25 hours from 100% to 0%?
My restricted use: phone calls about 1.30 hr a day, about 100 sms a day, very little (20 mins max) of browsing, and ultimatejuice+juicedefender running for notifications, i get about 37 hours of use.
I ordered a Mugen 1550mAh battery, which is on its way, and waiting to test that out.
In a perfect world the Mugen battery with moderate use would last 2 days off the charger (charging every other night)
Nice topic!

I saw the review of that Mugen 1550 mAh, you just get 3 h longer battery life.
With 3200 mAh the results are 3×standard 1350 mAh battery life.

And concerning the Mugen Battery, well they say 3 hours but considering the wear on this already year old battery (which is about 30% less than what it used to be when i first purchased), i am expecting a 5-6 hour gain. At least, those are my hopes
edit. kernel info forgotten, twice! sorry ^^

yea, it's amazing. but won't run juice defender so I just turn off data updates overnight and my battery stays basically where it was until klaxon wakes me up, then I enable data updates again and go for another day.
I could use a new battery, but aside from that I get more time from this rom than any other.

There seems to be a few small things that need resolving DK, but I am glad Elelinux is helping out as well now. Very different build styles but same goal. Feeyo took it down to the essentials, its very light. Just need Erasmux out of retirement now
I have 3d issues so might try reinstall as others don't get this. Fee usually finishes a new build while you download the most recent one! With Ele on board we might get 3 dl's a week!

Medium usage-
50 SMS a day. 30mins phonecalls. A few gmail notifications and replies. about 4hours web browsing (wifi). A few market updates. and some brief GPS usage (runkeeper or C:Geo)
Battery time:
Currently average between 36 and 39hours.
On Feeyos older 2.1 roms I used to get a full 3 days but kept it on 2g only, standard clock speed, and disabled tilt sensors.

Update your ROM dude! The new Froyd or Floyo (my favorite), either one with the newest Flykernel, will greatly improve battery life and performance. It's worth spending the time doing it.

