I am new here & don't know the proper way 2 ask for information , so forgive me if I'm m the wrong place . I installed evil Eris 4.0 or 2.1.0 . I love 2 make ringtones & send or receive picture messages . Before rooting I could send a max of 1200 kbs. Now I'm the settings the max is only 300 kbs . Is there any way 2 get back the 1200 kbs or another Rom that that will & good with my music . I like this Rom but if o can't get any messages over 300 kbs its not what I need
There is a evil eris 5.0 beta rom, both have problems with mms( pictsure\sound)mesages
The problem has been worked on and hasnt been fixed 100% yet. There are a number of other 2.1 roms thats probly just what your looking for.
I just downloaded 5.0 but haven't installed. Do u have any suggestions

For 2.1 roms, I usually use one of the xtr roms. They're fast and pretty light weight (after the cache2cache that is).

I usually use the last because I like the simplistic nature of the orange home
When I'm on 2.2 I usually use CELB Froyo. And from time to time I jump on 2.3. Those guys are doing wonders on 2.3.
The Eris has a pretty awesome dev community behind it (support the devs by donating if you can btw), so there are plenty of other great ROM's to choose from as well. Those just happen to be the ones that I personally use the most.
Just flash a few, don't bother setting too much up and give yourself an hour or so to get the feel for it before loading up the next one.
Hope you find something that suits you.

basiclly check mms and stuff make sure it works ,, im prolly the only dev who doesnt use his rom lol the eris is a test phone so its not active ,, i do this for u guys
First thanks for the help & it really says a lot to me that the dev actually replied & n a speedy manner . Sorry u don't run ur own Rom but thank u from Eris owners who r stuck until their update is available . I don't exactly know the difference n sense UI or the other options u made available but I am going 2 try them . I love this site & the support it gives . No problem. It's a speedy little SOB, but I've just gotten too used to having the current CyanogenMod extras that are in most of the 2.2 ROM's now. All the customization in CM just keep bringing me back to 2.2 each time I try out some of the 2.1 ROM's.
Just create a NAND backup once you get this one set up. That way you can do the needed wipes and flash a new ROM to try out while still having a fully set up on to go back to.
I've usually got a few NAND backups for a few ROMs that I've taken the time to fully set up so I can switch between them. Just backup your texts and call log if you want all your current messages and calls in each ROM

In my opinion it would be JACHeroski. Its stable and speeds are good.

If you have no idea where to start it's probably not a good idea, tbh. Anyway, have you updated the radio and SPL? You'll need to do that before flashing the ROM. My recommendation is also JACHeroski.
I too am interested in hearing peoples opinions.
I disagree that not knowing means you shouldnt, I have been using xda for years and its REALLY hard to keep up to date with things.
Especially since theres new ROM's coming out, it appears, daily.
So please give suggestions on which hero is best.
Also, do any hero's have bluetooth yet?
I have the JACHeroski 2.7.4 i started with that one off the bat, laggy as hell but i need to change the swap settings. I believe that the closest one to the Hero software, no bluetooth or led indicator for messages, they are working at it. Looking foward to flashing this rom on the MyTouch when they figured out how to root that phone
the hero roms are getting better but i dont think they are quite their yet. still seem a bit laggy to me
I'm using JacHero 2.7.4 w/ compcache and the SMStoGMail fix. I still not always getting sms's but atlest they sent to gmail so i still get them. W/ Comp i love the fact i can switch back to "reg" home and have speed but if i want sexyness i press home again and go touch flow. Oh also over clocking at 527/128. Fast and when screen is off saves bat. have 5 widgets going on Rosie with only 3 screens and only get lag when i start getting bunch of SMS and emails and Gtalk at same time. One my friends keep joking i flashing back to Cy once a day but now with the sms fix and speed i getting i never do again.

not exactly my dream ROM, but I might install it just to check it out, there have been plenty of roms I don't really like, flash, and then turn out to like them, and visa versa of course

I tried appyling the icons to a rom a while back, wasn't easy. Godspeed my friend, because GANT icons are the shiznotch.

ok i got the fc on setup to stop ,, added rosie , added helix launcher cause the other launcher force closed , its gettin close , so far need to fix wifi , and need apn restore ,
good stuff. i want to try this on my Eris. I used to use this theme on my PC.

