Best battery SGS ROM and kernel - Galaxy S I9000 General

I have to charge my SGS daily.
Reading some opinions at forum I noticed that average SGS lasts about 2 days.
In 6 hours sleep SGS eats 10% battery (previous phone with same battery, more stuff: max. 3%).
What kernel and ROM are you preffering?
Thanks.

MilkyRom - Best for battery
Hi,
I'm a fairly light user and I found MilkyRom v1.3 to have amazing battery life - I could get between 4 and 5 days use from one charge:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207466
It's also really fast and stable too Downside is that it's only JVR
I've just moved to ZuBy's JVT ROM and that seems pretty good too - I reckon I'll get at least 3 days from a single charge:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360372
Enjoy!

unles the creator of some particular mod have not broke anything there will be no change in battery life betwen mods
only thing that could impact battery usage is user

I got amazing battery life on stock JVT with Semaphore, as long as I disabled 3G and WiFi when I didn't need them. We're talking 3+ days with 3+ hours with display on...

Oh, it's easy to get a long battery life!
Just switch off WiFi, 3G, GPS, synchronizing, direct push, etc. and finally set your display brightness to 10%!

is there the FC bug with Semaphore kernel also?

i get display on +6 hours on CM7 with fugu kernel, so yeah, there is that

I use obsession XXJVT (wich is almost fully stock, only difference +16 lockscreens) chainfire kernel and I get full 48 hours of intensive usage. About 10 - 15 hrs of youtube, 2-3 hrs gaming, about 30 mins of talking and 30 sms to send. And with 3g and WiFi always on. To mention I do not use any tweaks than Juwe's RAM script.

can anyone please confirm no FC with custom kernels?

I call sh*t on this. 10-15 hours of youtubing, display time of 15hours? That is with gaming for 2-3 hours?
Impossible.

Had the best battery life with some Darky ROMS so far, but I am always wondering about the stats some people post here. I was far away from these runtimes the whole time I own this device.
Maybe because I keep 3G, WiFi, Sync etc. on most of the time... But that's what I bought a smartphone for.
If I would disable everything that makes my Phone a smartphone I could also have bought a Nokia...

yes, try semaphore 1.9.1, its very stable (and fast) I use it with stock jvt as I need phone to be reliable.

It all depends on the kernel anecd the options that have been applied. Too many variables have to be considered and their corelations as well. That said no FC should take place if everything is applied correctly according to creator's suggestions.

I am happy if i get 10 hours

MIUI mint berry has a very good battery life. On samsung firmwares I had to recharge the battery 2 times a day on my normal usage.

I currently use galaxydroid 3.3, with semaphore 1.9 kernal. This give fantastic battery life, drops only around 5-6% over night, I have wifi, gps and 3g all switched on all the time and the 3.3 rom gives loads of nice little tweaks, which are gone from 4.0

I use jvz odexed stock with semophore 2.1.1 and I'm lucky to get 6 hours of screen usage with screen set to very dark... Usually just using 2g service with tapatalk....
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk

I use S.U.R.F.A.C.E 7.01 ROM with Semaphore 2.1.1 kernel and Thunderbolt scripts, and battery lasts about 2 days with 3G on all day, wifi morning/evening, airplane mode at night, and moderate usage of Tapatalk, calls, browsing.
P

I use Juwe Smart edition and battery lasts 3 days with wifi on and 3g and 2-3 hours of use

Best Battery-Saving Kernel

I'm currently using Cyanogen 6.0 RC3 with the Kernel that came with it, and I'm not too impressed with the battery - seems to be draining a lot when on stand by. Just curious on the best battery-saving Kernel out there that is stable and is great with battery percentages.
Try some of wildmonks UV kernels.
I'm also wondering about this. Im currently on kmobs #48 kernel. I have set cpu with profiles set up to under clock when screen is off. Anything else I could try. And no I don't want juice defender.

x2 i've been running 2.6.35.4_SVS-950mV_CFS_AXI_720p_1113MHz_082710.zip on the latest nightlys and battery life has been very good
Just flashed the 1190mhz WildMonk's Kernel and it seems to be a little laggy, can't comment on the battery usage though (I will tomorrow).
I've been reading and people are saying >1190mhz is very stable, but I've been seeing that people are clocking it much lower than 1190mhz (at 1133mhz). I don't care about the speed, I just want my phone to last longer, and to not crash.
Should I flash the 1133 instead of the 1190?
2.6.35.4_SVS-950mV_CFS_AXI_720p_1113MHz_082710 is extremely stable on CM6 & offers much better battery life than stock kernel.
I use it with GPRS/Wifi on full time, moderate browsing (about 1 hr), 20-25 SMS's sent, 50 SMS's received & around 1 hr of talk time. Leaves me with more than 30% juice even after 24 hrs.
To do better on battery life, avoid using the live wallpapers & use a black/dark
static wallpaper.
Cheers !