I was surprised by how long the batter lasted when I switched to Ava’s ROM, but I wanted to run some tests and see how I can get the best results. If you have questions let me know, but I will continue to edit this as I go. I am running these tests for at least two days under a certain setting before I move on to the next one. On Day 8 I will/did switch back to using SetCPU to compare the weekends. Ava, you screwed my batter tests by updating from version 8 to 9, but that’s ok . If you want me to run a specific test, let me know. I plan to do King’s 6, 10, and 11.
*I just realized today (10-20-2010) that my Facebook has been refreshing every hour automatically. Since it has been doing this every day, I am going to keep that setting throughout the rest of the tests.
SetCPU set to 245/245 Ondemand with screen off for all of these unless stated otherwise. This test was started 10-9-2010.
Day 1 - Stock kernel - Weekend day - 16.5 hours with 31% left. I didn’t use the music player at all. I did a bunch of texting , web browsing, Facebooking, and some calling.
Day 2 - Stock kernel - Weekend day - 16 hours with 30% battery left. I didn’t use the music player at all. I did a bunch of texting , web browsing, Facebooking, and some calling.
Day 3 - Stock kernel - Work day - 14 hours of usage with 8% battery left. I used the music player for at least 6 hours. I did a bunch of texting, web browsing, Facebooking and only a few calls.
Day 4 - Stock kernel - Work day - 14.5 hours of usage with 6% battery left. I used the music player for at least 6 hours. I did a bunch of texting, web browsing, Facebooking, I only had one phone call.
Day 5 - Stock kernel - Work day - No SetCPU - 15. 5 hours of usage with 9% battery left. I used the music player for at least 5 hours, felt a little less than most days. Normal amount of texting, web browsing, Facebooking, but I had a few phone calls. I was very surprised that I had better battery without using SetCPU. I am testing it again day 5. Interesting note: the battery seems to drain slower while playing music than when I am using SetCPU. I have no idea why this would be.
Day 6 - Stock kernel - Work day - No SetCPU - 15 hours of usage with 7% battery left. I used the music player for a lot more than day 5, at least an hour more. Day 5 and 6 are surprising because I was not using SetCPU.
Day 7 - King’s #10 CFS - Work day - No SetCPU - Test got cancelled. Something happened with my market and it would not let my phone sleep.
Day 8(10-16-2010) - King's #10 CFS - Weekend day - 12 hours of usage with 20% left. Normal usage without any music. The huge variance here is that I let my niece use my Swype keyboard for almost an hour just messing around with the screen on. I was actually surprised that the battery lasted that long to be honest with you.
Day 9 - King's #10 CFS - Weekend day - 13 hours and 45 minutes of usage with 38% left! I am really shocked about this because I used my phone a bunch today. On top of normal usage, my girlfriend's internet stopped working so I started my wireless tether and let her use that for 20 minutes or so. I wish I could continue this test, but the real testing will be done during my work day using my music player.
Day 10 - King's #10 CFS - Work day - 16 hours and 10 minutes with 20% left...wow. This was with pretty heavy usage in terms of music AND my market was not working at all today, it stayed on for 30 minutes before it finally failed a couple of my downloads. This gave me a pretty good indication of what I can expect. Tomorrow I am going to run it without SetCPU
Day 11(10-19-2010) - King's #10 CFS - No SetCPU - Work day - 11.5 hours with 7% left. I have no idea why the battery drained this much. I maybe used the music player an hour more than I normally do, everything else was the same. This is kind of mind boggling.
Day 12 - King's #10 CFS - No SetCPU - Work day - 15 hours and 46 minutes with 20% left. The only thing I did different today compared to yesterday was completely remove SetCPU. I had it set to not allow yesterday, but maybe it was still working? Normal usage all the way around. Great battery life today. Day 13 will be with King's #11.
Day 13 - King's #11 CFS - No SetCPU - Work day - 15 hours and 32 minutes with 21% left. Normal usage. #11 seems to make the screens transition a little bit quicker and things seem snappier. The one thing I noticed about the idle battery life for this kernel is that it barely drains. I was in a meeting for two hours today and it went from 73% as I walked in to 72% at the end. I turned the screen on a couple times to check the time. Overall, the battery life doesn't seem to different between 10 and 11. I will test these settings again tomorrow. I am looking forward to the weekend because I am going out on Bartlett lake and I want to see how it works with less reception.
Day 14 - King's #11 CFS - Work day - 13.5 hours with 5% left. I had my screen on for a solid 90 minutes straight. Other than that, usage was normal.
Day 15 - King's #11 CFS - Weekend day - 15 hours 11 minutes with 2% left. I don't know why the usage is so bad here, things were normal today.
Day 16(10-24-2010) - King's #11 CFS - No SetCPU - Weekend day - 12 hours and 17 minutes with 57% left. This is pretty awesome. I am trying these settings again tomorrow at work.
Day 17 - King's #11 CFS - No SetCPU - Week day but not at work - 13 hours and 45 minutes with 30% left. I had to take the day off. I made a bunch of phone calls, no music, but normal texting and Facebooking.
Day 18 - King's #11 CFS - No SetCPU - Work day - 16 hours and 20 minutes with 18% left. I only used my music player for 5 hours today, so it was less than most work days, but the battery life is still pretty impressive. Normal usage otherwise.
Day 19 - King's #11 CFS - No SetCPU - Work day - 14 hours with 8% left. I had very heavy usage today, web browsing, Facebook, but only 4 hours or so of music player.
Day 20 - King's #11 CFS - No SetCPU - Work day - 14 hours and 35 minutes with 12% left. Normal usage, except I did some GPS. This kernel seems to be pretty awesome, I think I am going to stop this test and only edit it when I make some other changes.
What ROM did you switch from and how much more real-world battery life are you seeing? I switched from Fresh 3.3 the AVA 9 about 5 days ago and without any actual testing my battery seems to last longer, the phone runs smoother too. AVA is a very nice ROM

I was going back and forth from CM6 and Steel. CM6 was the one I was using the most. I'm getting 3-4 more hours now, easy.
I'm not surprised you're getting better battery life without SetCPU. Most guys who compile Kernels for the EVO also recommend against using it.
There's a popular notion that SetCPU increases battery life. It doesn't. In fact, it makes it worse.
i can't wait to see your results. because i also have the same set up now.
i was happy with ava with stock rom. now installed kings cfs 11 kernel with it. no problem. but not sure if i am getting any edge of it.
i will wait for your findings.

Thanks for doing the tests! Can you list which accounts you have syncing and what background apps you have running all the time? ie setcpu/batteryindicator/systempanel etc.
using my phone minimally (like a simple phone), I was able to squeeze out 7 days with superevo with setcpu:

Just wanted to see what your settings were. So you do set the screen brightness manually. I'll try the same.

I have pro widgets and just change it when needed. I turn off all vibrations(unless in vibrate mode), all of my syncing is off except Facebook which is every hour(I only have this on because I started the tests with this on and now have to continue the tests with it), I keep my 3g on all the time everything else off, no window animations, I believe that is it.
I also get awesome battery life with AVA. I was able to get 26 hours today.
Just wanted to see some real battery life results and what your using to get them. Please only include relevant info. Hopefully we can all benefit from it if people add to it. Thanks in advance.

