Hi, I have a streak with the infamous gorilla glass cracked screen. (I think a nitrogen molecule landed on the screen.) The problem is that this was all a few months ago when I was playing with the Streak and trying different upgrade / downgrade options. I've decided to go back to it and see what can be done about it. But that's not the point of the question: my question is that given that the screen's unresponsive, I can't fine out which ROM and baseband I left on there! (I can't unlock the screen at boot up and I can't select fastboot for the same reason.) The only thing I can get into is recovery (because it doesn't require touchscreen, only buttons.) Is there a way to find out which ROM and baseband I have on there?
If im not mistaken you can use the sdk to navigate the phone. Ill try in a bit and confirm, I may be wrong.
Sent my Dell Streak from XDA app.
Stock 318 with tweaks.

Genius!
I just tried adb reboot fastboot and it just rebooted the Streak normally.
check the contents of build.prop by pulling it from device and opening in a text editor ?
Yay! I can see the OS version (2.2). Excellent - cheers.
Now all I need to do is work out how to get into fastboot from the command line?
EDIT: Will start a new thread....

ok im gonna buy a streak i think , i just wanna make sure that if its rooted that everythin like fastboot and recovery are functioning , what should i bee doing when i go look at the phone before i buy it , i had a htc g1 for 2 years , and i rooted it the old fashioned way and updated radio and my spl and all that , but on the streak i don't know how to boot into recovery to check if its working , any advice so i don't buy a semi bricked device .....
As my very first Android device, I can honestly say I have no idea what I'm doing and I accomplished rooting my Streak in under 10mins.
I lurked around on StreakSmart and learned how to allow 3rd party Apps to be downloaded on AT&T and they have a QR code in the 'How To' section for a 1-click root. Scan the code using AT&T Code Reader, it takes you to the link, run to program and viola - 1 Touch root for 1.6. I had to hit 'Retry' on the screen once, but on the 2nd try I got the message 'Woot Your device is rooted!' or something to that extent. Nothing changes on the device save for a few extra programs that appear in the Apps drawer and I can say everything works perfectly.

Recovery and fastboot work fine. Different boot up combinations between power button and shutter button...or volume buttons. As mentioned, 1click root is wonderful..works all the time. FROYO rom is a plus. Its near impossible to brick this device, similar to the Nexus One.
I am having soo much trouble with my new streak. I just bought a new one from Rogers in Canada. If anyone can lend a hand It would be very much appreciated because I am getting too frustrated I have spend the last 9 hours trying to fix this thing.
I have successfully rooted flashed ROM'd my N1 so I am familiar with adb and fastboot and I know very well now how to take out my battery but with this streak everything has been getting progressively worse.
problems in order of occerance
1. flashing lights
2. a notification your battery or charging cable may be damaged
3. cannot access the sd card from windows using the data cable(which worked before)
4.cannot install marketplace apps
5.no network signal
6.stuck at dell logo
Currently where I am at is I have a phone that will only sit at the dell screen.
1. I have tried clockwork recovery (new version getting a blank screen) and old clockwork (usable) I tried to do a nandroid recovery and it completes the recovery but doesn't do anything after a reboot
2. I tried to go to a stock recovery and stock 1.6 ROM and still a blank screen even though it accepts it.

hello everyone,
a few months ago i had a thread with a screen problem with my gt540.
well i didnt use my phone for a few months and now i booted it again and the problem is still there, tried alot of roms, tried froyo optimum, tried a few 2.3 roms which say they have good calibration, at the moment i'm on 2.3.7 mikegapinski rom.
i rlly want my touchscreen to work again, it doesnt respond at all, only on the most outer right corner, and even that is only on a few occasions most of the time it doesnt. once again the screen calibration function of froyo optimum didn't work so dont suggest that.
thanks in advance,
lars1216.

so your touch isn't working in any way ? only in one corner ? or just totally misplaced / decalibrated ?
in one tiny corner it works like it should, besides that corner the touch screen doesnt respond at all. so yea beside that corner the touch doesnt work at all. it could also be totally decalibrated i have no idea but this is what i experience at the moment. it would be great if u could give me the possible fixes for both problems.
try a 2.1 ROM it should work in every case. otherwise you should send it to LG if you have guarantee

on the stock 2.1 rom (europe open) it was unresponsive to :'( a bit better tho but still cant do anything, well guess its back to lg service center than with my phone, just got it back
well i'm aware of the fact i'll have to send it back to lg now, but how do i remove clockwork recovery and fastboot from my phone now? because i dont think they'll fix it within warranty if they find out it has recovery and fastboot on it.