So, with all these ROM's flying around, i am deciding to create my own. But i have One big question, is there really any reason for me to? Seeing as there are already so many good ones out there, would mine be welcome with open arms and tested by people? Am just curious before i start cooking.

you'll never know unless u try. Some roms are received better than others; for what reason I don't know.
Do your best and post it. People will try it.
If you build it they will come
Alright, ty Im installing the kitchen setup now, so ill get to work on a sense based ROM first before i dive into a vanilla ROM(which i prefer)
Its always better to have more choices I believe. And who knows, you might become the next American ROM Cook.

Just started Rom Cooking a few days ago its really easy to do basic things in the kitchen....
got a nice rom i wanted to put out soon but its still in testing
its a very nice stock looking rom
very very fast and stable sense ui
with stock home launcher removed and built in launcherpro beta
other speed tweaks
ALL ADS BLOCKED
built-in mobile defense and wheres my droid
removed alot ALOT of bloatware and useless files for a smaller Rom footprint
built in xda app
OC 768
file manager
and others.....
working on making Dialer one stock and a2sd then release
maybe looking for testers soon

yea i am in the process of asking certain devs permission to use their free apps in the Rom hoping it turns out well

Hehe, I'll bet if you make it "cool" enough looking and show this in screenshots, some people will try it on that alone.
And like mentioned regarding 3rd-party apps, even though they are "free", their license doesn't always allow anyone to freely distribute them.

ok, so, ive made some alterations, apps, launcher ect, and wated to load it up and test it, well when i went to flash it, it said cant find.....(bad), any ideas?

I'll also test for any up and coming devs out there. but i will give you guys some tips on which roms i choose and why.
1. Everything has to work. I use my exchange email, gps, wifi and maps on a regular basis.
2. I love having the ability to overclock but i dont really see a point for ridiculous frequencies. Its not like i'm running a gaming server from my phone. I have the ability to overclock to 825 mhz and still be stable with my current rom but i keep it at 710 for my battery life.
3. I love having different launchers, lock screens, status bars and things like that but live wallpapers are a no go. Every time i touch a live wallpaper my phone freezes and reboots.
Right now i am using ic3rom 2.7 because everything works and it has wired tethering.
If you guys can create a rom that everything works and do some extensive photoshopping it is almost guaranteed to be a hit.

I must say that this theme I my opinion is one of the best looking themes I have seen. I seem to be drawn to the sense based "blue" themes. This theme was worth a detour from sense-able. Love all the options with it. I wanted to see what this theme would look like with adding Kevlar Mash. The pictures are below. Will be using this one for awhile. Thanks to the both of you. The live wallpaper with the bubbles coming right at you was a good touch as well

You should be able to, go to my post #4 and you can see the screenshots of this ROM with Kevlar Mash installed(requires Metamorph).
app 2 sd Confirmed Working
Thought I would drop in and confirm that app2sd is indeed working on this rom. I know that there have been in the past ROM's that say that they support app2sd however many people have not been able to set it up. See attached. I'll say it again great ROM.

apps2sd wiped my phone including my navigation and google maps
I'm loving this ROM but now I can't use the gps now? It was there before I put apps2sd on.

Navigation and GPS work on mine.
Is your sd card partitioned correctly?

I just got back into the android game. ive been using an HD2 which is beautiful, but winmo poses too many problems for my liking. So im back on with the slide.

Well it will bloat the system but A2SD will help with the data. Plus, JIT will help with speed and a2sd will allow you pick and choose which apks to store on data or sdcard unlike the usual custom rom scripts...