How long does battery last?
My battery lasts on average 6-7 hour on work days. It would last much longer but i am a heavy user. By heavy user i mean I use my phone for browsing the net on 3g and downloading lots of data such as photos, dropbox, and rdc into my home pc for 5+ minutes at a time throughout the workday. There are of course the endless emails and text messaging throughout the day also which may not take a lot of data power but it does use power to have the screen on. With this kind of usage my phone gets under 10% battery after about 2hr 30min of screen on time. I see this battery life as expected given the way I use my phone. It is no worry to me though seeing as I carry 2 extra batteries with me in my pocket, though I never drain the second one under 60% before I get home.
One difference I do see is the idle drain is considerably more with voodoo enabled. This however doesnt put a dent into the way I use my phone.. I just may have to pop my second battery in a little sooner. It would be nice if this community would stop obsessing over battery life so much and just buy an exrtra battery or 2 and be done with it.
Thanks for the replies so far. Keep them coming.

Now if I am playing lots of games or using 3G a lot then it can be slightly less 8 to 7 hours but also on days the phone is mostly on standby I can get 15 plus hours.

Sounds like it too from the rest of you who submitted your stats. Some better than others but nothing like before when 20+ hours was standard for me.

P.S. I get 20-25 hours with the ka5 modem. Switched to ka7 cos I thought it had better data, just got back to ka5 and loving it. Data issues was something else not modem

So far am very pleased with this setup. My battery will not drain when screen is off. Probably 2-3% and hour, if that if not used. I haven't always had this though. I recently, two days ago, exchanged my first Vibrant which was bought the minute it came out because I had a feeling there was something wrong with the phone since it gave me ****ty battery life no matter what Rom/Kernel/Modem I was using. They even sent me a new battery previously to the phone exchange. So if you have crappy battery life and you bought the phone close to the day it came out, its a good chance it might be a bad one ( at least my experience). I am still in shock that I don't have to throw my phone on charge right when I get home after work. It lasts ALL DAY!

Typically on an average day of use (about 10 hours before I get to a charger) I end at 40% or so. This is with playing games, music, texting, and surfing the web throughtout the time.

That said, I already hit my data cap for this cycle so I've only been using GSM networks most of this time

How are you so lucky to be getting such great battery life? Is it like that for you on stock?
1- battery drains in maximum 8-10 hrs (even with usage or without usage? WDF?)
2 - audio problems... aargh
have you had these problems or is it only me.

i used jp2,jpf, both fail.
audio, that cracking sound while playing music, when screen is locked or sometimes even though the headphones are on...
i heard that many people have this problem.. it could be a bug of the 2.2 version..

you're lucky
Well, I both Kyrillos lestatius as much battery as I take 9 hours and hardly use the phone. However, with the ROM DESTINY giving much more use to the mobile battery lasts me 18 hours without a problem.
with kyrillos 5.0 how many times resists the battery??
amazingly, my problem is solved,
i flashed with DDJP6 (stock 2.1) and after 12 hrs (may be used for 3 hrs and standby 9 hrs), battery is still at 90%, so yeah, i am gonna stay with it for a while now

Thats good
Acid lestitious 2.0. Fugumod 2.2
It is known that 2.1 is more stable and pulls less power.
Mine with XWJPF: 1d 5H 25m running
Display 2h 65%
Voice calls 38m 15%
Cell standby 1d 5h 25m 11%
Phone idle 1d 3h 25m 5%
Wifi 2h 35m 2%
Dialer 2m 2%
Battery level 60% 3856mV
I have to charge my SGS daily.
Reading some opinions at forum I noticed that average SGS lasts about 2 days.
In 6 hours sleep SGS eats 10% battery (previous phone with same battery, more stuff: max. 3%).
What kernel and ROM are you preffering?
Thanks.
MilkyRom - Best for battery
Hi,
I'm a fairly light user and I found MilkyRom v1.3 to have amazing battery life - I could get between 4 and 5 days use from one charge:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207466
It's also really fast and stable too Downside is that it's only JVR
I've just moved to ZuBy's JVT ROM and that seems pretty good too - I reckon I'll get at least 3 days from a single charge:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360372
Enjoy!
unles the creator of some particular mod have not broke anything there will be no change in battery life betwen mods
only thing that could impact battery usage is user
I got amazing battery life on stock JVT with Semaphore, as long as I disabled 3G and WiFi when I didn't need them. We're talking 3+ days with 3+ hours with display on...

