!! Any solution??
unmount SD Card
A temporary fix would be unmounting the sd card and then installing the app. It happens on some roms..hope it fixes...works in my case.

Hello,
I dont know if i am at the wrong forum or not but just say so.
I have a problem with my Nexus 4
On my Nexus 4 when i reboot it says "Unfortantly gaps has stop working." and my google play store doesn't work anymore after that when i try to open it it closes in an instance, i have seen tons of solutions on the internet and whenever i have tried one,my google play stores opens and works perfectly fine until i try to download an app instead of downloading it the google play decides to close, when i try to open it up it closes again.
Hope you can help me out
sincerly
Valentijn
Are you on a custom rom or stock?
Go to settings-apps and clear cache/data, then force stop. Reboot & try again.
If that didn't work, go to settings-accounts-Google-click on the email thing-settings (top right)- remove account. Then re-add your account and try what was failing earlier.

Wow, easy! Wait a bit.
Are you rooted?
Have you changed anything that could have caused the play store to misbehave like that?
Check in the settings of the play store, which version is it?

Ok, let's try this then: download and install the Play Store apk again; this isn't dangerous and shouldn't do anything but over-write the Play Store, however, it's software. Just a warning.
Unless someone else comes with a solution, you might have to root & flash a factory image (= back to stock).

Files app keep stopping

Hi, I was on stock unrooted OB3 and today updated to 8.1. But since OB3 I have an app called "Files". I can't open it as it keep closing itself. Clearing data does not help too. And I cannot Uninstall it.
Anyone faced this before?
I can't attach my screenshot from my phone as XDA app keep trying to open from this Files app.
I will try to attach from my computer when I get the chance.

I just updated mine ota from ob3 to 8.1 b1 and that Files app works fine. Did you sideload the update?
No I didn't. I did OTA. I did however revert back to OB3 from LOS and relock my bootloader.

I tried factory reset and was happy that Files worked. But after I restored all my apps, it stopped working again. In the end I had to uninstall my apps one by one to find the conflicting app. It is working properly without the problem app.
Thanks for the help!

You had a substratum theme installed...
If you had removed it... And rebooted... You would have been fine

Not substratum. I don't have that. It was an app called "Active SG"..
