I am using simple mobile prepaid service. I am coming from nexus one to nexus s. My provider on nexus s reads T-Mobile. I don't know why. I never had this happened with nexus one. Please advise. Thanks

Simple Mobile is an MNVO of T-mobile (Simple Mobile sells service on T-mobile's network and rebrands it as Simple Mobile... That could be why your Nexus S is displaying T-mobile as your service provider. I hope this helps you.

You're roaming on/using T-Mobile's cellular towers
Yes I understand all that about simple mobile but I never had a problem with the nexus 1 before. It was always showing simple mobile is my carrier. Thanks

may just be that the network has no idea what device it is or how to handle it?
either way, does it really bug you for it to say tmobile?
No it sure doesn't bug at all. But I was just wondering. Thanks

Is it possible to flash the sprint nexus 4g to Verizon? If so, how?
Thanks
The short and simple answer is no. If you want the long detailed version look around xda as this gets asked a lot in other cdma phone sections...

Oh ok thanks. I figured it could be possible since the verizon iPhone was able to flash to sprint. I guess the nexus is different or something.
i would imagine using tools there available online you could in theory get it going on verizon and maybe even get 3g but 4g wouldnt work for sure

I have a verizon prl flashed. It allows my nexus to roam on the verizon network at all times. It increased my dl speeds from 300k to 2mb per second.
You still need sprint service though.

Could you post how you did that? I would like increased 3G speed and coverage. 4G is fine in coverage areas for me. 3.5-5 down avg

Nope..it's highly possible ..check YouTube and eBay. People even got step by step and so on. So I know it's possible.
I was hoping to do the same thing. Technically it seems like the Sprint ones should be possible.
I poked around the forums trying to find a general answer why this wasn't possible but didn't find any real concrete answer. Can anyone explain why it's not possible or point me to a post that does?
Thanks
Possible, yes. Legal? Not so much.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
The fact that its illegal is why your not going to find a how-to on xda.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA Premium App
Why would it be illegal?
Root your phone and then download roam control.

I dont think you understand what the OP is trying to do. He doesn't want to roam on Verizon, he wants to get a Verizon plan and activate his phone on Verizon. That requires falsifying your IMEI and no you cant do that with an app from the market.

The hardest part would be getting VZW to add the devices IMEI into their database, impossible, no, but very difficult.

That's cool except this thread has nothing to do with gsm carriers. You wont understand how cdma works. Only our brothers in japan and korea understand the headaches and abilities

Hi All, I seem to be having a unique problem. I've searched the Web, gone to a T-Mobile store (A bunch of useless idiots), called Google Nexus support, called LG (Equally as stupid as the T-Mobile employees) They could not help me in any way whatsoever. As the title suggests, my Nexus 4 is not getting any signal with a T-Mobile SIM inserted. I used the phone on AT&T for 2 months with no problems at all. I've tried multiple T-Mobile SIMs and AT&T SIMs and the results are always the same. The phone is pure stock. No modifications. If anyone has any sort of knowledge or experience with this issue, your comments will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Bad esn.

are you using the tmobile apn settings?
Wireless and Networking -> More... -> Mobile Networks ->
Check Access Point Names (to verify using a Tmobile APN)
Also check Network Operators to select automatic or T-Mobile.

Yes I did. How would a phone be blacklisted? And is it possible to get it unblacklisted? Haha. And to reply to the rest of you, I have checked APN and Network operator.
There seem to be a lot of n4's that have issues connecting to or staying connected to t mobile service. As for a fix, dunno.

Been fine on my Nexus, course I've only used T-Mobile with mine, I haven't been on AT&T with it.
Also Phone companies don't seem to be in the habit of blacklisting phones, In fact there's been quite a few people pushing for them to blacklist IMEI and such in the cases of say stolen phones and such, but many just simply don't have a database in place for it.

There is a chance that the former user was a tmobile user who has tmobile insurance which uses asurion. There's a good chance that he committed insurance fraud and reported the nexus 4 lost or stolen. Asurion will then blacklist that phone for that carrier. Tmobile themselves don't blacklist the phone, but asurion does.

Man that would suck if that was the case, I wonder if there's a way he can check.
I did the free unlock method and pop in a prepaid t- mobile micro Sim card and wile it don't prompt for an unlock code it surely don't/won't connect to internet or even show E ,4G,4G LTE at all.I have to switch to stock rooted MDL just to use the service mode *#0011# and have tried just about everything with the exception of using fastgsm.com on the account of not owning a computer. I even tried sha256 back on and inserted the T-Mobile card and enter *#0011# to repeat the process. Still no unlock code prompt either way and no real service either way.anybody can reply/pm me

Tmobile has poor coverage. Good prices, but poor coverage.
That's not the reason. OP is using an AT&T S4. Any time you use an AT&T phone on T-Mobile, all you get is 2G.

True, I'd be with them if the coverage was better.
Hmm Try to disable mobile data and reenable it . make sure your APN settings are correct. If not then you may need efs repair...
You can also try the option NV Rebuild

What?
Like I said before, any time you bring an AT&T phone to T-Mobile, all you get is 2g data. Anything you try to get better will not work. If you want better either buy a T-Mobile device or get an international version of the device. Best option in this case is to sell the AT&T phone and use that money towards a new device.

I had issues with Tmobile at my house, just sitting outside on the deck... 1 bar of EDGE. Phone calls would work 25% of the time. Data would work, but rarely.
[soapbox]
As a side note... I HATE the current state of the cell phone industry in the USA. All phones should be unlocked, penta band, and sold directly from the manufacturer. Issues like this would never come up and the prices would stay down to be competitive.

While that is very true, providers/manufacturers don't want competition. They want to own everything.

Not hardly. With AWS you can unlock all the bands so att phones can get T-Mobiles lte and att lte. Noone listens because its not true. A ton of people have reported about this. Read up on it first.

From what I can tell, it looks like the process didn't flash correctly. Restore your backup (assuming you made one) and try again. It could have been a bad download. Try re-downloading the needed files. If that still fails, try another USB port and wire if necessary. If all else fails, t-mobile sucks horribly in your area.

Hello,
Been wanting to root and maybe even flash a rom to my Nexus 4. But I've hesitant because my nexus 4 service is provided by any of the popular carriers(Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile) but the carrier is exclusive to the 4 surrounding states I'm from(Arizona, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico)
So my question is can my phone be rooted? Since it's provided by any of the above carriers
Yep. It has nothing to do with who you have service with.

AT&T you don't have to unlock it will work If you choose t-mobile you will have to unlock to make it work on Cricket
Ok thanks for sharing your information I appreciate all the help.. T mobile service is very extremely limited where I work (around farm land).. at my home I get very good signal so I want to have a phone that gets great coverage in both areas. I thought of cricket since it uses att wireless towers and is 4g LTE with 10gb Data and unlimited everything else for $60 a month. Does anyone have Cricket using a note 3 or 4 ..I was just wondering about Signal strength and tested Data speeds

Got you Unique so even though I have to pay more for the ATT wireless version it may be my easiest route. I should not have to unlock it for all the services to work. I chatted with Cricket help desk and they stated that I would need to still have an unlocked phone even if it came from Att wireless.. but that seemed odd to me since they should almost be using the same signal bands as ATT wireless... Thanks for the reply @ Unique

Your phone needs to be SIM free because they use a different MNC code.
