I have been using the superram version and it works most of the times just fine. However once I get robovoice, it is horribly annoying and time consuming to make it go away.
So if I take the plunge and go to a NAND version, will robo voice go away forever?! I have still not found an answer for why it happens in the first place. Talk techie to me, what is going on?

no, also experienced robo voice with nand builds... but i dont think its a big deal since it goes away with loudspeak+hangup method
Well the problem is for some reason the loudspeaker+hangup method freezes my phone process. So it doesnt solve the problem for me.
What radio version are you running and what carrier are you on?
Its a radio related issue. I'm on T-Mobile US using radio 2.15.50.14 and I NEVER have the robot voice.
BTW - I'm using TopiaHD NAND
EDIT -
Judging by the info in your other thread, you're on T-Mobile US (per the radio version).
Check out the TopiaHD NAND build. I'm running it and it has been flawless.
I have one of the first Telstra T9193's (Australia GSM) that I had shipped to the states and is now working on AT&T. Did this to make sure I got the 850Mhz 3G band and it works great.
Radio version is 2.15.50.14
And the calls work sometimes, sometimes not. But they work 100% in windows mobile. My base WM ROM is *not* the stock Telstra ROM, and I have tried booting android manually and with the bootloader with the same results.
Full System Details:
Android Version: 2.2.1
Baseband Version: 15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.15-g2ef5742-dirty [email protected] #10
Mod Version: darkstone SuperRAM Froyo v1.5 (based on adamg Oxygen-1.0.2)
Build Number: FRG83
A radio version issue seems likely, but so many people report success with this radio. Also I have awesome signal coverage, average battery life, and super fast data speeds. If I didn't have robo voice there would be no way to tell this wasnt a native droid phone.

hey,
i am just interested what combination of rom, hspl, radio-rom and android version everyone of you is using. I am reading that some persons have no problems, other have big problem and they are using the same android version. So if you want to give everyone some information, just write down something like:
ROM – HSPL – Radio_ROM – Android_version – what is not working
If you don’t like the thread, you simple should not answer. But I think that people who have problems are interested, what combinations the persons have who are using android without problems.
My combinations:
Chuckydroidrom 5.8.10 – HSPL 2.08 – Radio 2.12.50.02_2 – Mattc1.4
everything works fine, but the market for example is still laggy (and I have the problems everyone has who is using mattc1.4)
sorry for my bad English, I am german and my last lesson is years ago
Artemis V25 FRA – HSPL 2.08 – Radio 2.12.50.02_2 – MattcFroyorc1.4
All features works as designed but huge latency sometime with the interface : phone blocked for 3 or 5 sec then I got control back.
When enabling audio speaking when calling sometime the call failed or the audio speaker is not working : I've to recall my contact.
thanks a lot for your work. I had a G1 before HD2 and I'm glad to experiment again the Droid adventure. This I couldn't not do without all the "Droid members" and "Linus Torvald".
Keep on going
Kind regards
After many tweaks and tries... I am 100% happy. NO ISSUES except camcorder of course.
It is rock solid, fast, and most of the time I forget this is not a "true" android loaded device.

That's about it. Other than the system2.ext replacement for the GPS, there is nothing else.
Calls are loud and clear, no robot talk, data pulls from 3G and HSPSA and switches seemlessly between my WiFi spots I hit throughout the day.
Also, if it matters... in WinMo is have all switches on under Comm Manager. Data, Phone, 3G, WiFi. And Data Roaming is on in Android.
Loving it.

Also, no robot voice (never had it), no 3G problems, and GPS works...though it takes a while to lock on my location (I know how to fix it, just haven't gotten around to it).
These settings are for TMOUS:
WM ROM: Chucky Rom
Radio Build: 2.12.50.02.2.
Android Build: darkstone

I've been using Android consistently for 2.5 days. Battery life still sucks, but its reasonably fast, and very stable.

To expand on this a bit, I'm using a class 2 SD card. I have a class 10 in my Digital SLR, but would much rather keep that there.

