Hi to all! From a 3 months i'm a happy user of S8500. But one thing is very annoying, the lack of a good internet browser that supports multi touch + flash /why not, iPhone got it from Mozzila/ + uses the full screen /not like the Dolphin in Bada 1.2/
Do someone know such miracle exist?
There are not 1 but 2 such miracles. Names are - Opera Mini 5.1 and UCWeb 7.4.5

both are java browsers....what we need is a good native browser with all the essential features.
Can we not have a port of Mozilla's fennec browser??

Exactly!
Opera mini has no multitouch and no flash support. I've tried UCWeb but it was not what i expected

I think the only devs who have the skills and the possibilities to port fennec are the devs of Mozilla. As far as I know there are only two OS that can use Mozillas's Fennec browser at the moment. Android and Maemo/Meego.
We have a new browser called Columbus! Not much of a great browser but still the number of apps are growing lets hope there will be an evolution

lol what i meant was it has the functionality of opera mini and more. But its a proper ppc app not a java application.
Just seen the opera press release http://www.opera.com/pressreleases/en/2008/02/05/
If you look under the section that says fully loaded:
Web 2.0-enabled, Widget-ready and Flash support turn Opera Mobile 9.5 into a fully loaded browser allowing users to access all their favorite Web sites such as Facebook, MySpace and more. With Opera Mobile 9.5, OEMs and operators will have the capability to include Flash Lite 3, empowering their smartphone users with access to the full Web including the ability to watch videos on YouTube effortlessly. So i was wrong first time it does have flash.

This made me crack up! Funniest post in a long time.
I'm glad the OP took it well.
I'd be very surprised if they'd release a beta to us regular customers before 2009/2010... I've completely lost my hope in Opera.
Over a year ago they told us Opera Mobile 9.0 was going to be released SOON
sounds good, does anyone know when it is supposed to be released?
Well, the situation with wm browsers is exactly like the pre-Firefox IE6 era. Please Opera, make a decent browser, release it NOW that its time has come and you will definetly be the Firefox of the WM platform!
Well, it looks it's intended for manufactures and carriers, and not for final user sales...
What has really surprised me is this:
Opera Mobile 9.5 will be available on all major platforms including Symbian, Windows Mobile and Linux, as both a standalone browser and as a SDK.

i presume its not going to be free though... shame.

PIE (even 6.1) is rubbish. It doesnt render the page in desktop mode at all. The formatting is always wrong. The Zoom feature of 6.1 is next to useless.
at the moment the only browser that comes close to the desktop experience is Opera Mini. OM9.5 looks like the right way forward.

Skyfire hasn't started their public private beta testing yet. I signed up for it but to know that they'll be seeing what sites I surf to due to server side rendering, I think I'd take Opera 9.5 over it.
Like it's been said before in this post, Opera 9 was promised how long ago? Hopefully 9.5 comes out before WM6.1 is obsolete.

Huh!? Are you completely sure about that? I thought Opera Mobile 9.5 would be a FULL browser just like Nokias browser and Opera 8.65... Why server side rendering when Opera Mini 4 already does that!
msmobiles is reporting that it is local rendering.

Unlike Opera Mini and unlike Skyfire, Opera Moible 9.5 is a genuine stand-alone Internet browser, that doesn't require any proxy servers.

I have this skyfire beta but i don't live in the US and i'm not registered in their database so i can't try this amazing wannabe browser.
So i ask you if anyone could hack this beta and make it free to use for everyone.
Thank you guys, you are the best!

Nope. Skyfire is server-side based.
Also, there are a lot of developers on here. Ask them how they'd like it if a CLOSED beta of theirs got cracked in such a manner. Just wait your turn and it'll come to you when they have a more polished product.

the point of this forum is to develop independant software to improve the platform. not wreak the chances of a company trying to do the same. the software is free to use. i'm waiting as well and looking forward to getting my chance, do it the right way mate

That's great news. There's also flash support and it is server-accelerated! Cool
http://tweakers.net/nieuws/59260/opera-kondigt-nieuwe-versie-opera-mobile-aan.html ( in Dutch) states that the new Opera will support not only Flash and Turbo but also Ajax.
Any download link for the beta version, or it's too early for that?
Don't get your hopes too high on Flash.
I bet the support for Flash is exactly the same as Opera Mobile 9.5, as in "plugin support" resulting in the crappy Flash Lite crap.
I would be confused if, out of bloody nowhere, Opera somehow created an Flash plugin themselves (and not Adobe).
Wow, the browser looks great, and faaaast

UCWEB does not require Java and its better than opera mini
btw, shouldn't this topic be discussed in the new apps and themes forum
Hm .. new UCWEB really looks better then the last I saw .. but better then opera mini ? I disagree. All pages I tested was way off.
Currently I use Opera Mini for everything .. and Iris browser for sites which Mini does not render correctly.
I have installed the new "fennec-1.0a1.en-US.wince-arm" and using it on my hd

fennec alpha 2
is alpha 2 only for windows desktop or is it available for winmo?
guys some help here
i'm testing it right now...and i must say a really like it....it's only early version but if it deliver what is promissing it will be big against opera....
now few things....zooming the page...i'm lost as i cannot find a way to do it....any ideas??
If you check in the parent folder of Mozilla's FTP there are nightly builds available. The newest posted version at this moment is here on the 14th May. There are newer 'mobile' titled directories, but 14th May is the most recent to contain a WinCE build.
What is it exactly?? what does it do??

There are clues on this page.
alpha 2 is for nokia
the alpha 2 was for nokia internet tablet i guess i was exited when i heard alpha 2 is released
I my opinion the interface is nice but not very finger freindly at the moment. closing of tabs is a pain with the fingers(you need a stylus)
every thing lags, zooming is horrible , addons are great but don't know how much it will bloat (wonder if hd can handle this bloat)
zooming is the main problem here

any ideea how this can be used?
Like it. It's slow and the GUI takes getting used to - zipping to left to obtain the navigation bar is... well strange. The graphics are well judged, and Images seem brighter? Java applets run nicely without sticking.
One drawback is that it won't flip to landscape, or is that just me?
Something to look forward to.

as you know everything will be better and run better with a more efficient use of hardware resources, a thing that android could not do anyway
but with FxOS maybe it will be done nicely, and after that FxOS has some cool iOS-like features
