[Q] Which Firmware - Galaxy 3 General

Hi.
A friend of mine just got a i5800 without danish menus. The firmware is i5800XXJE1, which I can't find anything about. A google search comes up with one page only and tells me, if could a croatic firmware??
Well, he want to get it updated with another firmware, which has danish menus ofcouse. On samfirmware.com it doesn't tell me much about each firmware, so could one you might tell which one to get? I see, that 2.2 is on samfirmware.com, but are they official? Or is it safer to get a 100% working 2.1 firmware?
I see that I should use Odin Multi downloader, right?
(Myself got a i9000, so i'm used to use Odin1.3)

zImage is the file containing the kernel and the initramfs. That would help because we don't have it yet..
I see that I should use Odin Multi downloader, right? => Yes
On samfirmware.com it doesn't tell me much about each firmware, so could one you might tell which one to get? => Jet JPA

i9100 XWKFI, BUKE5, and DUKE6 Firmwares Now Online

SamFirmware just tweeted:
FIRMWARES: Samsung I9100XWKFI, I9100BUKE5, I9100TDUKE6 Online! (Android 2.3.3)
http://twitter.com/#!/SamFirmware
Looks like KF1 is still 2.3.3 and not the 2.3.4 update we have been waiting for
Hopefully our update will come soon and sort out all of the battery drain issues.
Hope this helps.
Something IS happening finally ;-) samsung makes imho the best phones but when it comes to firmware they kinda like to hesitate...still thumbs up. Hopefully they fixed the gps issues for germany.
Cheers

Which gps issues? I didn't mention any... my accuracy is abot 10m and that's imho awsome?
Does anyone upload the new firmware for xda? Gonna test it.

Didn't have these issues, I've never had to restart the phone, except yesterday, when i set my device-font to the original one, because the font had a border, after a restart it hadn't the border anymore .
Btw: I thought the navigation is using the gyroscope for tunnels, to get the position without gps, but with the google navigation it isn't working... didn't test it on offline navigations, did anyone?
Anyone knows if swedish languages in included?

I notice this is B162, which (I think) is the version intended for the China market. I was expecting B136. Is there any risk involved in flashing B162 on a UK model?

OK, so here's the plan for how to spend my Saturday morning . Comments welcome.
1. upgrade firmware to B138
2. install superboot (not sure if I need to do this...)
3. install CWM 4.0.1.5
4. (optional) install new ROM (Oxygen 2.2.1 or FLB r7)
Did I miss anything?

Superboot was designed for 2.2.1 (B136) and may not work properly with 2.2.2 (B138). You don't need it at all if you install Oxygen/CM7/FLB/Miui.
Yup, I suspected that. Thanks for the confirmation!
So i received my X5 with U8800V100R001C00B135SP01 CUSTNLD253D001
I guess the customization is for Dutch market.
Does anyone know what these customizations are?
Also, i'm looking for a newer rom, but huawei isn't very helpful.
Can anybody please sent me a link to most recent stock rom that will work
in Europe (the netherlands)?
Thanks a lot for helping.
Any European B138 Roms should be much better compared to what you have now... The customization is limited to some applications that Netherlands Operator has agreed to get for this phone...Check your PMs...
Thanks!
I'll give it a try.
Does anyone know why they removed the roms from their site?

Katu, please send me that PM.
I've try'd the b136 rom for a week now, but i've found no differences... phone still reboots at random times. Using the dataconection (3G) gives reboots often.
Guess i've received a brick from Huawei.

The latest Samsung build I tried was KI4; excellent firmware and is leaps and bounds above the Bell firmware in every aspect. There are newer 2.3.5 builds, but I'm not on a Samsung based ROM currently.
Bell Canuck thread.
Firmware thread.
Search Original Android Dev for the latest/greatest firmware; it changes rapidly.
I wouldn't worry about updating your firmware via Kies if you're on Bell; you may NEVER see an update.

Read and research some more until you're comfortable. You only have to worry about matching kernel to firmware if you're doing a simple root, and retaining your current firmware. I've run 3 or 4 of the XXK_ _ firmwares, which are all Euro specific. No issues whatsoever.
Bell would likely tell you to pound sand if you tried to get warranty work done however, despite the fact you would have an official Samsung firmware (but not Bell's firmware).
When/if you flash a non-Bell firmware follow the instructions in the thread I linked to the letter, and yes, PDA is all you need, it has CSC, kernel, etc... in it.
You can then track down a CF-Root kernel for that firmware.

Exactly. It is optional of course, but if you want the latest, the smoothest yet from Samsung in this tab, it is the right choice.

No, I'm afraid not. These come directly from the Samsung servers and they don't provide changelogs.
I can't say if kl4 is faster than kk5 but it is certainly not slower.vthe only thing that I can see is that the overscroll indicator is not as pronounced as in kk5. It looks a bit more like the ROM from the 10.1.

Just installed this evening with Odin on my P7300. Installed like a dream, and I can confirm that it leaves everything intact, all programs still installed, settings, 3G working etc.
The only thing you need to do after is root and install the latest CWM recovery.
I notice it is a little smoother and faster, not seeing anything else striking.

Unable to debrand Huawei Nova

Hi everybody,
this is my first post so please forgive any "incorrect habit" might come out of this post.
My situation is the following: I bought a Huawei Nova smartphone about a week ago. It comes with Vodafone brand and the complete build model is CAN-L01C02B130CUSTC02D014.
I read lots of forum posts and blogs over the web and what I learned is that:
- L01 means single sim;
- C02 means that is branded Vodafone;
- B130 is the firmware version;
- CUSTC02D014 is the custom build with the debug version.
I want to debrand my smartphone (without unlocking or rooting it, if possible) so I downloaded FirmwareFinder and, from there, I fetched every firmware compatible with CAN-L01 following to my build model (made on 2016-09-14). Unfortunately, I was not able to install any of those firmwares (very strange).
Given the above-mentioned information, here are my questions:
1 - is it possible to debrand my smartphone without unlocking and rooting?
2 - is it really possible that every firmware made after mine (on 2016-09-14) failed to install?
3 - how can I pick a compatible firmware?
4 - someone wrote that before installing a more recent firmware, one must debrand by downgrading and then (only then) update the firmware itself. Is it true?
Thank you very much,
Valerio

Ok so I need tofind a full update, but I am not able to do it on FirmwareFinder...I guess I have to wait for it a little bit...but (knowing that I have CAN-L01C02 build model) do you think I can install a CAN-L01C432 firmware when it comes out?

I think that is better not to install it using the three button method. If you going to do it, at least have a nandroid backup, assuming you unlocked your bootloader and installed the twrp.
One other way to try, requires a unlocked bootloader too, huawei extract tool and then flash system.img and boot.img at least.
I linked the source, but Idk if it is going to work and requeries courage to do this :/
Edit: sadly, wait for the official upgrad is the most safer thing to do right now

I can tell for sure, but from the changelogs I read, it seems it is a test build or something like that. I could open it with dsixda and will try to flash as soon I unlock the bootloader but I'm waiting to get the code.

Thank you so much for the link! I think it should go flawlessly as long as it is compatible with CAN-L01 (and it actually is). The only thing that stops is that it is a test build...maybe I'll wait the official release too.

I stil have to wait 2 more days. I don't wanna pay any app to get the unlock code and I tried already to get it officially, but I don't have 14 days with my huawei account yet