Hi everyone,
I need help with android on my HD2. I put on my HD2 the Android 2.2 OS but there is no sounds and calls have robot like sounds (can't even make out words that are spoken). I have been having the same problem no matter what I do and how many times I redo the installation process. I even installed HSPL3 and went from a 2.10 radio to a 2.08 radio still the problem persist. And yes i did tap on CLRCAD before taping on HaRET. Someone please help...
The Robot Voice is a known issue. However, some cooks have fixed the issue in their custom ROM's. Why don't you check them out.

certain rom+radio combinations are better than others in terms voice call quality. e.g., chucky rom+latest radio works good with mattc's froyo sense, miri's rom seems to work well with darkstone's builds, etc..
I went through most of the threads of there but in vain

You just have to experiment, or look around in user's signatures, and see what build combo's they are using.
i've tried this so many times to no avail, the sound is very low plus i get tke robot voice and after the second call it does not sound anymore. Also there are no ring tones, everything works but the audio. This is what I'm running:
Froyo Stone with sense, my radio is 2.10.50.26 everything is in the SD card, also how can I access the sd card? Thank you so much for any help you cab give me.
well ill give you my tip on how to resolve your problems. i did this to my phone and now i can run android FLAWLESSLY on my HD2.
1.go to tmobiles site and download the latest STOCK rom for your HD2.
2. run the program to install it so that you have the newest stock rom on your phone.
3. install HSPL 2.08 and MAKE SURE its HSPL and not SPL.
4.after installing that, install a custom WM rom of your choice(im using the WM bare bones by NRGZ28)
5.then install a new RADIO rom( i am using the Leo_RADIO_2.12.50.02_2)
6.download and install the ANDROID ROM of your choice(i am using MATTC's NeXus one 2.2 OTA operating system)
7. reboot after you finish installing the android and it should work great! i havent had any robot voices/SoD or screen freezes and i have been using it for 4 days now and i usually get about 12-14 hours of use out of a full charge.
let me know how that works!
This has been talked about MANY times already. Android on the HD 2 is kinda like a learning a new recipe, you have to try different things till you find something that works for you. Did you know there is a whole forum dedicated to android on the HD 2? Really there is It is HERE
It does not work with all ROMS. You have to find a ROM that is compatible with Android. Omega's latest ROM is compatible.
Hey man you are a life saver. Tried what you did and my HD2 is working. The only thing I have found is when I hook up my bluetooth headset it somehow corrupts everything and i have to reinstall the rom to get everthing else working. Thanks again

Few differences.
I have chuckyrom light and froyostone (8/7/2010) build.
Its a t-mobile phone.
When I had the 2.10 radio, the build froze constantly. I couldn't use it. As soon as I changed to the 2.12 radio mentioned above, I haven't had a problem since.
I'm going on nearly 2 weeks and it has performed flawlessly.

same here
I have same issue with robot woice, just like from videoclip Black Eyed Peas
I think the combination one month old Duttys ROM and Foryostone2.2 Android image is the reason. Radio ROM is the latest. Therefore I think every chefs WM ROMs has to be modified to be compatible with currend Android port developement.
Also I have very fast music player, everything sounds like Smurfs and battery drain is very extrem.
But battery drain is common for every Android ports, as I can see at forum, so until this issue will be resloved it is just for fun not for the real usage I hope developers who spend a lot of time with porting will have luck with that soon
Hi all,
Having a problem getting Android to run on my Telstra HD2. I do the following:
+ Run CLRCAD; all good
+ Run HARET; all good until -- 5 or 6 lines of the linux screen appear and then it hangs, or the screen goes blank depending on the Android build that I try running.
I have an Australian HD2 with the following specs:
Model: T9193 (Telstra)
OS: 5.2.21869
R: 2.07.51.22_2
G: 15.32.50.07u
D: 1.72.82124
I am using the standard SanDisk 16Gb Micro-SD card. I have tried a number of Android builds from gamesquare.co.uk with no luck.
Can anyone suggest what I need to do to get this running on the stock Telstra ROM?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Peace..
Probably need to upgrade your rom
and radio. Look at some signatures of people who say their build is working good.
I didn't really want to upgrade the ROM and radio since it'd void my warranty..
RE: Telstra woes
I notice you are running 2.07.51 radio. I reckon it's your radio to be honest. I run 2.12.50.02_2 on mine. I have had problems with radios other than x.xx.50.xx radios. There is a link somewhere in here to all the working radios (I think in the definitive guide. Don't worry about warranty issues, if you ever need to deal with that, just flash back to the factory rom (but I take no responsibility .
Cheers
Definitely need to change the radio. You need a .50 radio. That also means you need to put HSPL on the phone. However, be aware that Android is not very stable yet. I couldn't get WiFi working and had all sorts of problems getting it to talk with Outlook. Went back to stock Rom highly modified (CHT etc)
Hmmm indeed the radio could be the problem. I use the 2.07.50.22_2 radio (although my G and and D values are also different from yours) and I've had no problems.
This way if anything catastrophically goes wrong with your phone and you're unable to flash the old radio back hopefully they won't notice
EDIT: Forgot about HSPL, thanks iandg.
Thanks for the replies.
I'm going to bite the bullet... I've just installed HSPL; no problems.. Now to find a radio update..

really? you had that much problems with it dude? I'm still a noob here but I must say that I'm having a really good experience with it at the moment.
My config seems to be working pretty good. Try this....