Battery life on latest CM Nightlies has been very impressive with the included kernel.
i saw him tweet this... whats CM nightlies?
Pershoot is number one, no question about it.
http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/
I have brightness at 100% full-time (Love it!), I have live wall papers 100% (Love it!) of the time and have 3g always with 2 Gmail accounts push via K-9.
GPS off, BT off. WiFi off.
I have CM6.0 with this kernel (1 month old version). It is OC, UV + Extra RAM with no HD(?).
I doubled my battery life on CM6 and very easy get 1 day out of it, almost never below 30% - from 7am to 11pm. I'm at 49% (midnight) with my average use.
If I stream radio, I drain about 15% per hour on 3g. I drain about 5% to read top 20 news on Engadget app (twice a day)
This is my second kernel from this developer. I used one with 2.1 and now with 2.2. I know I'm coming again for the new one when I feel I need to.
I do not limit my usage, as I WANT to kill my battery, but can't succeed.

I get great battery life with jk6. 5 hours idle and didn't drop even one percent, but it drains fast if I use wifi.
What if you delete MediaHub and DRMua?
I seem to get much better battery without those.
I also enable WIFI during sleep... it's in the advanced settings under wifi.
And of course I remove all of the other bloat apps.
JK6 with all the crap removed and I average 18-24 hours with moderate use. The lowest I've seen is 12 hours and I had the screen on for almost 7 of those.
Looking forward to when we get source code and can run an undervolted kernel.
I get really great battery with JK6. I suggest you to do battery conditioning.
JK6 has great idle battery life for me but as soon as i start to use the phone for low activities it drain faster. By "low activities" i mean as in making call, use map, navigation, changing settings.....
Here is my usage report:
3h since unplugged from over night charge
73% left
Display on for 45m 19s (lowest setting w/ auto brightness turn off)
Voice call 45m 21s
Cell standby 3h
Phone idle 2h 15m
To me this was worst than when i was running JI6. Also i lost 3G every now and then in the same area that i travel everyday.

I had similar battery life using various custom kernels. Installed Aux. 2.1 with stock. With heavy use I am running around 8 hours. Normal use around 12-16. Those other kernels will eat your battery alive. Try a stock kernel. Conditioning doesn't do crap.

noticed this also, doesn't really make a difference to me.
Most of these problems are user error. I woke up today with around 70% this mourning at 7am. Its 12 hrs later and im at 42%.
My Day:
combined 45min of calls
atleast 30 txt message
Ton of emails and they sync all day
Started my music player at 9 and didnt pause until 5pm. playing out of speaker
Browse the internet off and on all day
downloaded a 100mb mixtape torrent through 3g
screen brightness at about 60%
Probably a couple other things but app called Battery Left is telling me I have 10hrs left.
I really suggest running all stock. I need no lagfix/special kernal or anything with the newest leaked samsung firmware. Havent had a single issue since I switched to this rom.
I'm sorry, but I have a very hard time believing that, ALL THAT, only took 28% battery.
17%after a couple more torrents. Not wirth trying to prove but the stock rom made my extended battery worthless besides special occasions.

Thanks for the help. My battery died after four hours as expected. Plugged in and reconditioned and let it charge till it was full. Now It's been about five hours unplugged and I'm down to ninety six percent.
However as some of you have posted my battery drains VERY fast once I use it sparsely. It dropped almost 5 percent after a few mins of browsing the market. Weird. But whatever standby is amazing.

^THANKS^^ battery life on Simply honey 3.8 was pretty good....
This thread is a great idea, but let's put some numbers down rather then, "I get really good battery life!"
CM7: I get about 13 - 15 hours with minimal use on edge network.
Minimal use for me is about 2 or 3 phone calls about 30 seconds to a minute each. Less then ten text messages, very little to no web surfing. Check weather, look at news headlines.
Well, i have only tried CM7 and MIUI, wich is CM7 based, and to be honest, battery life is the reason that i came back to Froyo...just terrible batery life...i can't be charging my phone every 5-6 hours. On Froyo im using Super DragonModz on Project V, and i havent charged my phone in two days, and still its @ 25%...average/min use. Until GB gets good battery life, i might not be using another GB rom as a daily driver...

Pretty good if u ask me.

With every type of battery caliberation it takes a few cycles of charges for it to actually work. I use sgs tools and apply script and that deletes battery bin files. But doing that is not gonna take effect right away i hope u guys know that.
Im on cm7 and my battery usage is better then i expected. With me using either google music or Audio galaxy streaming for a 8 hour workshift and texting and websurfing during a lunchbreak and when that shift is done i still have about 20-to 30 % left sometimes as high as 40% But if im not streaming music and just doing normal things like playing cut the rope and web surfing and emailing, texing etc i can go on all day with out a charge. So maybe u guys have a bad battery???