Oh, it's easy to get a long battery life!
Just switch off WiFi, 3G, GPS, synchronizing, direct push, etc. and finally set your display brightness to 10%!
is there the FC bug with Semaphore kernel also?

i get display on +6 hours on CM7 with fugu kernel, so yeah, there is that
I use obsession XXJVT (wich is almost fully stock, only difference +16 lockscreens) chainfire kernel and I get full 48 hours of intensive usage. About 10 - 15 hrs of youtube, 2-3 hrs gaming, about 30 mins of talking and 30 sms to send. And with 3g and WiFi always on. To mention I do not use any tweaks than Juwe's RAM script.
can anyone please confirm no FC with custom kernels?

I call sh*t on this. 10-15 hours of youtubing, display time of 15hours? That is with gaming for 2-3 hours?
Impossible.
Had the best battery life with some Darky ROMS so far, but I am always wondering about the stats some people post here. I was far away from these runtimes the whole time I own this device.
Maybe because I keep 3G, WiFi, Sync etc. on most of the time... But that's what I bought a smartphone for.
If I would disable everything that makes my Phone a smartphone I could also have bought a Nokia...

It all depends on the kernel anecd the options that have been applied. Too many variables have to be considered and their corelations as well. That said no FC should take place if everything is applied correctly according to creator's suggestions.

I am happy if i get 10 hours
MIUI mint berry has a very good battery life. On samsung firmwares I had to recharge the battery 2 times a day on my normal usage.
I currently use galaxydroid 3.3, with semaphore 1.9 kernal. This give fantastic battery life, drops only around 5-6% over night, I have wifi, gps and 3g all switched on all the time and the 3.3 rom gives loads of nice little tweaks, which are gone from 4.0
I use jvz odexed stock with semophore 2.1.1 and I'm lucky to get 6 hours of screen usage with screen set to very dark... Usually just using 2g service with tapatalk....

I use S.U.R.F.A.C.E 7.01 ROM with Semaphore 2.1.1 kernel and Thunderbolt scripts, and battery lasts about 2 days with 3G on all day, wifi morning/evening, airplane mode at night, and moderate usage of Tapatalk, calls, browsing.
P
I use Juwe Smart edition and battery lasts 3 days with wifi on and 3g and 2-3 hours of use
Well I decide to start this thread for us, to have a guide about wich ROM are we using and the battery average drain. Feel free to post you battery screenshots, and of course your information.
ROM
Average time
Percentage
Any tweaks.
Thanks!! Lets build some usefull information.
Hi,
I can only report bat usage on two ROM's since only used two till now.
JELLYTIME by Randomblame
Average time: about 13 hours
Wifi constantly on, mobile data also, average calls time between 3-4 hours, average of 1 hour of internet browsing, no gaming at all
Although it is a very good ROM, for me battery up time was a half that has with a stock ROM. It drains about 4-5 % per hour on standby
Any tweaks: No tweaks
CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightlies / M-Series by Mustaavalkosta
Average time: about 20 hours
Wifi constantly on, mobile data also, average calls time between 3-4 hours, average of 1 hour of internet browsing, no gaming at all
Battery time for this ROM is superb, I think it's a far better than a stock ROM. If I don't use phone much it can go 24+ hours on standby (Actuly I'm planing to do little experiment, to see how much will last on stand by only)
Any tweaks: No tweaks
Sorry I don't have screenshots
P.S. I think you should change thread title, since this is comparison between ROM's it's not guide for anything
If you guys are going to do this, it may be good to set more factors in. I.e.: age of battery, if on data, reception strenght and so forth.

Ok I 've got one of those 2450 mAh Gold battery's for my desire HD not sure if its the real thing or that high as it was only £7 on ebay but its better than my stock battery for sure.
I'm running AOKP 9/13 build with Sync on, Gmail push, some SMS ,Maps, internet, calls and running Android pro widgets for facebook and Greenify to kill Maps.
Today I have 57% battery after 9hrs 56m on battery
40 % screen
25% calls
15% standby
11% idle
6 % Maps
3% Android System
2% akmd (what's that?)
I think those stats are great and as good if not better than when I was running Mike's Android revolution HD 7.3.
Really pleased with AOKP very stable and no FC. Only thing is the proximity sensor works but sometimes must switch back on in a call, but I've heard this is a common problem with JB roms. I can live with that and I've heard of a recalibration app that might work.
BTW I use android pro widgets for facebook as I prefer it to facebook app and I'm sure it's better on battery life. Also less is more don't download to many apps, they bleed that battery with background maps and internet.
