Free version without word completion is also available!
Recent changes:
Version 1.0.17 GA
(both versions)
- Adjusted key alignment on symbols keyboard.
- Added launcher app that gives install instruction.
What's Next (if possible) from Mrcartagena
- Allowing users to help improve auto-complete dictionary if they choose.
- See if I can integrate live translation of input fields.
- Voice input option from the keyboard
- I'm considering disabling word completion in the free version entirely.
It seems to cause the users quite a lot of confusion.

As I understand it, this is part of UX, Sony Erricson's Android Overlay, much the same as the keyboard on the Wildfire is part of HTC Sense. These are not individual components, but rather part of a large overlay system, and so individual components (such as the keypad) are very difficult to transfer. Your best bet may be to use the app "Better Keyboard" and see if you can find a mode that matches the Xperia closely.
thanks! but I didnt find better keyboard on the market so I downloaded the apk. When I try to open the keyboard it crashes and has to be closed... How can I fix that? :/
EDIT: I downloaded a later version apk and it seems to work. But I cant view the skins on the market, and there doesnt seem to be a swedish lang pack. :/

On a previous version of my ROM I had that keyboard (named "Samsung keyboard" and it had ".com" key!). I am looking now to download but I can't find it.

You're a bad poster.
On another note. I'll see if I can get the apk file. Someone will probably beat me to it though.

The .com key will only appeared when you are typing inside a web browser. In normal application like sms you see space bar.
Hi There!
I have tried to use the built in onscreen keyboard for this tablet, and I hate it, then I tried swype, my keyboard of choice on the Galaxy S2 I have, and it's horrible too. Can someone suggest some other alternatives?
thumb keyboard! I love it!! Has all the customizations and features you need!
I'll second that
I've been using SwiftKey Tablet X from day one of owning my Tab, It works great. It has a bunch of great features like the ability to switch back and forth between a thumb style keyboard to a standard style keyboard. It also supports alot of different language packs and different keyboard layouts like "qwerty"..."azetry"... And so on. Great preemptive text and spell checking. You can change the theme on it on the fly and comes with 3 preinstalled. It's well worth the 3x or so in the market. And you can check their web site, from time to time they open up the beta group to new members.
Here's a few screen shots of it.
Thumb style layout:

}
Standard "qwerty" layout:
And one of the different themes:
I've been using SwiftKey keyboard on my eVo4g now for a few months and it was one of the first apps I downloaded when I got my Tab.

Im using open split keyboard
Even it still have minor bug
I'm not crazy about the default JB virtual keyboard. I'm used to the Swype keyboard on my Samsung GG phone. However, I can imagine that the default might work better in some contexts and don't really want to replace it. Is there a way to add Swype and possibly others and use a setting to select which one to use?
Using your N7, Login to your beta swype account and download the Swype for the N7.. works pretty good.

But if I install Swype can I use some setting to choose whether to use it or the default?
When you have multiple keyboards, you will see a small keyboard in the notification area when you are using a keyboard. That will allow you to select which of the multiple keyboards you have loaded to switch to.

Also you can drag down the notification bar whenever a keyboard is up and choose Choose input method to choose between Swype, the default, and whatever other keyboards you've install. You can also choose to hide keyboards from the list in that settings menu.

I've tried swype and swift key' but have gone back to using default. With the other keyboards, text prediction doesn't always show up in certain text boxes at least for me.

I too have the same size but once i saw that space bar got reduced even further.I don't remember how I bought it back to the original size that you are showing but i think its good enough size.Try changing to google keyboard by downloading it and setting up that as input rather than Samsung Keyboard as input which is what you are using now.