On Revolution Rom, I can get 16-17 hours of heavy use, which is flashing a new build almost every hour, going crazy on the battery life testing. But people have reported about 24 hours of battery with moderate use.
Asgard 3.0 and 3.1 Both are giving me 13-15 hours with moderate use gaming (my kid 45min-1 hour) internet use, tweeting, email and moderate to heavy phone use (20-40 calls per day) and 1 hour of tunein radio.
I got an average of 15 hours on Blitzkreig with 15-20 short (under 3 minute ) calls, 35-40 texts and an hour or so surfing.... plus a little gaming. I am at 5 hours on Asgard 3.1 and 78% battery.

Revolution ROM's battery life is pretty good.
Can't compare with others since I've just started flashing GB roms now (I had tried MIUI before but back then the battery sucked so much it doesnt even count)
thanks for starting this thread, it was just what i was looking for.
i used CM7 awhile ago and the battery life was pretty terrible so i switched back to froyo. so now i was looking around again for reports of battery life now after a couple months of waiting, and looks like its still pretty bad. i guess im still sticking with froyo.
but hey i still appreciate all the work the devs do to bring GB to the vibrant
with all the MINIMUM use or HEAVY use
can you guys post the screen on time with it to shows how heavy/ minimum you use....
I've been using Blitzkrieg for a week or so and at first it seemed really good but the last few days it has been draining fast for some reason. I also have had it reboot a couple of times while on the phone the last 2 days. I'm not sure if it's related....

I have always said this phone has really good battery life, and for me it does.
right now my battery is on 32% and from the last charge past 1d 8h 12m with medium use
I had 3-4 days with stock 2.1 with my typical light usage. Now with stock 2.3.3 this increased to 5-6 days.
(few calls per day, no games, no music, 3G almost always disabled)
Compared with latest 2.1 with bb 67 on stock 2.3.3 battery life is worse. 1 day with heavy usage, and 2 days with light usage - 2g connected constantly.

There's a theory.....and i personally tested it and it works....
if you wanna get a great battery you must charge it at the percent of 20 or 15.....and it lasts a 2 days...
and i charged it at 0%..it keep about 4 hours charging...and it doesnt last a day....
im not very sure.....test it guys and see it if it works and tell me the results.....
dont forget about the THANKS botton.....
these threads are pointless imo...
everyone's usage is different, and you always get people saying "oh my phone lasts 3 weeks on a single change".... Pfft sure it does
There is no point in really comparing, yes you can get great battery life if you don't use your phone but what does that prove?

So what?
I'm giving my opinion on the topic of battery life comparisons in general, it was not any way offensive to you.
I'm simply stating that unless there is a way to objectively measure that the usage was the same, what does "this many hours" actually really mean?
Plus everyone's ideas of "moderate","heavy", etc... are completely different.

MIUI 2.4.2 battery drainage and optimal setup

I'm using MIUI 2.4.2 for about one month and i must say that is a very good rom. The only thing that makes me crazy and i cannot find a solution is battery drainage.
My setup
406 baseband, also tried 366
New MIUI 2.4.20 update for DS5!!! (also tried Streak MIUI 2.4.20 English)
240dpi MIUI LED_Notifications_ON (from ternorex Longhorn CM/MIUI Combo Beta ROM in order to have led notifications)
Test 3 Phoenix kernel (without hPa's patch)
WIfi on
Data off
With this setup had no lag, very good sound quality, no wifi issues. I'm not tried voip (skype. etc). The battery has autonomy for about 35 hours which is very low. I changed to 2G network only and now i have about 50-55 hours which is also low compared to other roms.
I love this rom but the battery drainage makes me crazy, so please share your setup and a possible solution (if any).
Do you have many apps installed/run in background?
I get 300h standby on MIUI 2.4.20 when I was using it (in airplane mode/wifi on).
I would expect about 150h standby with the cell on and wifi on.
So if i understand right it's not ok for the miui rom to last at lest 50-55 hours with moderate use. it has to last longer.
But please give us some hint's how are you using it, what applications are you using, phone calls, messaging? In standby with out using it it's not ok to last 50 hours but if your using it battery life seam very good, where you live there is good gsm signal that eats battery like hell, but if you are using it and want more then buy a 4800 mugen battery.

I have only the basic setup. I haven't install other apps. 300h in airplane mode tells me that probably the drainage comes from gsm network.

I only use it for phone calls at the momment, 5-10 min a day. 50h most of them in standby. I have full signal reception.
Also,i used 2 different batteries, both of them new, so it is not a battery issue.
I'm using miui 2.4.20 with test kernel4, and i have just like you around 50 hours of battery life, but i use messeging about 10-15 a day, around 30-45 minutes phone talk a day, 30 minutes of web with wifi, and other stuff like changing themes.