I have actually been using this as my main OS for the last 2 builds and it is really usable now. I have it syncing direct to my outlook server at work no probs at all (IT have hijacked it with security policies, but this is understandable). Other than that I reckon the DEVs here are absolute geniuses with how well this stuff is running.
Hope this is of some help

e1design, I have the same phone in the States on AT&T. Feel free to use my links below in my sig to get what I'm using. It works just fine. I haven't been on WinMo in weeks.
Done
Firstly, thanks for the replies in this thread.
I have to say that I've read it many times before: "Try the search function" - well it works wonders. With the information posted in thtis thread I was able to piece it all together and I now have Android on my HD2!
There are still a couple of things to iron out [WiFi, battery life and such] but in all a very worthwhile exercise.
Thanks again to the thread responders, and if you're in the same place as I was a week ago wanting to get Android on your HD2 - search on the keywords in this thread and you'll find it's as easy as can be.
Androis on T9193
Am totally thrilled to learn Android can be installed on the T9193.
Where are the best locations to source ROMs?
Suggestions on which are better and why?
Steps to Android..
Look at my sig and go from there..
I know I'm reviving an old thread here, but I'm wondering if any of you using a Telstra HD2 on AT&T (Cingular for me) here in the US have a stable Android install? I've been struggling with this for a long time now. I love Android but I can't get a configuration that will run longer than about 10 hours most of the time. I've gone through all the radios from 2.12.50.02_2, 2.14.50.02, and 2.15.50.14. I've switched my Windows Mobile ROM from Dutty CDLC v15 to OzDroid v1.11, I've switched my Android build from mattc froyo sense v1.8 to froyostone sense v3.2. I've gone through a couple different Linux kernels, currently on hastarin #8. No matter what I do I end up with about a 10 hour life before the device hangs. I have seen improving PPP performance with the different radios and kernels, but the overall device stability is the biggest problem. Could anyone using the Telstra HD2 for Android please post the configs that worked from them on their devices and include what kind of uptime you've achieved? I'm hoping this would really help me. Thanks in advance.
Ok For me I have the telstra HD2 and this is my Config.
Pretty much the latest of everything
- MAGLDR1.13
-Latest HSPL
-TyphoonN_CM7_v2.4.4.zip
- Radio 2.15.50.14
- Clockwork mode recovery v1.3
Just follow this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933951
Hope that helps.
Hi,
I have a new-to-me HD2. I've installed HSPL3 from here:
(can't link)
Then I decided to forego up/downgrading the radio for now. I also decided to try and stick with the stock ROM for now.
So I tried the latest shubCraft v1.4d and it wouldn't install.
Tried mattcfroyosense v1.6b and it installed, but it would crash right after bootup..
So then I went to mattcfroyo 1.5b and it seems to work 100%! So happy!
Then I tried to make a phone call. I've only tested by checking voicemail but the connection is like a high-pitch garbled mess. Any clues to trouble-shoot would really be appreciated.
I've only been at this for a few hours -- got my phone yesterday, and to be this close to a fully functional (seemingly stable except for the whole 'phone' thing ) android device is unbelievable. Great community here!
Originally had SPL 2.10.000.
Radio is the original version: 2.10.50.26
(any other details needed plz let me know.)
Check this thread out, it will help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734335
install a cooked rom, this will fix the robotic sound.
try energy rom or chucky rom. but first you have to install HSPL3 or you will brick your phone.
Just received my replacement HD2 and ran Android off my SD card. Got the high pitch squeaky robot voice. Flashed HSPL3 and an Energy ROM and no more Mr Roboto domigato.

I suggest you do a task29 to your device, flash a new radio, flash an android-friendly rom (chuckydroid for example) then format your sd once again and go with the most recent build available.
I believe your problem may lie with the rom. It is the one part of this equation that you did not mention in your post.