they wont check for fastboot
for recovery :
fastboot erase recovery
or via mur4ik's bootloader tools
tried the bootloader tools that didn't work, tried the fastboot command, that worked but now the recovery button combination puts the phone in fastboot to, is that a problem or wont they check?
thanks in advance

Your problem sounds alot like one I had a few months back. The upper right part of my screen would only work.I too tryed calibration and different roms and nothing fixed it. My problem was a faulty digitizer I replaced it and BAM worked. Just a thought as it would be quicker than shipping your phone and a digitizer is cheap. Also there's videos on YouTube to guide u threw it
Sent from my GT540 ICS Beta 4 - XDA App
I think I need a new digitizer too
Any good trustworthy places you know? Also, I'm in France right now, so if you know someplace here in Paris where I can go and buy one that would be much appreciated
hello everyone, i just got an unlock streak to use with t-mobile. im the second owner but the other guy said he just received it as a replacement from dell. this are the specs
baseband:GAUSB1A140514-US
build number:2.2
my problem:the phone is unlock so when i put my sim and boot i get the led flash 3 times and then goes on a boot loop. and it will keep doing it unless i take out my sim. i manage to get it to somewhat work by booting w/o sim, then put phone on airplane mode then off. place sim and boot. then i take it off plane mode and quickly turn of data. then wait for it to recognize tmobile towers, then turn on data and it works for a few mins then goes on a boot loop again. has anyone had this issue?
my second problem is i try to flash several GB base roms and it flashes but i get a lot of FC and cant run the rom. I currently have (miui 2.3.2 ENG DS5 ) and it runs fine w/o my sim. as soon as i put my sim its back to the boot loop.
btw i am not a noob to android, but am a noob to the dell streak. any help, tips, comments is appreciated thanks.

You need to flash gingerbread baseband files which are amss.mbn and dsp1.mbn through fastboot.
If you are not new to Android I'm assuming you have fastboot and adb drivers setup on your computer and/or the androidsdk installed to the C: drive and paths set to make command line flashing easy... if not then now would be the time to get all that done, if not then you will be back every other day asking for help and getting flamed..
on a side note, had you bothered to read QUITE A BIT MORE the answers I just gave you are provided in the stickies, not even much need to search really, so please don't be one of those newbies that starts a new thread or posts each time your Streak hiccups, ALL the info you need has already been gone over more times that I care to remember
Your baseband indicates the Streak at one point was running 405, the beta Gingerbread build. It's no wonder you're having problems given you're attempting to run Froyo with a beta Gingerbread baseband.
Where this Streak is used, it's best to flash a stock ROM first to ensure the Streak works properly. 407 would be perfect for this as it's the stock Gingerbread build but you could also use one of the stock Froyo ROMs as well. After flashing the stock ROM and making sure everything is working, then go to your chosen ROM, using the information in the stickies.

thanks for the reply, so then what you are saying is that the phone was on GB at one point? man, i knew this guy tryed to flash a dif rom before he sold it. He told me he just got it replace by Dell and decided he didn't want it. i fixed my second problem but im still having the issue with the phone rebooting when data is turned on and then freezes at boot screen.

thanks for the reply
correct i do have drivers and adb in my PC and this is not my first time using adb commands. and yes i did bother reading many threads and using the search tool and found lots of great info but nothing pin pointing to the same problem im having with the phone not liking it when i turn my data on.
Btw i figure out why non of the GB roms were working, when i was doing the factory reset i was only doing it through streakmod recovery. but when i FR on the previous menu it worked.
i also made the diagnostic test through fastboot menu to test the sim and every thing else and everything is fine
Sorry for the late reply. I believe your data issues will resolve themselves by installing 407. From there you can install one of the custom ROMs.
hmm ok ill try that
Being the noob dummy that I am, I was not paying attention when I was clearing out my caches and happened to deleted -everything- from my phone, system included. There is nothing left on my phone except for Recovery. I managed to flash back to before I deleted everything (good thing on my part remembering to flash everything again).
However, I am still stuck with these white lines going across my screen. I have read the fix for this, but I am utterly lost in how to actually proceed. =(
I was hoping someone would help me out with this barney style.
Anything and everything is appreciated!
EDIT: I've gotten to where I go to the downloader on the phone, but I am having immense issues with ADB as far as flashing the updated kernel onto my phone as fastboot does not recognize my device, or sometimes ADB has multiples of my phone on the device list, which makes the program inoperable.
If you have white lines in system after screen off you must flash a patched jdi kernel. Search little kernel flasher for kernel patch

That little program is a damn life saver. Very convenient. Not sure how I missed that in the search function?
Anyway, thank you very much!
